First, I want to say, I contacted Compass Teas and this is a VEGAN Tea.

Having said that…this DOES smell like a Marshmallowy type aroma. The dry loos leaf is just that…loose leaf…there are no novelTEAs added…it’s a flavored leaf.

It does lose a bit of the aroma once infused. I’m ok with that, tho.

It brews-up very dark brown.

The taste is quite good. It has a medium-strong black tea base. It has a little bit of a sugary-type flavor to it as well as almost equal parts black pepper type flavor to it. In the middle to end of the sip there is a nice amount of woodsy-ness to it, too!

This is an interesting, unique, festive, and tasty flavored black tea! Neat!

crazy4u

that sounds good :)

CupofTree

drank Watermelon by Compass Teas

Smells like wonderful Watermelon!

This has a solid and bold black tea base and the watermelon flavor works nicely but isn’t over powering. I would say strong black tea base and medium strength on the watermelon flavoring. The black tea base barrels thru in the end. Neat!

I really like this flavored black tea, too! WOWZA! One of the better Watermelon flavored teas I have tried!

Oh.My.GAWD.

This takes me on a trip to YUMSVILLE!

This is one of the better chai’s I have tried and one of the best specialty-flavored chai’s I have come across!

It reminds me of a Spiced Donut from Tim Hortons! It’s like drinking chai and eating a donut at the same time!

The spices are just-right for my liking! The Vanilla is a wonderful touch! The pastry-likeness to a donut is right around where it should be! Overall this is a real winner! WOW! I really like this one!

Bonnie

Sounds good. Hard to find an exceptional chai.

This is the first of MANY from Compass Teas I will be writing about over the next few days/weeks! I’m so excited!

Dry this COMPLETELY smells like coconut and Macaroons! Awww-YEAH!

Once the water was added and had time to work it’s magic I sipped and sipped!

Yup! Crusty/Bakey/Cakey/Cookie with coconut and macaroon goodness! Nice taste-match! Really neat flavored black tea! YUMMO!

Terri HarpLady

Yum! That sounds like something I’d like!

Azzrian Thanks, girl!
:)

First – I want to say that I have been blogging like a crazy person again and would LOVE for you to FOLLOW ME – also – if you have a blog please let me know as I would LOVE to follow you, too!

Here’s the URL to mine:
http://blissfulyogajourney.blogspot.com/

Anyhow…I must say I do LOVE Compass Teas as they have a HUGE selection to choose from, MANY Organic Ingredients, and interesting flavors, not to mention a neat website.

This Buttercream Frosting one is pretty good, mainly, because of how sweet it is…and I like the fact it’s made with the Green Rooibos instead of regular Rooibos. It IS sweet and creamy.

HOT – it is a little brothy but I agree with my Sororitea Sister Azzrian that it’s better cold, too!

Sil

interesting, never heard of this company before :)

TeaEqualsBliss

They are a goodie!!!!

Sil

bah..another non canadian shipping company :(

TeaEqualsBliss

DOH! Sorry!

Sil

Not to worry…at least once i year i get to send oodles of “presents” to my friends in florida to hold for me to come pick up. They love letting me take over their closets for a few weeks before the visit!

Azzrian

You are more than welcome my Sista! :)

drank Smooth Earl by Compass Teas
169 tasting notes

I see we meet again, Monday.
Earl Grey is definitely required for Mondays.
When I spotted this sample from TeaEqualsBliss I thought I would give it a try.
Smooth Earl, eh?
Well, My Earl is normally more of the strong, silent type, but maybe I would like to try a Smooth Earl for a change.
Is he going to tell me how I look real hot in this old tee shirt with my hair a mess this morning?
Or how it musta hurt when I fell from heaven.
Or some other smooth line.
Well, lets see…dry, the leaves are not overly bergamot-y but it is there.
Scent of the tea is almost a cologne-like bergamot, not strong but different then some of the bergamot’s I am used too.
There is supposed to be a hint of vanilla, but I am not getting that when I smell the tea.
Taste is good, I can taste the bergamot and the black tea is nice and smooth.
Still no vanilla.
Overall, a nice Earl Grey.
He has flattered me enough to get me moving on this Monday Morning.

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec
Bonnie

I just know there’s a tea bar somewhere with those kind of imaginary ’Earl’s’ ready to serve up a good cuppa! (the guys are going to scold me for this comment and I don’t care!) …tea!

Mercuryhime

Sounds like a great idea! There’ll be all sorts of earl grey teas and earl infused desserts. And all the servers will be Earl of something!

Hesper June

LOL! I like how you ladies think!

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for letting me try this tea! I was a bit nervous as a lot of cookie type teas I have been trying lately have been major let downs. This tea doesn’t have an obvious cookie scent like some other teas, but boy oh boy does it have the flavor! The sugary almond notes blend so well in this tea, and with a bit of rock sugar it tastes like I’ve frosted the top of the treat! Glad I was able to try it and can’t wait for my next cup. In fact.. I might make another right now!

drank Christmas Cookie by Compass Teas
807 tasting notes

Mmmmmmmmm I do love this one! Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for this LOVELY tea! You know it is so much like my beloved Almond Cookie from Joy’s Teaspoon and a couple other teas I have that are very similar except this actually has TEA in it! LOL I think this is one I will fall in love with and order more of! I absolutely LOVE the flavor of this tea yet it has the black tea kick I need in it. Oh yes I am in love here. SIGH sweet but not sappy, almond, crusty baked good flavor, nutty, buttery, what more could I want in life?
Thank you thank you thank you TeaEqualsBliss yes tea does equal bliss! :)

drank Christmas Cookie by Compass Teas

Thank you teaequalsbliss for the sample! When I saw this tea I immediately wanted to try it… Christmas in July? ;) Haha. Cough. Anyway… this tea excited me when I saw it, with the slivered almonds and what I thought was saffron, but later realized was just safflower. It’s a pretty blend and sounds like it would be right up my alley.

The flavor is pretty good too, spicy but soft and comforting. It definitely makes me feel nostalgic for the winter holiday season. Warm cinnamon flavor tinted with a baked, roasty, nutty almond tone jazz up a fairly dry-tasting black tea base. The desserty, cookie like flavoring is distinct but not overly sweet. If anything I would have turned up the volume on the almond – I’m crazy for almonds! I will happily drink the rest of my sample but I won’t go hunt down more of it. The black tea tastes pretty bitter up-front, which keeps this from being a great tea for me.

Another definite re-order here! I’m not going to say that every tea from Compass has been this good – but this and Apple Pie are absolutely getting stocked again!
This is so spot on to a good strawberry non chemical flavor – and champagne!
This last steep (this is a backlogged) was left to steep too long as I became distracted by other things and I was so angry with myself to ruin such a wonderful cup of tea but even though it was burnt and bitter those good strong flavors came through. Unfortunately the leaf was burnt and I lost the wonderful champagne flavor and the tender white leaf was in horrible despair … I felt bad for the leaf!
Regardless this tea really is one of the best strawberry champagne teas I have tried yet!
I should not this is not my first time having this tea. I just never did log it before.
My first experience with it was so blissful I ended up cuddling up with it on the sofa and not logging it.

Josie Jade

this sounds really good! i love a good champagne flavored tea, and the strawberries are a bonus!

TassieTeaGirl

Ah, excellent, this has given me an idea for our swap…

Azzrian

@ TassieTeaGirl Oh nice! :)
@ Miss SweetTea yes this is very lovely!

yumminess!! like eating berries dipped in sugar. Yes’um!
Thanks so much Azzrian, I had a blast with this tea today. Only… I didn’t make it past two steeps because we had a power outage in the office. Since we had no way to heat up water, I went to wash out my tea mugs and head home when the power came back on! but my tea had already been dumped :(
Sadness. Oh well, it means I got to make MORE TEA!! :P

Wow Azzrian, this is good!! thanks for the sample! When it was hot, I really did enjoy this. Not so much as it cooled though. It lost some of that strawberry flavour, and the dryness associated with champagne.
With a touch of agave though, the berry really popped again. I need to try it again, experiment with the parameters a little.
Anyhow, I have news y’all! I got my HR exam results today. I doubt anyone will recall, but I was studying for it a few months back. However, it was not easy. MUCH harder than I expected. So I assumed that I didn’t pass. I knew that I hadn’t passed. Except I knew wrong. I PASSED!! How did this happen?!?! am I dreaming? is it real? seriously???? Cool! wow. I am on cloud 9. Heck, cloud 900!
All day long I’ve been bouncing between dreamy and hyper. (and not bc of the tea this time haha)
Anyhow, just thought I’d share my little cup of happiness.
Now I just need to gain some real “hr” experience and then I am certified. mwahs!

LiberTEAS

congrats on passing your test. It’s amazing how helpful studying can be. :)

Azzrian

LOL so happy for you as you know from our PM but what a perfect tea to celebrate the occasion! :)

Indigobloom

thanks so much LiberTeas and Azzrian! It’s SUCH a relief to not have to write again in October

Missy

Yay! I’m glad you passed. :D

Daisy Chubb

Wow congrats!!! May many doors open for you in your future career!

drank Apple Pie by Compass Teas

A very generous sample of this was given to me when I ordered some other items from Compass Tea.
It is so yummy! Taste like home made apple pie!
I will absolutely ordering some of this next time I place a Compass order!
Delightful, enjoyable, and the perfect before bedtime drink! Again the green rooibos is a winner!

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 0 sec
Violet

Could some of that perhaps make its way onto my future package list? It sounds so good! (Depending on how much was in the sample, of course.)

Azzrian

I suppose it depends on when you want me to send you tea again! I plan to order some though sometime soon :) I am sure some can make your way !

Violet

Yes, and if not, I’m hoping to make some of my own orders soon enough, though I still have lots of tea that needs to be drank. (Though some I’m sending on, since there are those that I know I just don’t like that much and won’t drink again. None of yours so far, though.)

So much better cold steeped or iced than hot.
I was a little bummed when I sipped it hot/warm. The flavors where there but as if they were hiding from me. I let it cool and it began to evolve! Then my daughter and I added ice and it was SO YUMMY!
Cold steep is in the fridge now and smelling amazing!
While warm buttercream frosting would have been amazing – like melting frosting in your mouth I just was not finding the flavor I had been waiting for.
Cold brew, iced, its sweet and creamy!
I do love this tea and now I have another summer brew! :)

drank Smooth Earl by Compass Teas

ANOTHER WEIRD CRAVING! AGAIN when I got home today, I had a huge craving for some Earl Grey! So, this is what I’m brewing up! I’ve had one other tea from Compass Teas and it was pretty tasty so I’m hoping this one is too!

I LOVE the combination of bergamot and vanilla, it’s one of my favorites! This one smells like the two and there’s not one scent fighting another, which makes it basically smell like heaven (I use that simile a lot….). I added milk and sugar because 9/10 when I drink Earl Grey, milk and sugar are added (the remaining 1/10 is when the tea doesn’t have a black base). This one is super yummy! Creamy (the milk helps :P), sweet, and very satisfying while still being able to be relaxing. I really like this one! I see an order from Compass coming somewhere in the near future (although, I say that about every company!).

This one is definitely doing its job at relaxing me. I’m in the midst of studying for all of my AP exams and I’m SUUUUPER stressed. For those who don’t know, AP stands for Advanced Placement and they are certain classes (for instance, this year I’m in AP Art History and AP United States History, and next year I’m taking AP Government and Politics, Psychology, and English Language and Composition). The classes are the highest level possible at MOST schools (including mine) and they’re very challenging. In early May, you have the opportunity to take an AP exam, in which you take everything you’ve learned in the year and then apply it to a test. If you get a good score (the exams are graded on a scale from 1-5), then you can earn potential college credit. Plus, the classes look good on college applications. I’m currently studying for my two exams that are in less than 3 weeks and I’m SO stressed. I got two books that I plan on reading on the 8 hour drive to Philly this weekend. Anyways, my rant aside, this tea was really yummy!

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 0 sec
Erin

Ahh AP classes. Thank god I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Good luck on your exams!

Ian

I still have two more years of them too! :P Thanks! I reallllly hope I do well!

Dylan Oxford

AP as a sophomore? I don’t think that was even allowed at my high school (1.2 billion years ago). Kudos, good sir.

Kittenna

Go with the cravings!! :D

Ian

@Dylan-You can only take History APs as a sophomore at my school. I decided that I wanted to go for AP US because I had already taken an American history class in 8th grade and there was no “honors” option, only AP. I’m taking AP Art History online. But thank you :D

@Krystaleyn-Luckily I have enough tea to satisfy THOSE cravings. It really sucks when I have a food craving and I have no way of eating it!

Michelle

You’ll be fine! I didn’t take any APs (although I took the English Lit exam) and I did fine, got into a good school. It’s not everything :)

Ninavampi

I am sooo glad I am done with all of that craziness… It is completely worth it if you have your goals set high! : ) It all pays of in the end when you send in your applications!

ScottTeaMan

Best of luck Ian.

drank Bun Kicker by Compass Teas
119 tasting notes

So, like many other Steepsterites, I’m making an attempt at Spring Cleaning! Part of this (okay, most of this) is clearing out all my samples! So, I have a big pile of stuff that I have set out on my counter that I’m going to try to get through by the end of the weekend!

This was one of the teas sent to me by LiberTEAS. This smells absolutely DIVINE! Like an actual cinnamon bun, sweet and slightly spicy! The taste is pretty darn good, too! This tastes a lot like a cinnamon bun, with a little bit of tang that I can’t put my finger on, but I’d blame it on the hibiscus and the orange peel. A nice, sweet, frosting taste comes out at as an aftertaste, and it’s absolutely delicious!

Hooray! That makes two teas today that are really good! Let’s keep this going!

Preparation
Boiling 7 min, 30 sec

The name of this one makes me giggle :D
