This is the tea for Day 4 in the DavidsTea advent calendar.

Smells very, very berry when you sniff the dry leaves. Steeped it is hibiscus and berry with a faint touch of mint. It smells so much like a children’s soft drink that I was tempted to add tons of sugar and slurp it down like candy. It just tastes like something that SHOULD be super sweet, but I generally don’t add sugar to any tea.

After sipping awhile, I got used to it as is. Hibiscus is definitely up front even though it is listed way down the line in the ingredients, but hibiscus tends to do that. I am not a hibiscus hater, but neither do I seek it out. I just don’t MIND it, and it is supposed to be very good for you.

If you like herbals, you might like this. If you hate the hibby, keep moving.

I am a music teacher, tutor, and former homeschool mom (25 years!) who started drinking loose leaf tea about seven years ago! My daughters and I have tea every day, and we are frequently joined by my students or friends for “tea time.” Now my hubby joins us, too. His tastes have evolved from Tetley with milk and sugar to mostly unadorned greens and oolongs.

We have learned so much history, geography, and culture in this journey.

My avatar is a mole in a teacup! Long story…
