Backlog:

This is a ready to drink beverage from Argo tea. It’s sweet, but I like that I can taste the white tea here. Given that this is a “lemonade/tea” blend, and that it’s been sweetened, it’s kind of a surprise to me that I was able to taste the white tea … but, I did! It’s not a particularly prominent flavor, it has a delicate taste, slightly earthy … but then again, most white tea is delicate.

My one complaint is that I wish there was less of the lemonade and acai berry here and more of the white tea flavor … but as it is, I enjoyed it. It wasn’t overly syrupy, it wasn’t cloying … it was refreshing. Nice.

This tea is ok but not as good as I was expecting it to be. I don’t really taste any chocolate in it but the mint sure is in there. Also, I dislike that the tea produces a layer of oil like substance at the top, not very appealing.

drank Carolina Honey by Argo Tea
358 tasting notes

I got the sweetest surprise on Christmas Eve – this tea was waiting for me at my door from a wonderful tea friend! I like honey and lemon, so this was right up my alley, and living in Carolina, of course I love the name! I had a cup of this yesterday afternoon, and it was exactly as expected. It has a fresh, tart lemon flavor with a hint of honey sweetness. Add a little milk and sugar and it becomes a creamy, lemony dessert cup. The tea comes in a beautiful recycled glass bottle, which looks so pretty sitting in my tea cupboard. I’m glad I have this tea to keep me warm during the winter months ahead, and every time I see it, I will be reminded of my far away tea friend. :)

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs with yellow and orange petals.
-Dry leaves smell like fresh lemon with a hint of sweetness. Tea liquor aroma is malty with a sweet honey aroma and a small taste of tart lemon.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium brown yellow color.
-Tart lemon flavor with a rich malty finish. Strong honey lemon aftertaste that lingers.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. A unique cup that becomes a sweet creamy decadent lemon flavor with milk and sweetener. Wonderful honey and lemon aftertaste.

This tastes very similar to the Zingiber Ginger Coconut tea I’ve had from Teavana, which sits at the top of my list of all-time favorite steeps. I’m sure it’s because of the rooibos and vanilla notes, which are especially noticeable while taking in this tea’s scent just before tilting in for a sip.

Yum.

I got an ounce of this as part of the green tea sampler from Argo’s pre-Black Friday promotion. I used most of it to make tea for my family yesterday. They liked it well enough. But then they’ll drink just about anything minty I put in front of them, so I take their opinion with a grain of salt.

As for myself, I find it pretty mediocre. The mint is quite lovely and refreshing, but the base tea is meh. It just completely fades into the background in the first steep. The second steep is substantially better in that at least some dryness and woodsy notes come out to convince me that there even is any tea in here. The mint is very nice, but the base just cannot hold its own. Drinkable, but nothing I’m interested in seeking out again. Except maybe as a breath freshener – the mint really lingers!

Oh and the 1-oz bag isn’t resealable, which I find quite irritating.

drank Earl Grey Creme by Argo Tea

I bought the box of sachets to keep at work during their recent scratch to win promotion. I unfortunately dropped my work steeping mug a few weeks ago and have been living off of bagged tea at work every since (sad face). Anyway, this was surprisingly yummy since I’m not the biggest fan of earl grey.

Once a bit of sweetener was added, it was basically like drinking a lightly flavored creamsicle, with just enough tea flavor to convince yourself it was actually a mug of tea with bergamot and cream flavor and not some sort of juice. I share an office with a fellow tea lover who absolutely loved this stuff and wanted to buy a ton for home use.

I’m thinking of buying the loose version for home since it is really yummy. I don’t even know what temperature the water is at work, but I got two steeps out of my tea bag.

Normally, I am a huge fan of mint in gum, chocolate, etc., but I have had a few mint teas and not enjoyed them so much. I think it might be because things like mint chocolate are so sweet and in mint teas, without the sweetness, the mint is just too strongly herbal for me. Anyway, the dry leaf smelled almost like spearmint to me. The tea is very minty and refreshing, but like I said, just not up my alley. I won’t rate the tea because it’s not the tea’s fault that I have a weird relationship with mint.

Too sweet, and I don’t think the lemonade goes very well with the tea…should be more subtle.

This has great flavor without being too sweet or bitter. It definitely wakes me up and holds up to long brewing well.

drank Oolong Coconut by Argo Tea

So, been missing in action for a long while. Life changes and among the first time I’m able to get back to tea after buying the new house/farm/zoo. :D

The coconut oolong tea showed up at Argo Tea while i was away from my constant acquisitions and consumption of tea. However, as one of the first that I’ve tried in my return it’s certainly made me happy. It’s got a decent taste and the coconut is noticeable but not overpowering. I’d probably describe it as a poor man’s milk oolong.

drank Charitea (Bottled) by Argo Tea

I went on a tour of a really big Whole Foods today with Yelp and saw that not only were bottled Argo Teas on sale, but they had this one, which I had never tried before! So of course I got a bottle and I regret not getting two!

The name is a cute play on what it contains too…charitea is a cherry tea! It has cherry, hibiscus, and vanilla. It’s sweetened so it’s not too tart, but you can definitely taste each of these things. I really like the way vanilla and hibiscus taste.

I only drank half the bottle tonight because it’s pretty sugary and I wanted to try a coffee I bought. I enjoyed the coffee more I am so sorry tea.

But really this is one of the better bottled Argo options. I hadn’t ever seen this one in a store before.

I’m going to hold off on rating this for now. It seems a bit less flavorful than some teas, but it could be that I should just use more tea and less water. The green comes out as a bit of a grassy one, and the flavors are there more in scent than flavor.

drank Tea Sparkle by Argo Tea

I had this and it was really more like a soft drink. I had a black tea with peach flavor. This drink includes carbonated water, and I’m certain a fair amount of sweetener, so it was not quite what I am used to drinking. Still, a fun and refreshing drink—especially if a rare treat.

drank Holiday Dream by Argo Tea

I completely forgot about the teas I got at Argo after Christmas. Oops. Nothing really screams “this is for winter only!” about any of them so since I was in the mood for a green, I chose this over the herbal one I’ve yet to try.

And I see why. This is not for me. For some reason I really really cannot do almond flavor in anything but black tea. Something just doesn’t taste right to me in white/green teas. I’m getting it in this and I really don’t like it with the orange and cinnamon. Without that almond taste, this reminds me of a cookie.

If anyone wants this, let me know, because I don’t think I’ll even be able to finish this cup. And if you can do almond flavoring, this has to be a really excellent cup of tea. Boo, taste buds.

Afternoon tea wit chicken pilau. Yum! This tea is so colorful. It reminds me of White Chai by 52Teas. There are bits of red and white and green in the mix. Flavorful.
