I took my mother-in-law there for a traditional afternoon tea when we were visiting in June. I’ve had tea at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago and other similarly luxurious places, but I really liked this much better. What it lacks in elegance it more than makes up for elsewhere. The ladies running the place were absolutely charming, and the food was amazing. We went overboard and got the Windsor High Tea, which was way more food than we could eat, but I’m glad we did. The tomato cheese quiche that came as part of that was by far the best quiche I’ve ever had. And we had lots of leftover cakes and finger sandwiches to take home with us. The tea selection was much better than I’ve seen at more elegant places, too. Hours for the tea room are 11:00 to 4:30.
