drank Queen Catherine by Harney & Sons
1118 tasting notes

My little town is celebrating its 100th birthday, so each weekend during the month of May there is some type of “celebration” going on. Last weekend there was a parade. Today there was a classic car show along Main Street. Along with the really awesome cars there were the typical vendors, bouncy houses, and craft tables. My kids and I had a nice time walking, looking around, and playing games. And then I saw it. A tea table!!! A wonderful lady who owns a tea house is Woodstown brought a variety of her teas to sell at the fair. Among them were several Harney and Sons teas including this one. It was meant to be. I had to have it. After talking tea with my new friend (and getting the address of her tea shop) I bundled up my little tin of the Queen and happily headed home.

It has been years since I’ve had this tea, and I think it is even better than I remember. Perhaps I am just able to appreciate it more now. The cocoa notes are deep and rich, there is a thick malty flavor, and there’s a hint of smoke at the end of the sip. The feel is full and silky. So, so good. I’m so happy to have this back in my cupboard!

I received my H&S order this week and had Queen Catherine for the first time. It’s very tasty, perfect tea of the morning.

Our time at the fair was really fun, and tonight they’re having a boat parade and fireworks along the river. :)

I’m already planning on drinking Queen Catherine tomorrow morning. It definitely has the heft I need to clear the sleepiness out of my brain.

Tea obsessed since 2010.

My Rating System:

100-95 = Teas I actively seek out and keep in my pantry. If you are a guest in my home chances are I will offer you one or all of these teas. Also, if/when these teas are discontinued I openly mourn their loss.

94-85 = Teas I truly like, often have in my pantry, and sometimes restock. These are my variety-is-the-spice-of-life teas.

84-75 = They’re good teas and I enjoy drinking them on occasion.

74-65 = These teas are ok, but not really my thing.

64-55 = meh.

54-45 = I will if I have no other option.

44 and below = Coffee, please.
