This is a beautiful tea. You can’t smell the marshmallow, and at first you barely taste it… The mint is the strong flavor here, a creamy flavor, like the melt-away mint candy. Then, there’s a lovely marshmallow secondary note that is just incredible. I’ll be sad to run out of this tea!
I’m not sure how to feel about this tea… The smell is heavenly, like sweet maple cake. The taste is another story. The black tea is too strong for the delicate flavors, and the sweet flavor isn’t helped at all by the bitter notes. I wanted to love this, and I’m just not sure I can.
man..have i been drinking tea today! Didn’t get a chance to log a bunch of my teas so a few incoming at the moment to catch up. This is part of my 52 sipdown challenge i’ve given myself and one more cup and i should be able to wrap this one up. Not a re-order but it’s been decent enough to drink down.
I have to stay up to test things for work. I’m sleepy…so i’m drinking honeybush blends just in case i get to go to bed earlier than i thought. though they’re behind schedule. bah! Not a huge fan of this one but it’ll do in a pinch and i need to get through these 52 teas! haha
first tea of the morning – cold brewed this yesterday to try as a cold tea first since most of the reviews have said the flavours really come out as it cools.
I’m not sure how i feel about this one over all. It smells like that banana medicine you used to get as a kid. The first sips of this are…intresting. there’s a lot going on that i can’t place. it’s a fruity, banana-y mess of flavours. i’ll have to try this hot to see if i like it better that way. cold is just kind of…weird?
Wow, just one tasting note? Really? Hmm. Anyways, my foray into plain tulsi begins now, thanks to massive anxiety and LiberTEAS (who provided the sample, she is not responsible for the anxiety, haha, we can blame my Masters project for that…)
Sooooo. Brewed, it smells… oddly familiar. I wonder if this is because it was in a blend I had from Verdant… although my initial thought was that it reminded me of guayusa or perhaps green mate. Kind of vegetal-y, but not in a pleasant green tea sort of way. More like… green leaves. Mixed with some mint, and some spicy. Yes, generic… “spicy”. Hrm. Hrrrrrrrrrmmmmm.
Oh, interesting – there’s a clovey note in here… in addition to the slight mint, and odd vegetal. Yes, definitely clove. Wondering if this picked up additional flavour from something else in my big box of teas…. though I have to say that it’s really not a bad addition here, if it is an addition.
So, more sipping and it’s really making me think of Good Morning Sunshine (Butiki), which leads me to think that tulsi is similar to guayusa. Of course, there’s no clovey flavour in there. But… you know. It still tastes similar.
I suppose I could add this up farther, but I’m thinking it now… I thought tulsi would taste more like regular basil. Clearly not.
Anyways, an interesting cup of tea. Probably not something I’d pick out often, but not too bad either. Here’s hoping it will calm me down at least a little…
Preparation
This is my favourite 52 Tea. I have a weakness for it and have been hoarding my little pouch FOREVER.
final damage after today is only 181 since both kittenna and Raritea took home some teas and will just pass the leftovers to me once they’re done (i’m doing the same with some of mine) so still under 200! at least until the BB Box gets here, swedish chef’s package gets here…and uh the canadian travelling tea box gets here..
Quick note while we game this afternoon.
This re-blend is tasty! It seems more buttery than I remember, but still good.
It’s here! And I’ve already set some aside for ozli as I’m sure she’ll want some too.
It does taste root beer-ish, and there are some odd flavours lurking underneath. I guess that’s the licorice etc. But it works! And there’s something sweet – vanilla, maybe?
Yep, while I wouldn’t want this all the time, I’d sneak out of Hogwarts for this. :)

Preparation
I used 1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml of water.
The dry leaf smell reminds me of lemon meringue pie. The brewed tea has a lemon mixed with smoky aroma which I’m guessing comes from the lemon and green tea. There is a sweetness to the aroma which, I think, is coming from the marshmallow root.
On the sip I’m getting a bitter-celery-metallic flavour at the front which turns into a more lemony flavour.
As the tea cools, I’m getting a more smoky-lemon flavour and the bitterness is faded. I’m also detecting an enjoyable green tea aftertaste in the aftertaste of the tea.
Rating: 57
I will try to keep my infusion time closer to 2 minutes in the future.
