I love the spices in this tea. I accidentally left it and steeped it for about 40 minutes, but when I came back it was ready to be guzzled down. It tasted a bit like a watery mocha (but a good one!). And of course, I’m full of energy. For some reason it reminded me of toothpaste (it didn’t taste like it, it just made me think of toothpaste when I was drinking it). Weird.

I was really skeptical to try this tea, as I’m not a fan of coconut. But it was truly very good! The coconut really takes a backseat and the vanilla steps in to make it very smooth. I don’t know what buttered rum is supposed to taste like, but it’s a nice warming dessert tea.

If you like wintergreen gum, you’ll love this! It’s the lightest colour tea I’ve ever seen – It barely even changes the colour of the water. It tastes just like those white, wintergreen lifesavers.

The secret to this tea is in the preparation. It is best when made on the stove top in a pot. OH me oh my. It is like drinking an Indian food dish, drenched in the most fabulous hot sauce. The spiciness of the peppercorn is positively mind blowing, and adds such a robust, lingering flavour to this tea. Such a great wake up tea. I love watching the leaves roll as they boil. Normally I like chai with a bit of milk and sugar – but both ruin this one. Maybe I just like my tea hot n’ spicy. Anyway, it’s great, and if you haven’t made it on the stove top yet, please do!

I do like this tea. I enjoy it most with a MAXIMUM three minute steep and water just short of boiling, because I find it becomes very bitter. Today, however, I decided to boil it on the stove top as I like to do with my Saigon Chai. Save yourself the trouble, don’t do it. It turned out as dark as coffee, and was so bitter I couldn’t drink it. Not the bitterness of green tea, it was more of a.. resounding bitterness that rendered this cup undrinkable. I ended up dousing it in agave and milk, to make it just okay. It just doesn’t change my life the way that I wish it would – This is one that I truly wish tasted the way that it smelled. Not only that, I feel like as a chai, this tea should be able to handle heavy steeping for those who like to bring out the spiciness (or in this case, pumpkin-ness). Also, AS A CHAI, I feel like this tea is way way too sweet. This tea should be called Pumpkin Muffin or some crap, because I’m just not getting any resounding chai out of it.
Sorry for being as bitter as my tea.

This peppermint tea is positively delightful. I found it at the grocery store, oddly enough, and although it was on the expensive side (I believe $8.95 for 45g), I’ve been trying to find a deep, flavourful, earthy, sinus clearing, eye stinging, strong peppermint. So, I was willing to shell out a little bit of extra cash in the pursuit of this tea.
First off, I love its simplicity. I know, I know, why wouldn’t it be simple? It’s peppermint. But there’s something so innocent and sweet about peppermint tea.
This one is actually quite strong. I used 3 tsp for about 20 oz. I also used my Brewt (http://www.brewts.com/brewt_brewt.cfm) for this tea, in order to extract all of its peppermint-y delight. I’m also being a weirdo and pouring it out of my Brewt sip by sip, just so it stays hot and keeps steeping. But hey, I can do it, so why not?
It’s currently a perfect amber liquor. I am enjoying it immensely. It has succeeded in actually: Burning my eyes, clearing my sinuses, and has accomplished a deep, full body. But where is the earthiness? When I say earthiness, I almost want my peppermint to have a bit of a raw, dirt-like taste underneath. I don’t want my peppermint tea to taste like dirt, but I want it to taste like it came from the ground. A little bit. Of course, I’m comparing to the best peppermint tea I’ve ever had – and you can only purchase it at Ste. Anne’s Spa (or online) here in Ontario, which runs at $14 per 35g. http://www.steannes.com/tea.html.
Anyway, in conclusion, for a grocery store purchase, it’s all systems go. GOOD ENOUGH!

Ommmmmmmmm nom nom nom nom. Super delicious – But I feel like THIS should be Mom’s Apple Pie, not the sham of a green tea offered by David. Anyway, in my opinion this tea is just not nutty enough to be named Forever Nuts. It is SO apple-y and cinnamon-y. But I do love it in its beautiful simplicity.
On an interesting note, I accidentally fell asleep while steeping it in my tumbler one night (whoops) but decided to drink it in the morning. THAT was Forever Nuts. It was so overly nutty that I could barely drink it (actually, I didn’t).
Another day, I was too tired to drink it and left it to steep in the fridge overnight, then put it in my fruit smoothie in the morning. Yum Yum Yum.
I should probably stop having this tea when I’m too tired to drink it.

I’m just not there. I want to be there, but this tea is not for me. I dislike the hibiscus in this blend, and the mixing of cinnamon is simply inappropriate. I don’t even know if I like the fruitiness. I’ll have to give this one a try on another day – I have one more cup left in my sample. I’ll let you know if anything changes, but right now, Sleigh Ride, is not me, it’s you.

**Edit: When first trying Sleigh Ride, I was revelling in how similar this tea smells to Forever Nuts. I wasn’t willing to give Sleigh Ride another chance but I needed to get rid of it (tea overload), so I decided to mix the rest with Forever Nuts and throw it on ice for a beautifully fruity iced tea (about 1.5 tsp of SR/2 tsp of FN, for 20 oz. cup). OH GOOD GOD. I tried it hot before I iced it – COMPLETELY AWFUL. It was so bad, I couldn’t even let it sit on my tongue long enough to figure out what flavours made it so awful. I tried it iced, marginally less awful. I put agave in it, still somewhat undrinkable. I had to put lemonade in this tea just to be able to drink it. Anyway, if anyone comes up with the idea of mixing this tea with Forever Nuts, unless you’re REALLY daring, don’t do it!
Sleigh Ride, it’s OVER. THROUGH! KAPUT.

Such a fabulous tea. I WAS drinking it with milk and sugar, but I recently invested in some agave, and what a great investment that was. It brings out the lovely citrusy-bergamot flavours in this tea wonderfully, without over sweetening it or any of the strange stuff that sugar will do to your cup. I can’t drink this tea unsweetened, because for some reason it tastes bitter for me (anyone else taste that bitterness too?). BUT I love not having to put milk in it, because it just seems strange for a green tea. Not for an earl grey, but just the fact that it’s green. It’s not an everyday cup of tea for me, but definitely pleasant and enjoyable whenever I’m in the mood.
Another note, I wish it was as citrus-y as it smells, but I think that might just be part of my eternal quest to find a perfectly strong citrus tea. I should probably just be drinking orange or grapefruit juice, but alas, I have taken it upon myself to find the perfect citrus tea.
And one more thing: On my second steep of this baby, it had this weirdly long, string-y tail of sediment in it. Being as curious as I am, I tried to pull it out of my cup, but it was just as elusive as my perfect citrus tea. C’est la vie.
