For a black tea blend this is very tasty. Black tea is not my tea of choice mostly due to the caffeine content but this is worth the indulgence. In line with the name, the predominate flavor is a nice roasted almond flavor with the chocolate and coconut in the background. I did find lowering the steep time for a typical black tea did allow for a greater balance of flavors even when enjoyed straight. Overall, this makes a nice dessert tea without being overly artificial or sweet.
Preparation
I steeped this without reading the description and tried to figure ut what it tasted like that way. What I decided? Grape. Lots of grape.
Turns out it has black currant in it. :P Oh well – from the comments I’m not the only one who thought so. For a tea named after The Earl, I’m not detecting any bergamot, which is actually a blessing as I’m sorta picky about how much of that I can stand.
There’s a bit of tartness and more sweetness but it’s very pleasant. I haven’t had many white teas but I could see getting more of this in the future!
Preparation
Another sip down! I woke up this morning very excited for tea, any tea, and this was the first one that I came across. Our indoor cat got outside late on Monday night, so we spent all day yesterday in the cold rain searching for her and putting fliers on every door/business in our area. Luckily our Greyhound found her last night just up the road from our house. Yesterday was a day with no tea and it was a sad day indeed. So this morning we decided to celebrate the return of our prodigal cat with some Lime Jello Salad.
The dry tea smells really sweet, just like a packet of dry jello mix. I didn’t see any dried pineapples in my pack, but there was a lot of white, fluffy marshmallow root. The flavor is exactly like lime jello, and adding a little sweetener brings out a small hint of the marshmallow. To me, the lime flavor is a little artificial, but lime jello tastes artificial also, so it really does live up to its name. My mom would always make me jello when I was sick as a child and she would let me drink a little of the warm jello before putting it in the fridge to set. This tea reminds me of that warm jello flavor!
-Dry blend has green tea leaves and fluffy marshmallow root.
-Dry leaves smell sugary sweet of lime jello. Tea liquor aroma is strongly of lemon-lime.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium green color.
-Citrusy lime flavor with a marshmallow lime jello finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Good tea. Flavor is exactly like lime jello.

I"m so glad you found your cat!!! That’s a nightmare of mine (although I currently don’t own any pets…)
Thanks, Kittenna! It was a nightmare, we were just heartbroken. She is happily at home now, laying in the sun looking out the window. I think she prefers it on this side of the window!
My sisters house cat used to try to escape all the time. We would always find him just sitting on the front step. Not sure if he was too scared to venture any further out.
Oh! Thank you. Now I’m going to start using it and everyone will please just act normal as though I’ve known along :)
Really just logging this to share this link with you all about tea meditation:

ok so the first bag of this I had I wasn’t very fond of, but since it has such great reviews I thought I would give it another try. Point blank, I can’t imagine living without it. Maybe this bag is just better or maybe my taste is more refined (doubt that) but this is legitimately one of the most delicious teas ever. I am finally getting the mapley deliciousness and the true golden brown pancake flavor! This and Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake are WONDERS!!
The reason I’m logging a review on this again is because my NON tea drinking boyfriend (a loyal consumer of NAS energy drinks and black coffee) asked for a sip of my tea last night to make some Advil while he was studying. Not a minute later he said “Can I have a full cup of that?” Ummmm WHAT?! He has taken a few sips of teas he has liked, or at least not hated (he likes Walter Bishop Tea too) but he has NEVER had a cup of tea. Well, he had a small cup of Walter tea when I had a pot of it, but he wanted a full mug of Pancake Breakfast tea. Miracles. Now I need to order more because I have discovered a new love of it and my boyfriend (Rick) actually enjoyed a full mug.
backlog from yesterday after work. I tried to pay close attention to the smell and taste of this tea so I could write it up today. When I smell it, I don’t get that same pancake maple smell that everyone else seems to get. It smells like raw pizza dough to me, no vanilla or tasty sweetness that comes with pancakes.
I also don’t taste the maple syrup. Brewed, the tea smells bland to me. I don’t hate this tea, I like it…but not as pancakes. As a simple black tea. It looks like I probably just got some from a less flavorful batch, because these reviews are amazing. I’m not going to put a number rating for this one, but I don’t get the syrupy pancake taste that I so wanted.
Getting late in the evening so time to see if this stuff works!
It, of course, smells like lemon and chamomile. Nothing hiding there.
It’s relaxing for sure. Nothing sharp or lasting in it. Smooth to drink. The lemon is the most distinct but it’s not “overdone”. A very tasty treat. I plan to have this tea on many a late night!
Preparation
Adjusted this up from high 90s to 100 because it just got better the longer I sipped it. Love this tea and it will be part of my permanent stash going forward.
It is a wonderful thing to find these teas in our lives…the ones we know we will love for many a cup or pot to come!
Thanks to Raritea for sharing some of this with me (via Ellyn!)
I couldn’t detect any aroma whatsoever from the dry tea, so really had quite low expectations for this blend, but I am getting flavour, and it’s actually not bad! I don’t distinctly taste cucumber (which is completely ok, because the one time I purchased cucumber water it made me gag! Not that I don’t like cucumbers though) and I’m not tasting as much kiwi as I would like, but it’s quite a refreshing blend. I’m actually kind of tempted to purchase it for myself if there’s another 52teas sale in the future, while it’s still available. I can definitely also taste the distinctive flavour of honeybush, which I do actually kind of enjoy, sometimes.
Thanks again you guys – this was a blend I’d been wavering about purchasing for a while, I just wish I’d gotten around to trying it sooner!
Preparation
Hm, thought I logged this one already. Guess not! I love genmaicha, I love chai, and I love the one genmaicha chai mix I’ve tried (Yogic’s with lemongrass) so I was pretty sure from the moment this was announced that it would be a winner for me.
Simmering on the stovetop, this makes my whole kitchen smell amazing. It’s a particularly fragrant chai blend, with tons of chunky spices in the mix. With the toasty aspect of the genmaicha, it smells like I am making chai-flavored rice krispie bars! Which of course now I am dying to do.
The spices in this are a bit unique. I mean, yeah, they’re standard enough but the ratios make this blend stand apart. It’s pretty heavy on the cardamom, ginger and clove while the cinnamon is only a hint in the background. I don’t like very cinnamon-y chais and I adore cardamom so this is right up my alley!
With the genmaicha base I decided to go sugarless, even though I almost always add honey/agave/etc to chais made on the stovetop. Genmaicha + sugar is just not a thing that works in my head, so this ended up being almost savory! Well, I guess as savory as a chai can be. It seems much lighter than other chais because of the green base, this is definitely a winner!
If this was one of his few permanent blends, I would be all over it…it is one of the very few 52 teas blends that sounded up my ally…even before you revealed it is heavy on the cardamom!
Sipdown. I really enjoyed this tea – although maybe not quite as much as the strawberry zabaglione. That’s likely more down to personal preference though, as I love strawberries but am generally fairly ambivalent towards blueberries.
Preparation
I absolutely loved Frank’s Strawberry Zabaglione so when this was offered up as a reblend awhile back I pounced on it as fast as I could.
The smell of the tea reminds me of blueberry shortcake – very sweet, fruity and dessert-ish. The flavour is distinctly blueberry but there’s something more to it as well – there are sweet, almost creamy notes that make me think of vanilla. Like the strawberry version I bet this tea is great with milk, but I wanted to try it plain first to get a proper sense of the flavours.
Preparation
This is the rest of my trade from Novi, who sent me basically a full package of this, which I wasn’t expecting. Hopefully I’ll like it better than the peach debacle of earlier this morning. It certainly smells nice. I haven’t had cotton candy in ages, but it vaguely brings about reminiscent memories of baseball games and parking lot fairs when I was younger and also the circus when I was much younger.
Interestingly enough, I don’t actually like this. It was a bit of okay when it was hot, I could get the aftertaste of a bit of cotton candy, although the ‘front’ of the sip tasted just like tea. When I let it cool down, a strange bitterness came out and smothered the sweetness, even though I had put extra sweetener in this besides, and made the whole pot just very unpleasant to drink.
Preparation
Sipdown! Another one from the 12 Days of Tea pack that I am just now trying. White teas aren’t really my favorite, so while this one looked nice, I wasn’t super excited to try it. The dry leaves were really big and pretty, but I didn’t see any dried black currants in my pack. The tea liquor is a really clear pale yellow color, it almost looks like water. The flavor is really fruity and perfumey. I can’t taste the bergamot, and the black currant seems different that other black currant flavors that I’ve had, and it ends on a slightly artificial note. Not terrible by any means, but probably one that I wouldn’t purchase again.
-Dry blend has large tea leaves and twigs.
-Dry leaves smell lightly of fruit. Tea liquor aroma smells of overly sweet black currants.
-Tea liquor is clear and almost colorless.
-Soft fruit perfumey flavor with an artificial sweet finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Fair tea. Light and fruity.
Preparation
Very pleasant but the chocolate and mint flavors are middling, meaning there are days when I want a strong menthol mint tea and days when I want a thick, unctuous chocolate mouth feel; then, the tea falls halfway to satisfying me. But, to have the benefit of natural, organic flavors, these tea experiences have to be reasonable in expectations. I need to not have unreasonable actual food flavor outcomes, and therefore I give this a reasonable rating because it does remind me of a minty hot chocolate.
Preparation
I REALLY wanted to like this more then I did.
I think after the awesomeness that was Walter Bishop yesterday, I had my sights set too high. This blend was “good” but not great. The strawberry is much more muted. I detect another note of what I assume is the rhubarb….I don’t particularly like that in the tea. Though to be honest, I’m not a rhubarb fan in general. I’m having no problem drinking it, I just feel somewhat cheated after having a REAL strawberry honeybush yesterday.
