1596 Tasting Notes
I’ve really enjoyed trying Chroma’s blends. I’ve had this one for quite awhile, but just got around to trying it today.
It’s really beautiful and has giant pineapple chunks.
I think I need to try this again before giving it a rating- I mostly tasted cinnamon and some generic citrus flavor, despite the large pineapple chunks. The ration in my scoop must’ve been off.
I got home from my trip for school yesterday…and I have COVID. cry I managed to avoid it this long, but it seemed inevitable. Luckily it’s not too bad (feels like a low grade cold), and I haven’t lost my sense of taste or smell.
I tend to drink lots of herbal blends when I’m sick. Decided to finally give this a try. It’s nice! A bit of lavender, but mostly strawberry…and blueberry? I don’t think there’s blueberry in the ingredients, but I definitely taste blueberry.
There’s a bit of a creamy mouthfeel from the marshmallow root.
Flavors: Blueberry, Lavender, Strawberry
By the end of the conference, it was this and a sleepytime Bigelow blend as the remaining options. I figured a sleep blend wouldn’t be great as I was trying to make it through a full day of lectures. So, ended up with this.
This is not good. This is abysmal. I cringed everyt ime I took a sip. I’m not really sure what I was tasting, but I know it wasn’t good.
I’ve been in New Orleans over the last few days for an “immersion weekend” for the law school I’m attending. The tea situation was dreadful. No coffee pot or kettle in the room, and the only source of hot water available was in the overpriced restaurant in the lobby of the hotel (which was only open from 7am-11am)…which I had to pay $4 for. So, for the most part, I ended up just drinking whatever was available at the event itself, which was exclusively a range of Bigelow blends.
This was…fine. It was orange, it was spice. It was pretty unremarkable, but it was tea.
I was gifted a single teabag of this blend. Very glad it was given to me, as I never would have purchased it on my own- I’ve been burned by honey/chamomile blends too many times before. They always have stevia (blechhhh) or licorice root so strong it dominates the entire cup. Luckily, this one has neither and made for a really lovely evening blend. The chamomile is most dominant, with a bit of honey and vanilla balancing the chamomile out nicely.
Actually quite a nice bedtime blend and one I would purchase in the future.
This is a really delicious strawberry blend! I’m not getting and bergamot, and would definitely not classify this as an EG, but it’s a tasty strawberry tea. I got a particularly large dried strawberry in the cup I enjoyed this morning, which really amplified the authentic (not candy) strawberry flavor.
I ended up buying more…I couldn’t resist.
Despite being one of their lest expensive options, this is still the best matcha I have ever had. I ended up buying the cold brew bottle they offer as well. Just shook this up with ice and a tiny bit of honey (fresh from the Salish Lodge hives), and boy oh boy. This is delightful.
The bright green color instantly boosts my mood. It’s beautiful!
Absolutely not trace of bitterness- smooth and grassy. Absolute perfect iced matcha.
