I keep on getting distracted to work and so my tea is a bit lukewarm. :( Definitely better when it’s piping hot and has my full attention.

I made my aunts a cup of this tea (they’ve only ever had Green tea) and they were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this tea. It has a subtle sweetness they commented on. I’m happily enjoying it with a little extra sweetness. <3

This tea had been on my list of teas to buy and luckily, my cousin gave me the rest of her tin. This is a bit of a mild tasting earl grey which is pleasant and easy to drink, but really lacking the impact that a few other Earl Grey blends that I love has.

The second steeping was more washed out than the first cup. Overall, drinkable but I don’t think I’ll get a tin of it on my own anymore.

drank Genmai Cha by Sugimoto America

Picked this up at my local Japanese market and I love it. The tea comes out this bright green and the notes of roasted flavoring from the brown rice blends really well with the matcha. A very mild manner tea that would go perfect with some food or just a nice cup to unwind with later in the day.

ScottTeaMan

Years ago I tried Genmai Cha and didn’t like it, but now my tea tastes and brewing habits have changed. I’m pretty sure I would enjoy it. :)

Anna Vu

You should also try blending grain teas with different teas as well. It’s definitely similar to genmai cha but you get to control the roasted flavoring however you want. I recommend trying some Buckwheat tea with a sencha to start and the blend as your heart desires after. I like a stronger hint of roasted flavoring.

ScottTeaMan

I’always wanted to try Buckwheat Tea, & I really enjoy Sencha. Have you ever tried Soybean Tea? It was so good-so sweet with no sweetener. Then I’d eat the soybeans-usually plain, but sometimes with just a little sugar or honey. It was rather filling, & a good light lunch. :)

Anna Vu

For buckwheat tea, I recommend getting this: http://www.teao2.com/puripan-loose-leaf-herbal-tea-tartary-buckwheat-35061.html
I love Puripan. They used to have a shop open near my house but they closed… :( Luckily I can still find their teas online!

ScottTeaMan

Thanks Anna, I’ll try some soon {bookmarking page}. My Soybean tea is really hard to find, but there are other sources out there, probably are similar.

ScottTeaMan

I just finished my Genmaicaha sample from H & S 10-28-11, and I really enjoyed it. I’m gonna send you a surprise sample from H & S. I really hope you enjoy it….:))

My morning daze nearly had me brew this wrong but I’m glad to say that I managed to blend it with hot water before I took the first sip. Mmmm… cardamom…..

Iced earl grey with some splenda to sweeten it up is a happy way to escape from the heat. Got this cuppa from my local coffee joint and really like it. For some reason I never thought to drink ice tea before I had it here but now I’m a huge fan.

ScottTeaMan

Iced EG is one of, if not, my favorite iced tea. I almost always drink it plain. Since I found my Chai, I’ve been drinking it Iced & it is so refreshing!

I saw this at Whole Foods the other day. It was tempting.

drank Earl Grey by Samovar

My second morning cup. Sadly, I noticed that my tea tin is nearly gone. Must get more Earl Grey soon … it’s just a matter of figuring out what brand I want….

ScottTeaMan

What is your Favorite Earl Grey? I haven’t tried alot of brands, but I like Harney’s EG Supreme, and Stash’s regular EG.

Anna Vu

Right now, I’m a fan of Samovar’s, Puripan’s, and I do enjoy Harney’s as well. I tried the one from Teavana before and it was a bit too floral and kinda soapy to me … :/

ScottTeaMan

So is it the floral quality that makes a tea soapy to you? I really enjoy floral teas like JASMINE tea. Some can be quite floral. Maybe it is an artificial tasting “floral” that makes it soapy. I don’t mean to dwell on the soapy issue, I’m just trying to understand it…..:))

ScottTeaMan

I could try Teavana’s soapy EG, but I’m not gonna try it if it is soapy…:/

I prepared it by packing a tea bag and brewing a little over half a pot of tea with it. After, I fished out the tea bag and filled the rest of the tea pot with hot water. Served with some sugar cubes and drunk with a smile.

I really enjoy this tea. The leaves are quite fragrant and have a perfume scent when you smell it from the package. The black tea taste is subtle but the cardamom flavors stings your taste bud in the most delightful manner.

I’m most likely going to hyper all day since I made myself an entire pot of the tea. So worth it.
