Iced!

The more I drink this flavour the more frustrated I get with Blume’s comparison of it to a Pink Lemonade. I guess visually the two drinks are both pink, but it just doesn’t taste like a lemonade one bit. It’s very clearly a sweet, tart strawberry note. More like a Kool-Aid mix than anything else. And it stands on its own two legs flavour wise – no need to compare to something it isn’t in order to make it appealing. Especially when Blume does have a lemon tea in their SuperBelly line…

Whisked up and enjoyed on the flight home from Vegas back to Montreal! It felt kind of weird but nice having the symmetry of drinking on of these while flying to Vegas and one while flying back. Also, I just wanna say that since I’ve started regularly incorporating these into my weekly routine I have actually noticed some positive benefits – particularly with the late afternoon acid reflux that I used to get! So, that’s pretty cool!

This was the other thing I drank on that first flight in to Vegas. It was actually incredibly convenient – I just filled up a travel mug with water once I’d cleared security and then shook up one of the single serves. Fantastic option for making sure I was hydrated on the flight in. Honestly, I love travelling with stick packs and tea bags. Especially of cold brews, but these bad boys were especially perfect. Will absolutely be holding onto a few for whenever I travel next.

Iced!

After a few days of experimentation I decided to just make a regular travel mug of this flavour – though I did do what I’ve done in the past and double up on the single serve packets to make twice as much in one go to fit my tumbler. Compared to the last few days drinks, which were a bit thinned out from using more water with less powder, this felt ULTRA tart and tangy with a really sweet, zingy strawberry kool-aid sort of vibe.

Iced!

So, I liked this more the second time that I had it. I felt like I tasted a bit more strawberry along side the sweet and tangy ACV and hibiscus. It was a little bit like a more nature Kool-Aid sort of vibe. Not unsweetened, but like… half sweetened!?

Idk. These probiotic boosted powders just really appeal_ to me.

The last of Blume’s new line!

Personally, this was my least favourite – though it was still good. The whole line is really enjoyable, and I think it’s a brilliant addition to Blume’s product offerings. I love that they’re expanding past lattes, and really challenging and innovating in the superfood powder space. I have a lot of respect for them.

This one has the same ACV tang that is present in all the powders, though I think maybe it’s also the sweetest? I expected more tartness and intensity from the hibiscus to be honest, but I think the strawberry leads the flavour here – it’s just a bit of a “weaker” strawberry note. It’s sorta generic feeling. Maybe that’s the reason I didn’t love it as much? That said, I’m sure it’ll probably be the most popular one in the line because it’s very safe/commercial feeling and strawberry in general is less polarizing that some of the other flavours. The Blume PDP describes it as tasting like Pink Lemonade, and I do disagree with that though. It’s not lemony at all. Tangy, yes – but that doesn’t make a pink lemonade flavour in and of itself.

Also, it’s very beautiful when whisked (like the others) – a lovely rosy pink shade!

Iced!

I’ve been trying to pace myself a little better with these single serves – not because I’m getting sick of them (far from it) but because I’m sipping through them at such a fast pace that I’m going to be out soon, and Blume is very back ordered on them so I won’t be able to repurchase for a while…

This “brew” was very, very interesting though. In general I’ve really enjoyed the almost lemonade-like sweet and tangy citrus notes, but I’ve found the ginger notes somewhat lacking. In this case, I actually tasted the subtle earthy heat of the ginger more than any other time I’ve whisked this up. It tasted fine, though it through me for a loop because I’ve just become so used to the flavour being lemon forward without much ginger at all.

Realizing that I forgot to log this from back when I was in Vegas! I ended up making this as a hotel room drink very hastily whisked up and downed in one of the short 15 minute periods I had midafternoon as I switched from morning restaurant/shopping mode to walking the expo floor. Could have whisked better as this was a little clumpy but the bright lemon was so refreshing and perfect!

Continuation of my exploration in water ratios. This time I used one packet for one and a half times the recommended water, and I thought that was much better. Obviously still thinner than following the directions, but I still tasted all the normal flavours I typically get when drinking this. The main reason I’ve been playing with the ratios it just because, while I love these powders, I’m finding that the serving sizes just aren’t enough for me to feel satisfied by the end of the cup – and I don’t want to just double up on packets every time I make one. That’s just not super economical.

Doubled up on sticks of this to make a super large iced tumbler, which was really refreshing. Definitely still more of a juicy, tart and intense souped up lemonade kind of vibe. So little ginger. I mean, really, the more I think about it the more I feel like it was a misnomer on Blume’s part to put ginger in the name instead of going the lemonade route.

The more I drink this the less I taste the ginger in it and the more I just start viewing it as a souped up and extra tangy lemonade powder. So refreshing! I’m still trying to do a daily probiotic drink, and these are just super easy for me to incorporate into that goal.

Next flavour I tried!

I expected this to be my least favourite as, like I recently noted in another tasting note, I’m not super into the combination of lemon and ginger when cold (and these powders are really more for iced drinks). However, it ended up being more in the middle for me when it comes to the three flavours overall. The main reason for that is that the ginger is very, very light. Just the faintest little bit of heat and tickle.

Mostly this tasted like a souped up lemonade. Very, very bright and tart with a pleasant sweet and sour pucker to it on top of that more tangy apple cider vinegar note that’s present in all three powders. Quite refreshing! It makes me think of all the people who have lemon juice and ACV combined together as a shot in the morning – this is so much more palatable than that, but similar in vibes.

Also, really gorgeous bright and saturated sunny yellow colour!

I pretty much always drink these SuperBelly powders in a rotation of three to make sure I’m going through the packets evenly, but this is always the one I reach for first when I start a new rotation of three. My opinion hasn’t changed: the darker juicy berry and pomegranate notes in this make it the best of the three.

A late night drink that I had bedside while in Vegas. I shook it up real good in a water bottle and just had it there to sip on as I wound down for the evening. Very refreshing, and so convenient for the hotel.

I’ve been dabbling with how watered down I can make a single packet of this so that I have more to drink without it tasting too noticeable weak/watered down. This was too big of swing because I essentially doubled up my water but only used the one single serve. It was a beautiful striking deep purple red colour but the flavour was thin. Kind of like a Vitamin Water. Good option if you don’t want to taste the apple cider vinegar at all, but I found myself missing that juicy tang.

Doubled up on the stick packs to make a much larger cup of this than what I have been drinking thus far. It was a little strong since I didn’t perfectly double the water amount to match the increase in powder, and that gave the juicy dark fruit notes a little bit of a syrupy quality to them. However, I still really enjoyed this!

Drank this today as my first cuppa when I got to work. It’s still very much my favourite of the three. Though tangy with a bit more of a slick mouthfeel, I feel like it’s also the one out of these three flavours that tastes the most like fresh fruit juice. Pomegranate juice, to be particular. Coupled with the juicy dark berry notes it’s just so refreshing and dynamic tasting to me.

So Blume just released their first sub-line of products: three non-latte powders targeting gut health that they’ve named “SuperBelly”! Everything about this line kind of intrigues me, so I had to get them all the explore. The ingredient composition is essentially the same in all three, minus the different fruit powders and flavourings to achieve the three individual flavours.

I tried this one first – it was super easy to make (just dissolve in cold water) and the colour was this GORGEOUS deep purple-y red hue. From my first sip I was pretty in love, to be honest. Between the acai and pomegranate I think you taste more pomegranate, but the whole drink is sweet and juicy with these very dark notes of macerated berries and fresh pomegranate juice. You can also very clearly taste the tangy, sweet and acidic apple cider vinegar. I love ACV so that’s nothing but a win for me but, also, I think because there’s other flavours going on that this could be a really approachable way to incorporate ACV if you’re less enthused about that taste on its own.

The other thing I find interesting is the added probiotics. It’s the same strain that DT uses in Vanilla Parfait, so I know it quite well. I’ve been personally having some milder gut issues the last few weeks so I’ve been looking for different ways to incorporate more probiotics into my own routines (not just through tea), so having more options to add in to supplement that does really appeal to me – and I love that the probiotics in this blend are also supported by the inclusion of ingredients rich in prebiotics (inulin from artichokes). It’s the same kind of thing I did with all the chicory included in Vanilla Parfait…

Anyway, 10/10 for me!

TTB tea! This didn’t blend smoothly, so it’s still a bit gritty. The flavor tastes sort of off or spoiled. I taste fruitiness and strangeness. Due to the color, I’d guess this has butterfly pea flower, which definitely brings a savory weirdness. Yeah, I hoped to enjoy this, but it’s really not good. Whipped cream helped a little.

Another Strange VariaTea TTB powdered herbal, but this one isn’t purely herbs – coconut milk powder and coconut sugar are the first two ingredients. But then also the instructions want me to add more non-dairy milk on top of that? Like, what is happening here?

I did prep it per instructions, using oat milk, but I don’t love this. The texture is a bit chalky, for starters, and I’m also just not in love with the flavor. I’ve enjoyed other floral lattes before, but for some reason this one just isn’t working for me. Part of me wants to play around with it to figure out why I don’t like it, but I’m choking it down as it is and it would be better loved by someone else.

Oat Milk Latte!

Blume’s “newest” flavour is Gingerbread which, umm, yum! Especially looking forward to trying this one as an eggnog latte once the grocery stores straight bringing in eggnog for the year. I put newest in quotations because they actually did have it last year too, but it was exclusive to Chapters/Indigo. Now it’s on a ton of different channels.

It reminds me a lot of their Oat Milk Chai powder, but honestly I liked this better. It’s got some spice overlap like the cinnamon and clove but this is more allspice forward and very, very molasses-y and densely sweet. Which, y’know, makes sense because there’s molasses powder in the blend as well as other more heavy/dense natural sweeteners like date and lucuma powder – both of which have this almost “brown/maple” fruity sweetness to them. It works super well together!
