drank Melon Drop by DAVIDsTEA

This was my second go to today as I battled the day of interview hell (8 in total and a lot of miles put on my poor vibe). I made this as a delicious ice tea and packed it away in bag to travel with for the afternoon. It was a welcomed melon friend as I traveled to my last five interviews, after this I had to settle for the plain water I also brought along.

Today was a long and stressful day with many hours spent in the car, school hoping from one interview to the next. I had a grand total of 8 interviews today and I am tired. Needless to say, I needed something that would start my day off with a punch and this was my go to. I enjoyed sipping it as I drove to my first meeting this morning, while I drove to my next interview, and after ward on my way to my third.

I just love how this tea makes me feel and the orange flavour is delightful!

Wow, when you said you had eight in another note, I thought you meant that you were the interviewer. How did you manage to squeeze in eight interviews in one day?! Wow, I don’t think I’ve been able to do more than two in one day due to bussing complications. I can’t imagine how exhausted you are now.

Cat-Nap

The first interview was for two positions at two different schools, the principals had paired up to interview together, then the next two were single interviews, the next one again two principals paired for a double interview, and then the next two were individuals. It started at 9am and went until 5pm. It was a lot of driving and hoping I would not end up being late for an interview.

I can’t imagine how hectic and stressful that must have been. Definitely keep us posted on the follow-ups and fingers crossed you get something! Now you need to treat yourself.

I accepted a full year contract teaching 3/4. I was busy this week preparing my classroom which meant very little tea was drank. But I was able to squirrel away a section in my cupboard for teas to enjoy while working. Interview season is a crazy time of year and I cannot wait for the day when I get a permanent contract and never have to partake in interviews again.

Congratulations! My mom was teaching a split grades 3/4 class before she retired.

After trying this tea hot and not finding it very strawberry, flavoured I wasn’t overly sure how I felt about it. I read others reviews on how they loved the flavour but had it iced instead and wondered if this would be the best route for this tea.

I set up my ice tea press and prepared to jump in the car with it as I traveled over the weekend to visit family. I am not sold on this tea. I did not pick up the strawberry even in the ice tea form, but I did pick up a lot of rosemary. My oldest is happy I am not enjoying this because as she claims “more for me.”

Sipped on this again today after making a large iced pitcher. I have to hide it from oldest though because she enjoys it far to much.

Used the last of this to do a cold brew over night. It has a smooth and yet sour taste which is fantastic. Not really picking up much strawberry other than the colour. It is still really good and I rather enjoy the flavour of the cold brew.

I love every sip of this tea! This time it came across very pear flavoured right from the dried leaf to the final sip. I could not be happier!

I also purchased this today while out mug shopping. I had not expected to buy any tea leaf while I was there, but I couldn’t pass this up after smelling the sniffer in store. While I will admit, the aroma wasn’t what sold me on the tea, it was the idea of a warm pear drink.

Dried the scent comes across as artificial with hints of candied papaya. Brewed the liquid is a clear yellow with a sweet cider aroma. I am now half way through the tea and have picked up on several flavours that enjoy dancing across my taste buds; it first started off as sweet papaya mixed with tropical fruits, later I started to picking up the pear and hints of peach.

Visited my local DavidsTea in search of the new mugs, I need to have the blue egg shell sheep mug. I toyed with the idea of getting the colour changing sheep mug instead but stuck with my original plan. While I was there, I also bought 50g of the Wild Strawberry tea at the request of my oldest.

Dried, I found the scent of the leaf to be very similar to the Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait with a very creamy strawberry candy scent. Brewed the liquid becomes a clear rose colour with a sweet creamy aroma. Taste wise, I picked up more of a sweet apple and hibiscus flavouring.

I was hopping for more of a strawberry taste. My oldest absolutely loved her cup of tea. Before I give over the remaining bag of tea to her, I want to try it iced.

I totally agree, it wasn’t nearly as strawberry as I would have liked.

Cat-Nap

My oldest loves it, which is great, so if I don’t like it iced I won’t worry that the leaf will go to waste. Hoping iced or a cold brew brings out more of the flavour.

Roswell Strange

Huh, interesting – I actually thought the strawberry was really potent. I did try it iced, rather than hot though: maybe that makes a difference?

The blue sheep mug is cute! I actually got the grey colour change one, to the chagrin of my boyfriend. The deciding factor for me what the fact that the GORGEOUS pear print/pattern is featured on the colour change one. I need that pattern in my life…

Cat-Nap

Roswell, my oldest loved it said she could drink it all day (she is also more of a coffee drinker that I am trying to convert lol). It could be she got more strawberry in her scoop. I have also been told by others who tried it that they found it very strawberry flavoured and that it was iced.

Profile

Bio

I am happily married to my husband who definitely is the chatterbox of our 20 year relationship. Together we have three rambunctious children 2 daughters and a son who is stuck in the middle of the girls. We also have a 17 year old fur baby (cat) who likes to the rule house and tell us at midnight it is time to pay attention to him rather than sleep.

I am an elementary school teacher, teaching grade 3/4 with a mixed bag of learning abilities and educational needs. I love my job and share my passion for learning with my students.

I have been a tea drinker since I was allowed to take my first sip, which was very early in life and was mostly the Rose Hip and Earl Grey my grandma would brew by the pot full and serve when company came over. Later in my teen life (once I had more choice of my own) I fell in love with peppermint and green teas. I love hot brews and iced teas. Now I will try just about any kind of tea as long as it doesn’t contain nuts or gluten (damn allergies ruin everything).

I prefer my tea to be natural, meaning without any added sweeteners or cream/milk. I want to be able to experience the tea as it was intended.

My Rating Scale:
0-20: OMG what did I just put into my mouth! I cannot keep this it must be trashed or rehomed.
20-40: Horrible, not something I will drink again, but someone else may still like it
40-60: Ok, nothing overly special, it is kept around because others like it
60-80: Good, either I or someone else in the house liked it
80-95: Great! Will drink this occasionally and will keep it around
95-100: Absolutely amazing, and must keep it in stock at all times!

I invite you to join me as I go through my stash and share my thoughts and opinions on the teas as I and my family drink them (or eat them as my 3 year old says when I use matcha in icing)
