The hallmark of this tea is undoubtedly its thick and oily texture. If it wasn’t as colloidal, it would probably feel more like a sheng. It also has a clean, elegant taste, and a long-lasting aftertaste with an emerging sweetness. Overall, however, it lacks pungency and complexity. Thus, I wouldn’t prefer to drink this one over most of the blended ripes from Yunnan Sourcing.

The aromas are particularly weak, but also a bit unusual. There is a hint of charred bread like naan as well as chicory in the wet leaf scent. The taste is also more vegetal than most ripes. There are hints of pine nuts and butter, not many other associations come to mind though.

I had been drinking Japanese green tea for a while before discovering the world of tea in 2017. I rarely drink blends and generally avoid artificially scented teas. Other than that I try to keep it varied.
