Artichoke, mint, and a slight grassy flavour, with no bitterness or astringency whatsoever. There’s also a wonderful nutty aspect to it, the mouth feel is sublime and it is very fresh. I don’t LOVE green tea, but this cup is very enjoyable.

I like this. It’s nice. But I don’t necessarily feel like writing a ton about it. I’ve never found anything remotely similar to rhubarb in any of the supposed rhubarb teas I’ve had before this one. I am pleasantly surprised to find it here. I like the tang with the vanilla. There’s a strange flavour in there though, it comes and goes in an instant…Is it the hops? I’ve never had it so I really don’t know. I added sugar and I enjoyed it less.

I have procrastinated with this one as well. I think the reason why I don’t drink unflavoured oolongs, whites and greens as often is because I just want to sit down and enjoy them, focus on them and analyze them….Since my life is kind of crazy now, I don’t have time to do that, so these guys have been sitting on a shelf, begging for me to choose them for a while now.

I’m also extremely lazy with watching steep temps and too stingy to risk screwing up an expensive tea, so there’s that.

Had I checked the steeping guidelines on this one, I would’ve had it a lot sooner: boiling, 3 min….Really??? This is a white tea? Amazing.

It actually smells a lot like a black tea. Very malty (well, not very, but very for a white tea I guess :P) with honey. What a pleasant surprise! Now taste wise, I’m like :o . It’s so much more delicate than a black tea, but just as flavourful. Malt and sweet potato are the things that jump out at first, followed by a drizzle of honey. There’s also something that reminds me of fresh, raw, garden picked green peas in the background. What a lovely cup of tea.

I really love this. As a matter of fact, I just grabbed the bag, put it in my purse and said “You’re coming to work with me, you.” Lucky.

Ok, I ordered from Teavivre like 225 years ago and I still haven’t tried a single one. What is WRONG with me?

Tonight is the night and this is my first pick. It is very soft with a velvety texture. The scent is floral, but the taste is not. As soon as it hits my tongue, it is almost salty, and when that saltiness starts to tone down, I meet the beautifully smooth taste of cream, with a barely there vegetal je-ne-sais-quoi. I can’t remember the last time I had a straight oolong and I feel like I’ve been punishing myself or something. Oolong is so GOOD! I should have it more often. Why don’t I have it more often? Oh yeah, I’m too lazy to check my water temp ha.

This tea smells so good, omg it’s awesome. Flavour-wise, although I am enjoying it, I do seem to find it lacking. I am having it warm, and I feel like this one’s really meant to be had iced. Adding sweetener did nothing to enhance the flavour. All in all, not a bad tea, but I’ve had better.

I don’t know why I felt like having this so bad, but it did not disappoint: the spices are just right and there is a wonderful rich brown sugar note at the end of each sip. I haven’t really had time to drink much tea lately whimper but soon things at work will calm down and I’ll be able to focus on things like having a life. :(

drank Birthday Cake by Butiki Teas

I had the chance to drink only one sip of this before running off to do other things, and by the time I came back to my cup it was cold. BUT, that one sip was very very enjoyable: a very light tea, with a delicate flavour, which is the qualities I look for in actual cake. Good news: none of that odd flavouring that seems to be in every single cake flavoured tea I’ve tried.. The second best cake tea I have had. Because number one is Butiki’s Red Queen Cupcake :)

I screwed this one up too. Sorry Stacy :( I’m taking all your beautiful teas and making them into cups of hot messes. It was astringent and bitter, with perhaps some malt going on and no other flavours really. This was a sample….I may just order an ounce next time, to give it a real chance.

Blasphemer! Just kidding… Sometimes it just goes wrong. :)

Bio

I was introduced to the world of tea after trying to find a way to stop binging on sugar at night (I have a bit of insomnia). Then I had the brilliant idea of going to David’s Tea to get some sweet dessert-y teas to replace all the crap I was eating, whilst still satisfying my sweet tooth.

And then I tried an Oolong and I was done for.

So this is me, exploring the world of tea with excitement, spending way too much money on it, drinking impressive amounts of it, and although I do love flavoured teas, I am now beginning to try high quality straight teas, and trying to learn as much as I can. I have rarely been so passionate about something so quickly.

My boyfriend thinks I am crazy with all my teas. I actually hide some from him when I get deliveries, just so he won’t panic haha. When he does say something, I just reply that to me, tasting tea is like tasting wine, and it brings me the same kind of joy as eating chocolate or eating fine food. Only better.

Flavours I Like: Most fruits, Cinnamon, Licorice, Cloves, Pepper, Caramel, Vanilla, Chocolate, Cardamom, Floral Teas, Honey, Coffee, Pastry/Bread, Smoky, Woody

Flavours I dislike: strong vegetal tastes (a little is ok), Rooibos, Mate, Lemon, Raspberry (for the most part), Orange, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Overpowering Mint,

Other than that, un-related to tea, I love make-up artistry, parrots and birds (in real life, not objects lol), crime and trial stories, flowers, baking, wine, reading, collecting teapots and mugs and stand-up comedy.

I love Dexter, Orange is the New Black, Hannibal, all reality food and cooking series…

As I’m re-reading this I can’t help but to notice how I love extra dark things and extra happy things with no real middle. Hm. xD “I like staying up to date on murder trials…and drinking tea while bird watching!” I’m NOT weird, I swear. :)
