I just finished off the matcha genmaicha from the unknown brand that I had as an iced tea, and it was absolutely delicious. Wanting more, I scoured my stash to find another. I’m pretty sure this is the only matcha genmaicha I have left, so decided to finish it off as a cold brew.

It’s relatively old, and I didn’t store it all that well, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it’s still quite nice. Mostly the toasty genmai flavor, with just a touch of grassiness. Unfortunately it’s a bit bitter, especially compared to the impeccably smooth blend I just had (wish I knew what it was, because I would repurchase).

Flavors: Bitter, Grass, Toasty

LuckyMe

Matcha goes stale pretty rapidly and can affect the flavor of teas it’s blended with. I always buy regular genmaicha and mix in a little matcha when needed.

I became obsessed with the world of tea through DavidsTea years ago. I love to try new brands, so I’m constantly on the look out for new-to-me companies.
