Our second tea party tea today was this blend of two Harney and Sons teas that we have come to love. Two teaspoons of Palm Court, one of Rose Scented, in a 22 oz. teapot. Delicious and sweet!

This was the first tea served at tea party today, and was it ever well-received! I was unsure how my guest would like it, because she hasn’t cared for smokey teas in the past. She loved it! My youngest daughter is a big fan of this one, so this is another Upton tea that Doulton sent to us that will have to be kept in the cupboard. Smooth, light, golden, nice body, and lightly smokey, this goes wonderfully with afternoon snacks.

I guess I have owned this tea for about two years. It is one of the first loose leaf teas I bought, undoubtably at TJMaxx before I found out about Harney and Sons and Southern Season with their vast selection. Since discovering some really good teas, I have let several others just sit on the shelf. I really didn’t have a “mood” as to what to drink today, so I decided to revisit this one.

If you are not looking for nuance and you plan to add milk and sugar, there is nothing wrong with this tea. It isn’t as good as Thomas Sampson or Grace Rare Tea Pure Assam by any means, but it makes a hot cup of tea to warm you. I will not be repurchasing this, but I have changed my mind about just sticking it up on Freecycle with my other neglected teas. And youngest will enjoy it as she likes Irish Brekkie with lots of milk and sugar.

Because of the leaf size, I only gave it three minutes, and that was plenty. Boiling water.

Drinking the resteep now. This is still really good, and I normally can’t tolerate a resteep of black tea as it is usually too weak for me. This tea just got even more economical.

This is fabulolus tea. The dry leaves smell fabulous, the wet leaves smell fabulous, the tea smells fabulous. Ah, yes! This is really good. Which is exactly what youngest said when she took a sip of hers. If you want some premium black tea and would love to pay a more than reasonable price for it, order this. Right away! Ahhhh. I will be putting this on my order along with the blooming tea selection, the best blooming teas I have tasted yet.

My puer loving friend was finally able to come over this evening to try this with me. This puer has an earthy aroma, not the fishy smell some puers have. I gave it almost two minutes on the first steep. It was not terribly strong, so if you like it strong right off the bat, you may want to wash it, then steep. give it the full two minutes at least.

I thought it was great! The second steep was even darker and still had great flavor, not diminished at all. This was a lovely puer. I will most likely give it one more steep. Thank you, Angel!

This sample was sent to me by ThePurrfectCup. Many thanks!

I made this a little on the weak side, mostly because I was being greedy and wanted a bigger pot than the sample was supposed to make. That didn’t matter, though, this is lovely just as it is! The green tea base is mild and smooth, and leans toward the grassy rather than the buttery side. The jasmine is just right for me. The first jasmine I ever had was horrific so I thought I didn’t like jasmine. Thank goodness I tried other kind because now I find them soothing and oh so good. This is a very good one. Quite nice! Thank you!

This is in my cupboard thanks to DOULTON. :)

I wanted something with a little body and heft today since we are having our first chilly weather. Youngest is joining me at tea table so I chose a Lapsang, since she really enjoys them, which blows my mind. Kids like Lapsangs?

This is good and I am enjoying it. It was a little thin for me so I added milk and a wee sprinkle of sugar. Now it is quite good. The tea base is better, in my opinion, in Baker Street Blend by Upton, or perhaps it is just more flavorful, but it has a chewy, pipe tobacco quality that is quite engaging. When I repurchase my Lapsang, it will almost certainly be Baker Street. ( Which was also thanks to DOULTON!)

I miss Doulton… I wish she would visit Steepster more often!

Second steep – I left the leaves loose in the pot so they could swirl and breathe. The first pot of tea had a floral aroma and as it cooled there was a walnut flavor. There was also something elusive in the sip that I first thought was a citrus note, then decided might be a hint of pineapple.

The second steep is a deep yellow straw color. It is still full of flavor and a grassier, walnut flavor is more prominent than the floral aspect to me now. Very good!

I was very surprised that this one wasn’t already listed! This was another tea sent by the generous PurrfectCup! Thank you!

This is a very smooth and mild tea with honey notes. It is more similar to Harney and Sons Golden Monkey than to Teavana’s, but there is a family resemblance between the two teas. I find this one to be milder. It is lovely as an afternoon tea, either by itself or with biscuits. I don’t see this as a breakfast tea, though. I wold carry the cup back to bed with me! LOL! Fortunately, we were having it in the afternoon! I plan to try a resteep.

I am a music teacher, tutor, and former homeschool mom (25 years!) who started drinking loose leaf tea about fourteen years ago! My daughters and I have tea every day, and we are frequently joined by my students or friends for “tea time.” Now my hubby joins us, too. His tastes have evolved from Tetley with milk and sugar to mostly unadorned greens and oolongs.

We have learned so much history, geography, and culture in this journey.
