Thanks Scheherazade for sending me this one.

I love nutty teas, especially when it’s the only flavour and it’s not masked by other flavours. Unfortunately, I didn’t find this terribly nutty. I could detect a hint of almond now and then, but for the most part it was just a sweet black tea.

Thanks CharlotteZero for sending me this one!

I love banana teas, and I really love Frank’s Banana pudding tea so I really wanted to try this one. It’s not bad, but I didn’t realize that there was cinnamon flavouring in this, I guess I should have read the description. I am not a fan of the cinnamon flavouring Frank uses, but it was quite faint in this one, so it didn’t bother me too much. I am glad I got to try this as I won’t be tempted to buy it if it comes out again.

Both adagio breeze and TeaTiff sent me a sample of this one. Thanks ladies!

I really wanted to try this one due to the great reviews and the prospect of a chocolate genmaicha, but it didn’t live up to expectations. It is good, but I am not getting any chocolate like I was hoping to. I am getting a very nutty, toasty black tea. It’s quite tasty, but not what I was hoping it would be. I should have waited until after I tried it to order it from Verdant, I mean that was the purpose of asking for a sample of it in 2 swaps! I just can’t help myself when it comes to online shopping, especially online shopping for tea! Oh well, I know I can get through the bag.

I have heard this comment from several people. The chocolate through me for a loop too the first time I tried it. I set this tea down, took the word chocolate out of my memory and tried it a few weeks later. Then it was love!

Thanks to Memily for sending this one to me!

I have been waiting to try this one because it has chocolate in it, which means sugar, which means a big no-no on my diet. I decided that this morning would be a cheat morning and am trying all my black teas from recent swaps with agave in them.

This one is really good! The chocolate is very subtle, but I like that! The black tea base is malty and delicious! I will save this one for my cheat days!

Hooray, a winner!

I need to bump the rating of this up. I would say I can’t believe the rating is so low, but there are only three ratings, so it hasn’t had much of a chance.

I wanted to pick this up when they came out but I was (and still am) on a diet so I stopped myself. I went to go grab one just before valentines day and they were sold out! I was so sad! But then I read some of the reviews and thought maybe it was for the best. But I went into the store this week and noticed they were back :) I mentioned to the sales lady that is was poorly rated on steepster and she was genuinely surprised, she said it was all the employees favourite one. So I went for it! I also had to pick up a second one of course, 2 for $10! I picked up the cream of earl grey dark chocolate because dark chocolate is my fave! I also love white chocolate! I love milk chocolate too, but not as much as the other two so I usually only pick it up when I find one with an interesting flavour.

Having one square of this tonight as a treat. When you’re on a diet you have to shock your body once in a while with some sugar, just to keep it in check ;) Wow this is good! Like a really sweet and creamy green tea ice cream! I love green tea ice cream and I think I love this more. I am going back to the store to buy 2 more of these to keep in the freezer for later!

I actually received a sample of this from both KittyLovesTea and adagio breeze. Thanks ladies!

This one smelled really good, very much like raspberry truffle. I added 1 tsp to my 12-16 oz DAVIDsTEA to go mug and topped it off with milk. The first few sips were great! It tasted like raspberry truffle. It brought back good memories of their mint chocolate matcha I loved so much. The flavour level was distinctive, but it was just too much so that it became nauseating after the first few sips. The chocolate was detectable but just barely so. The raspberry flavour turned into more of a licorice, floral, perfumey flavour.

I was thinking it might be better if I cut it with plain matcha, so I will try that, but my hopes aren’t high because I don’t think the flavour will change, it will just be lighter. I am soooo glad I was able to try this as it was at the top of my list and I would not want to purchase a whole bag of this now.

Sadly, out of the 4 Red Leaf matchas I’ve tried, I’ve only liked the mint chocolate matcha. The others were always good the first few sips, but the flavours were just so strong and artificial that I become sick of them very quiclly. I have a sample of caramel matcha sitting in my fridge, that will be next. I really want to find another one that I like because I loved the chocolate mint and would like to make an order.

Thanks Schmiracles for sparing some of this tea!

This one I really like. I could tell before I brewed it that it was going to be a good one. It smelled like raspberry jam or those cookies that have that red jelly centre, can’t remember the name of them. I’m also getting strong raspberry jam in the taste, and some buttery cookie type flavour, but that is quite subtle compared to the raspberry. I used up the whole sample on this cup, so I’m glad I’m enjoying it. If I ever made a DF order, I would definitely get this!

Thanks Schmiracles for sending me a sample of this tea!

This was also a miss for me. There was flavour to this one, but not very strong and again I couldn’t tell what flavours were in it. The description lists quite a few flavours but I didn’t really get any of those. I still have enough for one more cup so I will try this one again with milk and agave or honey. Honey makes everything better :)

I have done so many swaps this month and have so many teas to try. I thought today would be a Schmiracles day!

This one didn’t do it for me. I wasn’t getting a lot of flavour out of it, I couldn’t even tell you what flavour it’s supposed to be if I didn’t already know. And the base wasn’t anything special, not enough to make up for the lack of flavour. It’s not bad, just not something I would care to order myself. I will try this again with milk and agave on a cheat day and see if it improves.

Mmmmm, this is good. Thanks to CharlotteZero for this one!
I’m getting mainly stewed cherry in this, but also some muted spice notes. Reminds me a little of mulled wine. I’m not getting the honey, which is ok, though I do love honey! This holds up well with skim milk and sweetener, which is a plus for me, not all teas do.

I didn’t drink a lot of tea growing up, just the red rose my nana would make me with about 3 teaspoons of sugar added to it. I started getting into loose leaf tea about a decade ago when I visited our local tea house and tried Rooibos for the first time, though I only drank it on occasion. I didn’t get serious about it until David’s tea came to town. I was on a diet and wanted something I could drink without sugar that had a lot of flavours to choose from.

I prefer black teas, but oolong and green come in a close second. White and guayusa are in the middle, while mate, rooibos and herbals are at the bottom of my list.

Likes: banana, jasmine, pumpkin, lychee, blueberry, chocolate
Dislikes: orange, ginger, rose, hibiscus, butterscotch, honeybush

My non-tea related interests are music, camping, poker, softball, snowboarding, biology and animals. I have 2 dogs and they are my whole life.
