176 Tasting Notes
This is my first lavender Grey, after searching for one for awhile. The lavender smell really comes out when it’s steeped, and the taste is strong, but not overpowering. It’s definitely a nice change from the variety of Earl Greys in my cupboard. Yummy.
Preparation
Nice and strong. I’m tasting the Nilgiri pretty front-and-center, and the Assam is a little lost in the mix.
It’s got a bit of a bite to it that I don’t care for, but I will admit to a certain amount of user error; I had a pan of custard on the stove and was chatting with a friend on Facebook as I was brewing this… I like to think I am a better multi-tasker than I really am. So, I’m withholding full judgement until I can give it my full attention.
I wish I’d save a bit of my Assam Melody sample, to compare these side-by-side. It’s getting time to choose an Assam for heavy-rotation, and I’m getting dangerously close to spending way too much money on this one. I don’t remember it being terribly different, but I’m digging on this one so much that it’s hard to choose something else…
