Trying the last of my Christine Dattner teas today. While I like them, I wouldn’t say I’m quite as impressed as I perhaps expected to be. I mean, they’re tasty enough but not especially out of the ordinary.

According to the description, this one’s supposed to be a Chinese black tea base with four red fruits – strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant. There are a few dried berries scattered amongst the leaf, but not as many as I’d thought there might be.

To taste, it’s “red fruit” but hardly more defined than that – I can’t pick out one fruit flavour over another, which is a shame. It’s sweet and tart in the way of most berry blends, and the black base is lightly malty and a touch astringent. That works quite well with the slight sourness of the berries, although I’d prefer a less drying base on the whole. One thing in its favour is that the berry flavour is natural-tasting, with none of the syrupy artificiality I’ve come across in a few other similar blends recently. That’s a refreshing change, if nothing else.

This one is pleasant enough, but nothing especially outstanding. I might try cold brewing it in the summer.

These are some of the oldest teas in my cupboard, other than a few SBTs that I’m saving for the summer. I figured it was time to give another one a chance, given that I’ve been pretty happy with them so far.

This one lives up to its name pretty well. Caramel is the main flavour, followed by vanilla. There are lots of caramel pieces amongst the leaf, so I imagine that accounts for it in part, although it also means there’s a pretty oily texture to the whole thing. I like that the flavours are pretty natural, though, and not overdone in the slightest. It’s a sweet, gentle, and a pleasant cup for a very cold morning.

I wouldn’t say I get cookie from this, as such; there’s nothing at all that makes me think “biscuit”. I’m happy with it, though, so that’s a minor complaint on the whole. It still has a delicious dessert quality, and that’s really all I wanted!

Valentine’s Day tea. The scent of this one dry is a little pungent and overpowering – like so many teas of this kind, it reeks of artificial strawberry and rose. In actual fact, though, it’s really nice. The main flavour is a deliciously sweet, slightly sugary, syrupy strawberry. There’s an undercurrent of lychee, which is a little richer and less sweet than the strawberry, and a delicious complement. I can’t really taste rose, but that’s just as well given that it’s not really my thing.

I’m enjoying this one a lot more than I expected to, given the initial scent. It’s not all that unique, as far as valentine’s teas go, but it’s certainly delicious! I’m pleased to have a significant quantity of this one, because it’s a tea I could drink pretty much all year round.

Thought it was about time I got around to this one, since I can’t actually remember when I bought it. Probably a _long_time ago. It was unopened, until today, and properly sealed, so I’m not too worried. I bought this one originally because I love blueberries, especially in tea, and because dolphin sprinkles. I have to admit to being slightly disappointed on that score, though, because I struggled to find one in my bag. I did eventually, but it’s quite a deformed dolphin to say the least – nothing like the ones in the picture. Maybe I can’t judge a tea by its dolphin sprinkles (that would be irresponsible) but there are no blue cornflowers either. As it turns out, not so big blue…

The flavour rescues this one, because it’s really very good. Sweet, juicy blueberry up front, with a deeper, darker, earthier, somehow more berry-ish blackberry towards the end of the sip. I think there are supposed to be blackcurrants, as well, but if they’re there then they’re a little lost. Not that I mind – blueberry and blackberry rule the day here, and that’s okay with me.

I’m pretty sure this will make a good cold brewed or iced tea in the summer, so I’m going to try and keep some back for that. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem, since I have a large-ish bag. It’s got to be 75-100g, at least.

I’m glad I decided to try this one, dolphin sprinkle disappointment aside.

2nd tasting of this tea and I think I steeped for 5+ minutes; although stronger, it is still very smooth! The subtle floral and blueberry flavors are still there but not as noticeable this time around; this might be because I over-steeped or because I just ate some funyuns. Will have to make another note later.

A cloth sachet?! wow, that is a first for me.

The bergamot and blueberry flowers are very subtle leaving the natural flavor of the tea intact. Smooth and Sweet black tea with a hint of floral seem to be the dominant flavors here. Very nice tea.

I just ate some Pocky Squeeze before drinking this, so I’ll try to leave another note or edit this one later.

Thanks for this, TheLastDodo! Dolphin sprinkles!! This is such a fun blend. So blue… with blueberries, blackberries, black currants and blue cornflower. The last time I drank this, I definitely had a plump blueberry and a blackberry in the mug. This time around, I don’t think I had any fruit in the infuser but there is plenty of black currant flavor anyway. I think the base is a Ceylon which isn’t my favorite base (too light). I wish there was more of a balance between the three berries, but I like this blend overall.

This tea looks And smells live blueberry heaven. Don’t forget the main attraction, Dolphin Sprinkles. I mean, who cares what else is in this? I could just leave it there. But! Cutesy sprinkles in tea does not make for a standout tea. Luckily, the tea lives up to it’s sprinkles. Yummy and robust, this is a good morning tea that is perfect with blueberry muffins :P

Of course I had to order this! It’s actually really good too. Strong blackberry note, and as a first tea of the day it’s working well to wake me up. I may have more to write once I have had more of it. It’s still pretty hot.

But, dolphin sprinkles!

I keep doing this thing where I buy teas because they have unusual flavors (like mangosteen, and now this one, with lichee). Then I drink them and I don’t know if they are a good representation of the flavor because I have nothing to compare to. With that said, this is really delicious and I am enjoying it a lot. I would have guessed strawberry and a little chocolate if I hadn’t read the description. There are cute little sugar hearts in it, which I also love.
