Alright, my new tea mission is using up my tea so I can easily justify buying more. To do this, I have to use up the many tea bags I have.
This tea is pretty good. I think that my taste for tea has developed recently and now this doesn’t taste strong enough – I suspect this is due to the quality I have been expecting after drinking so many loose leaf teas. The smell of the bergamot is still amazing though. I will be very interested in finding an Earl Grey loose leaf that is strong on the bergamot when I go shopping. I have dropped my rating just a bit – this isn’t what I was hoping for.
Preparation
Made this tea again tonight hoping for the experience I had with it yesterday. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it as much, I think I let it steep too long. I didn’t exactly time it, just let it sit until it looked “right.” I have lowered my rating on this tea. Maybe it will fare better next time around.
The initial smell of this tea is quite nice (before steeping). It makes me wonder if I could find a bergamot scented candle… The strength of the flavor was milder than expected based on the strength of the initial scent, but that isn’t a bad thing. I like the fact that this tea only needs to steep for about 2 minutes, most of the teas I drink have wait times of 5-7 minutes. This is one of the few black teas that I did not need to add milk or sweetener. After drinking, my mouth felt slightly tingly, which was interesting. I will definitely have this tea again, in fact, I think I will have another cup now.
Preparation
This tea is a disappointment. It smells like it should be very minty. I’ve tried brewing this several ways. Decreased heat, increased heat, decreased time, increased time – nothing works. It’s taste is oily, and muddy. There is a minty flavor to it, but its not the good taste of fresh mint leaves. It’s more like the old colgate that’s dried out on your toothbrush.
If you want an easy bagged “mint and tea” tea, just get a bag of a real mint infusion (you know, the box will say mint herbal tea – but won’t have any tea in it) and brew it with a bag of your favorite bagged black in a double sized mug.
Preparation
I love this tea in the evening. I always seem to reach for this one when my wife wants hot chocolate. I really don’t think it taste anything like egg nog, but that is not a negative (unless you want egg nog). I enjoy the mixture of black and green tea. It seems to make it a lighter tea that does not have a heavy finish. I think this one will replace my usual nutcracker tea by celestial seasonings until I find a loose tea to be my staple.

Preparation
Another one of the free work teas. I really like this one, almost better than the English breakfast. For anyone who knows how addicted to caffeine I am, that’s surprising. But this is more smooth, more mellow. I think I may enjoy this more than the harsher breakfast in the afternoons to combat the “food coma” from lunch.
The liquor is a dark gold, very lovely. The smell is actually not that strong, which I rather like. You get a burst of the black tea taste at the front of the sip, then a nice easy smoothness comes that I can only describe as “leafy”. Reminds me of a warm forest in early fall. Not too astringent, either. I like this one.
Preparation
Finally. The free tea provided by my workplace is bagged, but they’ve just switched to Bigelow. This may not be a particularly great tea, but it suits my “I’m not awake yet” pre-meeting needs. It’s not too harsh, benefits well from sugar and those little half-and-half cups, and has enough caffeine to wake me up. Plus, I don’t need three teabags to get it strong enough like I did with the Stash or Tazo black teas. We do have filters on our water lines, so that makes a big difference too. It’s drinkable for what I need.
Preparation
Nice that they have something other than coffee! My husband complains about the free coffee at work. He doesn’t drink coffee and he thinks it is some kind of discrimination.
LOL it could be! Yes, we’re lucky. free coffee, teas, and swiss miss cocoa. Although they’ve just had a new coffee machine installed, and the smell was awful this morning.
