drank Lemon - AID by 52teas

My boy and I are relaxing after some intense yoga with a nice glass of iced Lemon Aid. This is better than lemonade and better for you. No sugar necessary. Smooth, bold, naturally sweet, herby, lemony goodness. Since it’s not a permanent I might just have to order some herbs and try to make some myself.

Wow. This is nice. I can definitely see why this won top accolade in the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards. Like a cup of caramel. Such a unique full bodied smoothness yet still fresh and interesting. I also see how easy this is to get hooked on. Can’t stop drinking this one. So enjoyable!

I recently ordered a pound of this, (since it’s not available in loose leaf in a smaller size,) should be arriving today or tomorrow! Tonight I managed to find some Vanilla Comoro in my now overflowing tea stash (that needs a good organizing,) from quite a while ago so I figured what the heck, maybe it’s still good. So I steeped up a cup and it’s still quite lovely! I forgot how amazing the aroma is. Almost better than the taste. Mmm. Cuppa comfort.

I have never had the nerve to order a whole pound of any tea! It must be very very good, cause that is a whole lot of tea How long does that last you for?

Ashley Bain

Well I wish it was available in a smaller size! Not that I don’t love it, but I like to buy in small amounts so the tea stays fresh. I’ve never bought a pound of tea before, I’m guessing it would last quite a while! But I’ll probably give some away.

ashmanra

Mine has lasted very well. Also, it helps to mix it up a little, as I have heard that some of the vanilla bean specks settle and it tastes more consistently caramel-y if you mix it up a bit. Enjoy! Tis is one that I often find another person wants to split a bag. Maybe you could find a tea accomplice!

MegWesley

I bet tea accomplices would be easy to find on here of all places. The tea sounds tasty. It makes me want to check out Harney and Sons and see what else they have too.

Uniquity

I have a pound of Vanilla Comoro, and I am considering someday getting a pound of Tower of London (as I love it so) as shipping to Canada from harneys was expensive and a bit of an ordeal last time for me. Of course, this pound of vanilla comoro might last me years, which isn’t ideal. I’m triyng to find a tea friend in my neighbourhood to go halfsies with me.

ashmanra

Invite people over and give them a cup of tea. One of them is bound to get addicted! :)

ashmanra

My problem with ToL was the TOO many people wanted to share the bag! LOL! And that was one I never did divide. We drink enough of it to put away a pound in plenty of time.

This is definitely my cup of tea. Rating’s going up. Thanks so much for turning me on to this one, Erin! SO great for a bagged tea. I wasn’t feeling amazing so I steeped this double strength for 40 seconds and poured over ice. So awesome. I feel a million times better. Probably the most refreshing iced tea ever. I need to stock up on this. So clean and pure tasting. Feels like it clears my mind. Sip. Deep breathe. Ahhhhh. This would pair good with yoga.

This was one of the teas that got me Into Tea in the first place. Drank a cup every morning my freshman year of college. Love it.

Ashley Bain

So surprisingly good.

Mehh. So. My story with this tea.. And why I can’t give it a numerical rating…

I had first read the review about a snail in someone’s Blazing Strawberry tea. Which made me wonder.. if I had the same batch that had been snail infested. Or a different batch and snails just took a liking to this tea and decided to make it their home.
So I have to say I already had a bit weary apprehension before steeping this up.
Very cool looking dry leaves, smelled of yummy strawberry candy with buttery vegetal notes as it was steeping. But when I went to remove the leaves when the steeping time was up, I noticed something strange looking floating in my cup.
It looked like a translucent worm or mucousy tubey something or another….. and it appeared to have a weird opening on one end that looked like a mouth with teeth. So I fished it out and put it on a plate to dissect. I slit it lengthwise and I was already grossed out but I’m quite the curious person. I noticed something that appeared to look like veins and scraped out what appeared to look like purplish blood. So at this point I was still on the fence of whether this was some strange plant or weird insect or snail larvae or something. :/
Then I looked up the ingredients and googled mallow blossoms. It’s very possible that it was an unopened mallow blossom, the purple being the purple color of the unopened petals… I hope.
So anyways after all of that I still decided to take a reluctant sip…because I’m a brave person, and I did.. but just couldn’t bring myself to drink any more after my dissection and the story of the snail. I was just too grossed out to even drink this whether it be silly or not. So down the drain it went. ._.

I don’t blame you. I would have been grossed out too. To this day I can’t eat corned beef and cabbage because my step-mom made it one year using cabbage grown fresh out of our garden… and she failed to clean it properly. Well, by the time it was boiling… there were worm floaters.

So now, I can’t even think about corned beef and cabbage without thinking about worms. eww, ick, gross, icky ick ick!

Ashley Bain

:| Traumatizing.
On a better note, I just read your last post on your blog about that ketchup. I’m neither a huge fan of ketchup (I was always a mustard girl,) nor if I didn’t have boyfriends (present and past,) that lathered everything in ketchup, (what’s up with guys doing that?,) I most likely wouldn’t have had any in my refrigerator. (I seriously had one ex that was oddly obsessed with ketchup. Ketchup on absolutely EVERYTHING… he even tried his best to convert me to a ketchup addict. :|) And coming from someone that absolutely loves to cook, I relate to your frustration of people ruining your food with ketchup. Many a times have I yelled "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!! YOU’RE RUINING THE FLAVORS!! APPRECIATE THE FOOD!! hahaha. sigh. .)
But I have to say that ketchup you reviewed sounds fantastic, I’ve got to get my hands on some of that. I’m picky as heck about tomatoes. If I’m going to eat them fresh they have to be garden grown. And if I’m eating spaghetti sauce it’s got to be the exact kind I like. It sounds like Sir Kensington could be the guy that could actually convert me to ketchup obsession. Yum.

Devilish

OMG this is just gross! I hope you won’t develop PTSD and phobia of David’s Tea…

Indigobloom

eeeeep! I hope you can get another batch to try.
When I was a kid I went to a steakhouse with my parents on vacay (do you know Damons?) and my baked potato came with a cockroach scorched into the potato underneath the foil. Worst part was that my parents didn’t believe me at first lol
I couldn’t eat baked potato for years after that!!!

Daisy Chubb

Ah bad things in foods!
Well, first world problems I suppose. I used to work at Subway and I cut open a green pepper and there was a bright green (not alive) grasshopper inside! That’s my only surprising bug food story haha, but don’t be scared! I threw the pepper away (of course)
Now! Off to beat my boyfriend at video games. He’s trying to beat my high score – I’ll show him.

Ashley Bain

Eeeew guys.

Once at McDonalds a cockroach crawled out from underneath my mom’s cheeseburger. The employees saw it happen and they just acted like it happened all the time. Which it probably does.

Devilish – no way! I’m too in love with Davids Teas. Not even gross wormy looking things could pull me away. haha.

Indigo – Thankfully this was just a sample. And that’s one of the nastiest things I’ve ever heard. Bleeghh!!

GO DAISY! I just got done doing some intense yoga with my boy. Relaxing with some iced Lemon Aid from 52Teas. Ahhh.

Maxime-Daniel Friðrikson

“Beurk!” That’s disgusting… I’ve never found any bad point for DT but now… Duh :( I’ve always think they were perfect…

Ashley Bain

won’t ruin my love for Davids! Nothing could! haha.

This reminded me a lot of Frank’s Cinnamon Roll Honeybush. Strong pastry notes, the strongest I’ve smelled in a tea. I loved the tea base; one of the best I’ve tasted from 52 Teas, make more blends with this base, Frank!
I expected more peach flavor. I’m starting to realize I’m not too fond of artificial/natural blackberry flavors. It just adds an odd, perfumy, unidentifiable fruit note in my opinion. I would have absolutely loved this as just Peach Crumble. More peach flavor and scratch the blackberry flavor.
I do have to say if you removed the blackberry flavors in this tea it would taste to me like Cinnamon Roll Honeybush with instead a black tea base, and I think people would absolutely love it.
The high rating from me is mostly coming from the nice tea base and what this could be!

I’m looking forward to trying this one… probably will wait another week though… I just got around to trying the Lemon-Lime Cheesecake! haha!

Ashley Bain

I thought Lemon-Lime Cheesecake was a pretty nice herby tasting tea.

drank Autumn Flush by Golden Tips

This truly tastes like Fall. I swear I can taste autumn spices in this tea some how, (which I know that’s not why it’s called Autumn Flush, but it surely tastes like Fall some how!), especially on the cool-down. Also noticing tobacco notes. Smooth. Quite an interesting third flush! I’ll be having this again!

drank Spring Flush by Golden Tips

A perky first flush with delicate floral and honey notes with quite a bit of smokiness that becomes more apparent on the cool-down. Truly tastes like spring, like new life! Would be a lovely tea to drink as the sun is rising as it tastes like the start of a new day. Lovely.

drank Jubilee Tea by Golden Tips

This reminded me so much of catfish and carp. In a good way. Steeps to a bright, vivid, golden yellow liquor, very different from the golden orange color of all other darjeelings I have tried. Smooth and toasty with quite a bit of depth.
