One of the people I live with brought some of this home, and I have been enjoying it quite a bit… hot or cold. It is strong and malty tasting, yet smooth (always a good combination). This is one of those teas that is good for every day drinking. This box of tea came with bags, not sure if this is available in loose leaf or not.

Smells nutty and chocolatey in the bag before steeping, like a Chinese black tea. Smells like a dark oolong after steeping. That oolong smell seems to come through on taste as well, kind of minerally tasting to me. Crisp and refreshing, good characteristic for iced tea. There seems to be a little bit of natural sweetness there too. I’m going to have to make a few more cups to be sure, but I think we have a winner here. I made a big cup to share with my girlfriend, and just realized I drank the whole thing while I wrote this, bahahaha.

A nice, robust (yet relatively smooth when I steeped it at around 190-F), malty tasting tea. I use it for straight forward, classic tasting iced tea. I bet it is good as a latte as well, will have to try that.

Kind of bored today and stuck inside because of hot weather, time to try some tea (iced to be exact, but I’m going to sip it hot first). This has Ceylon tea in it. I haven’t cared much for other Ceylon teas I have tried in the past. BUT WAIT…what?! This is good, definitely surpassed my expectations. Tastes pretty roasty, caramelly, and perhaps woody/earthy? Has a creamy mouthfeel. I gave some to other people and they all liked it as well. My re-steeps didn’t turn out as strong as i’d like though.

Smells roasty in the bag, yet there is also a sweetness there, almost like roasted marshmallows or something.

After steeping, the smell reminds me of roasted nuts, toast, and honey. A bit floral. Maybe just a hint of boiled spinach or greens. Mineral/hot rocks also. The roasty-toasty honey-like flavors comes through on taste as well.
Great oolong.

Organic. This is a good green tea, slightly vegetal, smooth, maybe a little sweet, it would be good for someone that doesn’t usually like green teas. I usually don’t think green tea takes sugar very well, but this one does.

Described on the bag as “a blend of the finest black teas from China and India.” I can definitely smell the Chinese tea characteristics in the bag. Brews up dark pretty quick. Has a good clean, classic tea taste. I made some iced tea with it and shared it with some other people…it was a hit.

A triumph. I figured I’d like this before I even tried it, as I like the base tea a lot. Very rich and calming, this would make a great tea for cold Winter nights. The flavors are all nicely balanced here, nothing overdone. Adding sugar seems to intensify the caramel/vanilla notes, and compliments this tea nicely. Pairs well with apple pie!

In the bag it smells quite peppery. After steeping it smells like plum pudding. The taste is great and reminds me of dark fruit, berries, mild artichoke, maybe white wine a little bit. It has a creaminess to it that makes it very easy drinking. After drinking this for awhile it definitely reminds me of berries.

I’ve been kind of bummed lately, because I have too much tea, which is actually a good problem to have, but it also means no new reviews/teas to try for awhile while I drink my collection down. Then while going through my tea tonight, OH SNAP YO, I found this unopened sample hiding in my cupboard.

Smells great in the bag, nice and balanced. I hate it when chais have one or two ingredients overpowering the rest. Taste is quite good. I think this might be my second favorite chai, and perhaps a contender for the first spot…we’ll see. I have to experiment with it a little more to know for sure.
