Aroma: I was expecting something a little more aromatic, but the aroma is actually fairly plain, if not slightly herby.

Flavour: A very chai feel, herbs provide a light spice and the tea is incredibly strong and bitter.

What the boys said: As AlphaHE is targeted specifically at men, and I am thoroughly female, I thought it would be insightful to see what my partner and flat mate thought.
The Initial Taste: Both felt it tasted like a normal tea
When asked if they would drink this as a hangover cure: Neither said yes or no (winner?)
When asked if they would add milk to this: Both said no.

Looks like the boys weren’t that keen and although they initially said they didn’t think they would drink this with milk, Tris did later try it and enjoyed the blend much more!

Final Thoughts: Definitely tastes better with both milk and sugar, than it does as a black tea. As a result, like most chai‘s, I found the flavour to be quite comforting, but not something I would usually turn to, opting for a better chai. I could easily see this getting someone through a long Friday after cocktails or beers on a thirsty Thursday.

Aroma:
Despite the fact I knew the smell was obviously artificial, I just wanted to live in it. I wanted to eat the entire contents. I wanted to satisfy my watering mouth, and trust me, it watered A LOT!

Flavour:
Strawberry is the predominant note, but is laid back in comparison to the aroma, enabling it to mingle with the buttery toasted flavours of genmaicha. There is a slight synthetic taste but this is easily disguised and ignored.

Learning Points:
Traditionally, Genmaicha was served hot and used as a meal replacement for the poor or those who were fasting, so it’s fair to assume that this blend was developed with hot brews in mind.

Final Thoughts:
It’s safe to say my preference lay with the hot version of this tea, the toasted rice combining perfectly to create a cosy blend that’s well suited to ice cold, sunny winter days. Overall, a fun, fruity and very British twist on the traditional Genmaicha tea.

drank Its Me Time by TeaSane

With a the majority of ingredient being relaxants and a name like It’s Me Time it’s easy to see that this blend is curated to aid relaxation. Personally, I’m not a massive fan of the flavours that are found in common relaxation blends. However, as a massive fan of mint, I ended up enjoying It’s Me Time. This could so easily have been just another relaxation blend, but the addition of mint made it feel unique, invigorating and relaxing all at once.

The OOliva matcha bath bomb is packed full of nourishing oils, detoxifying clay and mineral rich salts. I don’t believe that there could be a better bath bomb for those with sensitive skin. After using it on my own eczema prone skin, I was delighted with the result; soft and no repercussions. I would not have hesitated to gift this based on the packaging alone, but after using it and realising that the product quality parallels the packaging, I would doubly recommend this to anyone, sensitive skin or not. Over all, amazing product, amazing brand.

On tasting (and smelling) Indonesian Pearls I couldn’t believe how similar they tastes to some Taiwanese Li Shan Oolongs. The flavour is aromatic and floral, with a predominant note of lilies, a subtle essence of fruits and a vegetal finish. This is also accompanied by a thick mouth feel that extends and linger through the finish for a while after tasting.

With many brands that are worth talking about there’s always that one product in their line that divides the market and sparks debate. For Tg, this is that product. The marmite of the bunch. The first talking point is the superfood ingredient jujube; a sweet Chinese berry that is high in antioxidants and vitamin C. That’s an additional body boost on top of the green tea and ginseng benefits! Although big in ancient and modern day China, Jujube is still relatively unknown in the western world and this drink has been inspiring intrepid excitement and curiosity in the adventurous and avoidance in the less so. When I asked people to actually taste it, the drink always had them divided, some loving it, others hating it. Overall this one is fairly fruity and really sweet, with a plum type taste, that remains mild as it mixes with the green tea and ginseng flavours.

Unfortunately this was my least favourite of the collection but I can acknowledge that plenty of others really enjoyed it. I’d still recommend this to others as they are super healthy drinks and contact actual brewed tea rather than tea extract!

If you love a fruity sweet drink, this one’s for you, being the fruitiest and the sweetest of the collection. The aroma is a strong mouth-watering orange, well technically mandarin, that invites you to indulge and take a swig. The ginseng is an underlying flavour, along with the green tea notes which remain mild and let the mandarin take over. Overall, completely refreshingly & my favourite of the collection.

The plain one in the Tg iced tea collection, but should by no means be overlooked. Most bottled iced teas lose the actual tea flavour to other flavours blended into the drink, so if what you’re really after is a bottled tea that retains the tea flavour, Tg’s got your back, this one’s for you. The taste itself is a slightly fruity (but weirdly not in a particularly sweet way), mingled with the toasted flavour of the green tea, which combines with ginseng to provide an earthy note.

I loved this blend, its super sweet, creamy and gentle. I’m just a little sad that it didn’t cold brew well as it would have been perfection for summer. No matter. Still great hot and I don’t mind telling you it pairs faultlessly with milk chocolate. Tried and tested. ;)
