This tea was pretty good, but kind of a cross between blueberry jam and the earl’s garden without the bergamot. I’d rather have those than this, so this one is out. I don’t like the acai powder in this, it gives it a bit of a chalky texture, just like the new cocoberry tea.

I love banana teas! I would say, next to pumpkin, banana is my favourite tea flavour. This banana tea is good, not my favourite, but good. I found I had to add more agave than normal to get the flavour right for me. I will easily finish my 50g pouch of this, but I don’t know that I would buy it again as there are better banana black teas out there. I think this is mostly due to the pairing with the coconut, which is very faint here. I prefer my banana paired with nuts ;)

I picked this one up as Teavana are phasing it out and it’s 30% off, and I was also trying to get up to 500g to get the additional 10% off. Holy shit! They got me good! I’ve never bought that much tea in once place, and considering I was kind of weary of Teavana due to less than glowing reviews and the fact that all of their tea has way to much fruit and junk in it for me. I was actually shocked to see exactly how much non-tea ingredients they put in their teas, I wanted to try the spice of life oolong but I could barely see any oolong in it, you’d be lucky to get 2 leaves in a teaspoon.
They still somehow managed to con me into buying 500g, which doesn’t get you a lot there because of how weighed down their teas are. 150g of that was for a friend and she got the slender strawberry pu’erh which smelled amazing and I can’t wait to try.
I bought 7 different teas for myself and this was the 4th I’ve tried. I’ve only been impressed with one of them, the raspberry riot lemon mate, which was still only ‘good’, not amazing.
This tea has a good flavour. This is the first grape based tea I’ve had and I quite like it. The flavour is quite robust and covers up the rooibos so it tastes more like a herbal. There is one thing I can’t quite get past though. I know I over steeped this but I don’t think that contributed to it, maybe I just got a bad batch, but there is an overwhelming smell of sweaty gym socks! You can’t smell it in the dry leaf, only once it’s brewed, and you can smell it every time you take a sip. It doesn’t taste like gym socks at all, but it might as well. I am going to try this again at a lower brewing temp and less time and see if that gets rid of it.
I wonder if anyone else has found this….

My order from 52 teas came on Friday after 3 weeks of waiting, but I had a bad cold so I couldn’t smell or taste anything! I am finally feeling better today and have my sense of taste back so I couldn’t wait to try out some of the teas. This one is first because it’s 9:00 at night and the rest of my order is caffeinated.
There are no brewing instructions on the bag which is fine because I never follow them anyway, so I threw 2 teaspoons of this stuff in my steeper with 12 oz of water, what can I say, I like my tea strong.
I’ve never had a honeybush base tea before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ordered this because I’m on a mission to find the perfect pear tea and I can always use decaf teas as I have a strict no caffeine after 5pm policy. I also liked the sound of the pear blended with vanilla.
I must have over leafed because the tea turned dark brown instantly when I added the water, so I only let it steep 3 or 4 mins. The first few sips while the tea was still hot were pretty uneventful. I didn’t taste much besides the honeybush. As it cools I’m getting more flavour, but I can’t say it’s a pear flavour, just a fruity flavour with a honeybush aftertaste. I know Frank only uses organic natural flavours but the flavour isn’t all that natural tasting. I am going to play around with the amounts and times a bit to see if that makes a difference.
This isn’t a bad tea, it’s actually quite pleasant, but not something I would purchase again if it was re-blended. I might even include this in a swap down the road if it doesn’t get better for me.

For myself, I have the best luck with Frank’s teas when brewing 2 min 30 sec at less than boiling.

I’ve only ever drank this tea as sample in the store, but I’ve had it many times as I always think that it might grow on me or maybe it was made wrong the previous time and it will be fine today. WRONG! I don’t taste any fruit in this tea, all I taste is vitamins, it’s very medicinal tasting. But I’ll probably keep trying the samples because I really want to taste what everybody else is tasting!

I went into Teavana to get one of their pear teas as I’ve been trying to find a good pear tea. I chose this one over their pear white tea as it had a stronger smell, though it was almost too perfumey. When I got it home I gave it another smell and it actually reminded me of nail polish remover. Once brewed, it was quite pleasant. It was tart and fruity, reminded me of the Japanese sour cherry from silk road. I can’t say that it tasted like pear though. My hunt continues…

drank To Life by Teavana

I bought this tea so that I could get my purchase to 500g and get 10% off. It was definitely not my first choice and I think I actually meant to get spice of life, but asked for this one instead. It didn’t smell too bad in the store, not a strong smell. The taste is the same, very weak on the flavour. All I taste is the rooibos and an aftertaste I get with all rooibos teas. There is also a faint fruity flavour but it doesn’t taste like any particular fruit. A lot of reviews say this tea is heavy on the jasmine but I didn’t find that.

I bought this tea online from DAVIDs on clearance. I thought it sounded interesting and it was half price, so why not! The first time I drank this tea I thought it was just OK, nothing special. The second time I tried this tea I thought it was awful. Very bad artificial flavour, and leaves a bad aftertaste. I was packing this up for a tea swap last week and even the smell made me nauseous (not to discourage anyone from swapping this with me in the future, some people like it).

I picked up a cup of this to go for a friend one day along with some other teas for other friends. When I got into the car, I could smell this mouth watering sweet smell, like melting party mints (those little coloured chocolate mint rosebud things). I had to try this the next time I went in and it’s awesome! It definitely has one of the strongest flavours of all the teas I’ve tasted. My favourite David’s chocolate tea. I usually don’t like mint but I love it in this tea!

I didn’t drink a lot of tea growing up, just the red rose my nana would make me with about 3 teaspoons of sugar added to it. I started getting into loose leaf tea about a decade ago when I visited our local tea house and tried Rooibos for the first time, though I only drank it on occasion. I didn’t get serious about it until David’s tea came to town. I was on a diet and wanted something I could drink without sugar that had a lot of flavours to choose from.

I prefer black teas, but oolong and green come in a close second. White and guayusa are in the middle, while mate, rooibos and herbals are at the bottom of my list.

Likes: banana, jasmine, pumpkin, lychee, blueberry, chocolate
Dislikes: orange, ginger, rose, hibiscus, butterscotch, honeybush

My non-tea related interests are music, camping, poker, softball, snowboarding, biology and animals. I have 2 dogs and they are my whole life.
