1118 Tasting Notes

Good morning! It’s been a while since I’ve had this one, but today it sounded like the perfect thing to chase the chills and the grumps away. If this doesn’t work I may very well climb back into bed and drag the covers over my head!

This tea is smokey and sweet. It’s a great blend of Lapsang Souchong, Keemun, and Darjeeling. Because it has Darjeeling I used a slightly cooler water temperature and a shorter steep time. The result is a rich, medium bodied tea without astringency. I think this could be nice way to introduce someone to smokey teas. There’s a fair but of smoke, but it’s well tempered by the malt and sweet notes making for a very pleasant cup.

My before bed tea. I still say this is an apple tea, not a pomegranate one. It’s a pretty tasty apple tea, too. Sweet and fruity from start to finish.

My daughter used the last teaspoon of this tonight. Since I’ve always thought of this as a peaches and cream herbal I thought I’d give it a taste to see if I felt as meh about this as I did the other peach tea I had earlier today. I definitely like this one more – a lot more – than the Organic Peach Apricot Essence, but it’s still not my favorite. Something about the peach flavoring is just off to me. My daughter, however, loves this, so we’ll pick up another bag this weekend.

A minty chai! This is pretty tasty. The mint is sweet, and there is definitely licorice in here, but it doesn’t dominate the tea. There is also a fair bit of ginger which is nice and warming. Overall I really like this one.

Another tea sent by the lovely Ost as part of the Christmas Card Swap. Thank you, my dear!

I am such a big fan of this tea. Tonight there are strong chocolate notes as well as the flavor of fresh baked bread. There’s also the flavor of honey and cinnamon. Perhaps a little floral but not as much as I remember from the previous time I tried this. Still, this is really good and a treat to have in my cup again.

Ost

Wasn’t sure if you had tried it yet, but at least you have liked it before-would have been a waste if you had already tried it and hated it. XD Well, enjoy! (:

Veronica

Not only do I like it, I ordered two ounces from WPT. :) Thanks for sharing it with me!

Made this as an iced tea to sip on while I cook dinner. This is much, much better iced than as a cold brew. The only way to keep this from being bitter is a short steep time, but as long as I babysit it while it steeps I get a nice peachy tea.

I still have quite a bit of this left. I’m tempted to fix a pitcher of it just to use it up. Part of me wishes I liked this as much as I used to, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Oh well.

I used to really love peach & apricot teas, but now they never taste right to me.
I do still love peach & apricot jelly…occasionally :)
and really, anything with real peaches or apricots in it :)

Veronica

So it’s not just me. :) Peach teas used to be my favorite. Now they just taste strange. I’ve been spoiled on good teas that have stone fruit notes in them. Everything else pales in comparison.

And real peaches and apricots are near the yummiest things on earth.

The very kind Ost sent me this amazing tea inside the cutest Christmas card. Thank you!!!

Mmmm… I forgot how good this one is. There is a wonderful pastry flavor along with cinnamon, nuts, and vanilla. Yum. This would make an outstanding tea for a holiday party with all of its spice and nut flavors. I haven’t had too many teas from American Tea Room, but this one is a winner.

drank Earl Grey Moonlight by Adagio Teas

I’m an Earl Grey girl. Love, love, love bergamot and tea in most of the crazy ways people blend them together. At the moment my cupboard is fairly limited on EGs because the 350 g of it I purchased over the past few weeks are Christmas presents and therefor can not be touched until Christmas morning. My teenage daughter and preteen son are loving that I’m more excited about my gifts than they are. :) Anyway, I’ve been daydreaming about Earl Grey Cream teas lately, so I was thrilled to pieces to have Flyawaybirdie send me a sample of this tea inside a beautiful Christmas card. I smelled the bergamot before I had the card opened, and you can bet your teaspoon I was smiling from ear to ear!

I’ve had this tea before, so I knew that less is more. I used 6 oz of water that was around 200°F for 3 minutes, and I was rewarded with a lovely cup of Earl Grey with a bit of creamy vanilla in each sip. It absolutely hit the spot. I grabbed a couple of Christams cookies to go with it and am calling that lunch for the day. (Sssh… don’t tell my kids!)

Flyawaybirdie, thank you, my dear!

This is very different from the other Nepali teas I have tried. It has an almost herbal flavor. It reminds me of Holy Basil blended with Darjeeling. There is a definite muscatel flavor as the tea cools, and there is a bit of dryness at the end of the sip. The combination of herb and grape notes along with the astringency make me think of sweet vermouth . I’m seeing a tea cocktail in my future….

Oh, I forgot how good this tea is. It’s smooth and sweet, a little biscuity, and it has great plum and spice notes. There’s a floral (honeysuckle) note as the tea cools which blends nicely with the other flavors. I’m not sure if I tasted plum in this tea before – I’ll have to go check my notes – but my, oh, my is it showing up in force today. That’s a good thing. A good delicious thing.

Thank you Nicole for sending this tea my way! It’s a real treat!!!
