TTB tasting: the licorice really comes through strongly, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It has a lot of medicinal benefits with all the adaptogenic herbs, but I just can’t get paste the licorice.

drank Brain Fog by Cedar Hill Homestead

It’s later in the afternoon now, I guess it’s evening really, but I feel like I’ve been moving at a slow pace all day and really wanted something that would help me focus without the added caffeine. Even if all I get from this is the comfort of a warm mug on my hands, I’ll be glad for it.

Herbals aren’t always for me, especially ones without fruit, so I wasn’t sure if I’d end up liking the taste of this blend. Lucky me, I do! Without looking at the ingredients, I can taste licorice root and I can feel (more than taste) the cooling effect of some type of mint. Mountain mint, according to the package.

Whether this helps with brain fog, I don’t know. I wasn’t experiencing any brain fog before I started drinking it. I may try it one day when I am, to see if it helps. At least I’ll know then that the flavor is a pleasant one.

I live in perpetual brain fog ;) May have to research this blend!

Shae

Mine isn’t perpetual, thank goodness, but I do have my good and bad days. CHH is doing their next release sometime this month, I think, if you decide to order some of this blend. I’m pretty sure there is a tincture option as well, if you enjoy tinctures.

Shae

Maybe I’m having brain fog today because I also should have said that I can send you some if you want to try it first. :)

gmathis

I’d take you up on it if it weren’t for the licorice, but thank you for the kind offer!

Shae

Licorice isn’t my favorite either, so I completely understand!

The more I drink this one, the more I love it. It’s smoky and chocolaty, lightly spiced. It’s very dark and rich. I also feel like I’m doing something good for my body with the addition of nettles, chicory, and mushrooms. I don’t typically like the flavor of “healthy” teas, but this is a really decadent way to get some extra nutrients in. Plus I love buying from smaller businesses. This one’s made by my favorite herbalist!

Ah, this sounds GOOD. I looked on the site, not available right now!

Shae

She normally does a release every couple months. Her next one is this weekend and starts Friday at 4pm Central.

Shae

OR I can send you some to try. I always forget to mention that. I’m happy to share whatever’s in my cupboard.

I think she’s taking a break for the holidays, so after this weekend her shop won’t be open again until February. My list has gotten ridiculously long at this point.

tea-sipper

Very kind of you to offer, Shae! Maybe at some point…

Shae

Shop just opened if anyone is interested in this one!

The more I drink this one, the more I love it. So complex, rich, and smooth.

I have been trying to get my hands on this tea for months. Not exaggerating. Cedar Hill Homestead only does releases once every month or two, and apparently this particular tea has a following. I finally got a 4-ounce bag in my last purchase and saved it for tea night with my brother. It’s the first time he’s been able to come over for a visit since probably January. He and I both love smoky teas, so it was the perfect pick for the evening. Well, aside from the caffeine, which I wasn’t too worried about on a Friday night.

This tea is all smoke, wow. It definitely lives up to its name. I didn’t really notice any of the chai spices or other ingredients, but I was visiting and chatting while drinking. Next time I’ll pay more attention to the flavors. I have plenty of this left to experiment.
