176 Tasting Notes
I haven’t been logging much lately, but I’ve been drinking this one a lot. I think Irish Breakfast might be my favorite tea… Maybe. It’s either above, below, or next to Assam. I can’t decide. :)
Currently enjoying this with toast and jam by Christmas tree light before class.
Recently got a sampler pack from Samovar through a Twitter contest-thing. So, adding that to the two samplers sets I ended up with from Adagio… it looks like I better get around to trying (and liking) mate.
Having only tried a toasted mate before, this is my first ‘real’ experience with yerba mate. It has an interesting herbal, almost minty sort of taste to it. But it has something else to it that I can’t quite put my finger on. (I think in the toasted, I referred to it as tobacco-y. This is not the same… something.)
Definitely an unofficial rating at this point.
Had to break into the “good” stash this morning. I’m almost done with all of my B-list black teas, but I still want to clear the cupboard out a little more before I let myself have all my favorites on heavy rotation again. So… why do I get this one this morning? Because I don’t feel 100%, and I do what I want.
Under perfect brewing conditions, which I admit I rarely strive for first thing in the morning, this tea is amazingly sweet. Other times, it’s still very good. Today… it’s amazing. :)
