I drank this with a smorgasbord of Korean and Vietnamese food tonight, which was a nice pairing with the tea. Smell and taste reminds me of mineral/hot rock, which is something I always enjoy in oolong teas. It looks to be priced decently, so I’d probably order it again. Later steepings are bringing out some misc. herb-like notes.

I brewed this western style. My experience so far is it’s mostly floral smelling and tasting, with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Some nice, mild vegetal notes. This was just a sample size, but I’ll probably order more in the future. A balanced, good all around tea.

While brewing in the cup this smells like hot rocks/minerals, also vegetal (boiled greens), maybe even like roasted butter? Some floral aroma is in the background. The taste I am getting is basically the same, with the vegetal scents coming through in the fore-front. I have had green teas before that had a buttery taste to them that I am fond of, but this is the first time I have tasted similar notes in an oolong. There is also a slight honeyesque sweetness I am getting on finish. Pretty complex. I like it.

The little bundled up leaves look neat in the bag, a contrast between bright green and dark. Smells very fresh and floral while steeping, the leaves really expand while they warm up. Taste wise this is pretty floral, leaning towards lavender for me. This is one of the better “green” or lightly oxidized oolong teas I have tried thus far; drinking it is an enjoyable experience.

Ahhhhh yeah…it seems like it’s been awhile since I had a dian hong, which is probably my favorite kind of tea. Smells like fruit preserves, maybe a hint of molasses, and sweet potato both pre-steep and after. Taste reminds me mostly of sweet potato and honey. Very smooth drinking, which is no surprise.

Smells and tastes somewhat like a nice Dian Hong (Yunnan) tea to me. I am getting some sweet potato like notes, but it is also rich and malty. Usually I don’t like drinking tea with meals, but this tea was great with nachos…

This is one of the better green teas I have had over the Summer. No harshness or nasty grassy flavors here. It passes the girlfriend test (she is hard to impress when it comes to tea)…she wanted more when the cup was empty. Has a mild pleasant taste that is hard to describe (chestnut-like maybe?). I am surprisingly getting some fleeting notes that remind me of cinnamon or nutmeg. I think I prefer this to the dragonwells I have tried, will have to drink more to be sure.

Smells amazing in the bag, I can’t stop sniffing the dry leaves. Smells like a fresh spring garden combined with a peach orchard, or grove of osmanthus trees. The flavors I am getting are similar. It tastes like an oolong leaning towards the green side, with clean, lightly peach-like flavor. It kind of reminds me of the mild sweetness I get out of wheat-grass as well.

We keep a big bag of this around as a daily drinker. I find this is about as good as many of the more expensive, fancy greens I’ve tried. I get the traditional gunpowder green tea flavor, plus I get some mineral-like notes, and a very subtle toasty taste. Even when other people in my house steep this for way too long, it still remains pretty smooth drinking, unlike some other types of green tea that are out there. This is a straight forward, great bang-for-the-buck (especially for organic) green tea.
