1118 Tasting Notes
Happy New Year!!!
I’m starting off 2015 in a quiet house with this lovely tea and lots of seed catalogs. I can stay warm and dream about being Farmer Brown once spring shows its face. Perfect. The tea is so robust and malty. It’s a great breakfast tea and a great winter tea.
Now, how big do I want my herb garden to be this year?
Preparation
I’m not moving all that fast today. I probably should have slept longer, but I have a lot I want to get done. To shake off the sleep and the blahs I grabbed my favorite chai. It’s sweet, spicy, smokey, and incredibly comforting. Love it.

Well, it looks like I’ve has this one before even though I don’t remember it. Guess that says something. Anyway, my feelings on this apparently haven’t changed. It’s a nice, bright tea with a clean finish. It doesn’t set off any bells and whistles for me, but it’s still nice.

Wow, this is good. Really good. The rooibos has a teensy bit of a woody note, but it blends rather well with the chocolate and orange. The citrus flavor is great. In fact this is one of the best orange herbals I’ve ever had. The chocolate is nice, too, with no artificial flavor or strange aftertaste.
I’m tempted to take this one out of the box, but there’s at least ten servings of this in the bag, so I’ll just snag one more and then pass it on. Good teas – and tisanes – need to be shared!

This is nice. It had a chocolate, raspberry, nutty thing going on that is pretty enjoyable. I added a little sugar which heightened all the flavors. The chocolate note is more dark than milk chocolate which works well with the raspberry. I don’t taste the Yerba mate at all, but that doesn’t really bother me.
I can’t say this is a tea I’d want every day, but on occasion I could see this being a fun treat.

This is nice and a bit different from other coconut flavored teas that I’ve tried. The tea itself has a dry hay note which blends very well with the coconut flavor. While the coconut is present it also seems softer… more delicate… than coconut usually is in teas. A really lovely cup and something I might pick up at a later date.

This is a nice vanilla tea. The vanilla doesn’t drown out the base tea, so both can be tasted throughout the sip. I also like that the vanilla doesn’t have an artificial flavor to it. This one is a keeper.
Preparation
Tea of the morning. I’ve received this tea twice in swaps, and I enjoyed it both times. Now I finally have my own bag of this. Yay for picking out my own Christmas presents! :)
I was curious to see how it would taste because the first time I had this it was full of sweet potato and floral notes. The second time I tasted chocolate and bread. This time? Sweet potato, honey, and nuts. It almost taste like that sweet potato casserole with the marshmallows on top (minus the marshmallows). In other words, it’s delightfully tasty. The sweet potato and nut flavors give it an earthy feel with the sweetness coming right at the end of the sip. Very smooth, very nice.
The second steep is similar to the first with a bready note add to the mix. As the tea cools I can taste malt as well. Both steeps were enjoyable. I’ll probably steep the leaves again later today. They definitely have more to give.

This was ok but not great. The tea had a mocha-like flavor, and while there were caramel notes they weren’t as light or as sweet as I’d prefer. I’m not sure if the base tea attributed to the mocha flavor or if a shorter steep time would help. I’m also not curious enough to find out, so back into the box it goes.
