Amazing!! This has been a great day for tea tasting adventures. Smooth, sweet, vanilla and cloves with a nice hint of orange. I thought this was a great tea to end my tea tasting evening with. The BF also loved this tea, I shall now apparently be guarding my stash of it from him…

No. Nononononono.

Uggggh. This was the fly in the tea after so many wonderful steeps today. No no no noooooo. It smelled so good in store too, with just a hint of fuzzy peaches and pears.

But ugh. Its all astringency and hibiscus and overpowering florals and bitter bitter bitter. Uggggh. I wish I could like this tea but no. Its not happening. The aftertaste is delicious, but the avalanche of bitterness you must endure to get there is too much for this owl to take. Ugh.

Creamy, nutty, very much a comfort-tea. Mama Owl rather likes this one too. Have yet to try with Salted Caramel as per suggestion, but it does feel like its missing something.

This would be great to experiment with and blend with other teas… Buttered Rum.. Salted Caramel…maybe even a few chais. Hmmm.. the possibilities are endless…

drank Coffee Chai (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

Got this as a latte-to-go today purely because I was curious. Dry, it smelled odd. I could pick up a bit of the coffee, but it was mostly spices.

This isn’t something I would drink all the time… but it woke me up and mellowed me out, which, as a non morning person is always a help on those rare occasions I must be out of bed before noon. Its a very mellow chai, which to me could have used some more kick to it. But the coffee flavour wasn’t overpowering which is what I was worried of. Overall… I’m still pondering it. Not a usual combination of flavours, but its not offputting to me at all.

Well… This certainly has been interesting.

Tried a whole bunch of different teas today, reviews to follow. This one, however, simply demanded it be done first. I’m probably going to sound bonkers while I’m at it, but that’s alright. Last time I was at DT and I smelled this, I got nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Didn’t do it for me. It looked green and wrinkly, and like it would be bitter and green and earthy and disgusting and the sight of it just turned me off altogether.

Today, however… it smelled intriguing. So much so, that we ended up buying a little bag. Hm. Well I guess we’ll try it. Mama Owl stepped it straight, while I opted for a latte-style (don’t ask me why, I just went with my gut). We both steeped, sipped, and wondered. And wondered. And wondered.

Neither of us expected it to taste so GOOD. Ladies and gentleowls, the name of the tea is Pistachio Cream but don’t let it fool you. At first it tasted like warm, melted pistachio ice cream. Crazy? Nope. Gets crazier. We started picking up other notes too, like sugary bubblegum, lollipops, and all the while, pistachio frickin’ ice cream. Thats when it hit us. Of course it tastes like ice cream and candy – its a fall tea. This is the Halloween Candy tea. bells ring

I’ve been so bummed that my favourite (and regrettably seasonal) Copabanana is done for the year, but this owl thinks she found her fall/winter replacement herbal.

Oh and the chamomile? What chamomile! I tasted no chamomile in this tea!

I actually quite enjoyed this one. I like mulberry magic so I was hoping it would be similar. It is a bit similar but also very different due to the chamomile. I like the creaminess of it though.
I think I still prefer mulberry magic though.
It is also very delicious cold, maybe even better actually.
I think I might try a longer steep next time, I noticed some people were steeping for 7 minutes.

So I got this as a sample from Davids…probably a month ago and I never really was inclined to try it since it’s been so hot. Well the weather has finally cooled down (THANK YOU) and I have probably consumed atleast 6 mugs of tea today (4 1/2 being since dinner). Currently I am enjoying this tea and it’s actually plesant. I wasn’t sure when the ingrediants list hinted at coconut (because that is usually an iced tea flavor for me) but this tea is perfect. The balance between the sweet and spicy notes are perfect.
Now I am only sad that it’s on the web specials (probably to be discontinued) for an insane amount of money….)

Felt like something cozy since it was raining all day and I’ve been freezing!!! I thought it might be weird to have this tea at this time of year, but it was perfect and delicious! I also made some cookies while drinking it. :)

Now it’s sunny out! Must be magic tea!

This was an “almost” sipdown, since I still have a little leaf, but not enough for a cup. Fortunately, I just ordered more, so it’s all good! I’ve been kind of on an ordering binge because there are all these great fall teas out from different companies, and I want to get some before they’re gone. I also justify this binge by saying that fall is my favorite season of flavors, and I’ll be drinking these well into winter. It may take me that long, honestly!

This tea really surprised me. I don’t love green teas as much as I want to. I really like genmaicha, but that’s pretty much where it ends. This tea really tastes like baked apples, so it’s kind of cheating, but I still get the benefit of less caffeine, and all the other benefits green tea is touted for, I suppose. I’m really looking forward to having more of this around, as well as more pumpkin chai, sugar and spice, and all the other teas from other companies I ordered. ;D Yay for Fall!

I was so surprised with this when I tasted in store. It was so good that I had to buy 50 grams! I also am on an ordering binge. Della Terra needs to stop releasing a couple new teas every week plus the percentage off sales. It is killing me.

I really really like this tea! It’s totally a taste of Fall! It makes me think of my yearly trip to Apple Hill, which is coming up soon! In fact, I have plans to go up there the weekend after this coming weekend! Farms with apples, apple pies, and other deliciousness. We are totally getting a whole strip of apple strudel this year! So, this tea is like a guilt-free version of all that! I will definitely be picking up some more!!

I’m not a huge fan of most green teas, yet. I say yet, because I hope someday to be more fond of them. I’m also not big on most apple-flavored teas. So why did I get this? It smelled amazing! That’s why! I was actually surprised how much I liked this. I think I prefer it to the apple cider-like teas. It must be the lack of orange. I didn’t get much of a pie crust note, but the apple is a nice baked apple flavor. Pretty darn delicious! Oh, and it helps that you can’t taste the green tea much. Ha!

I’ve never had buttered rum, but this mix of flavors sounded delicious, so I had to try it! This tea is sooooo creamy and sweet. It’s also kinda rummy! Surprise, surprise! Haha. It also has a sweet coconut flavor to it, so I’m thinking its kinda like coconut rum! Not bad! I think this tea would be particularly awesome on a cold icky day. It does have a little artificial note to it, but who cares, it’s good! Definitely takes care of a sweet tooth!

Love this one still.

drank Mango Lassi by DAVIDsTEA
761 tasting notes

I think this tea smells amazing, but when I started drinking, I picked up more chamomile than mango, which is odd. It might be the 7 minute steep they did (it was a TTG today). I did pick up a small amount to play with at home. As I was walking downtown with my mug, I was thinking to myself how remarkably close to Buttercream this tastes, without the white base. I do add milk to Buttercream, so I do want to try this one with milk too. I don’t seem to love this one quite as much as Buttercream. At least not with this present steeping, but maybe a later one I will. I may also just buy this to mix with white tea and make my own buttercream.

I’m thinking that in pure terms of tasting like a mango lassi, neither this, nor Butiki’s really taste like them, but Butiki’s is way more mango-y than this one. I like them both for totally different reasons. They may have the same name, but they taste nothing alike to me.

keychange

Oh god, silly chamomile. I had DT’s pistachio cream to go the other day (iced), and it was delicious. Having it hot was another story entirely though, and the chamomile hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. Blech. uggh. Eww.

Plunkybug

I may try Pistachio Cream cold steeped, but not a fan hot.

drank Chocolate Rocket by DAVIDsTEA

Okay, so I was a little worried I was going to regret having mate instead of my beloved black tea first thing in the morning, but this was pretty good! I haven’t tried a lot of mate, so I’m still a newbie, but this one had a nice complexity of flavor, and a good thickness to it. Mate always smells and tastes like banana chips to me, and I don’t think I’m the only one, based on the reviews I’ve read. I could taste banana, chocolate, some nuttiness, and maybe a little raspberry in the aftertaste. I think the thickness was just perfect, making it more like black tea. I didn’t feel like I got a huge jolt of caffeine, so I’m not sure if this woke me up or not, but I’m glad I didn’t get all crazed. I really did enjoy it, and I think it will be a nice occasional alternative to my morning black tea! All thanks to the DavidsTea sales guy, who kindly gave me some for free! How awesome is that?!

jeweledthumb

I really like this one too (semi surprisingly)

Tealizzy

jeweledthumb – ya, I was totally surprised! Have you tried any other mate you like? I have some cocoberry I haven’t tried yet, so that should be interesting.

Hm….. I had a cup of this this morning since I had the sniffles. It scent was great – very minty and cut right through the sinuses. The taste wasn’t great though. I think next time I might put some honey in it, that might sweeten it up a bit.

Edit: Ok, no, don’t put honey in it haha. The sweetness does not mesh well with the minty, and it feels very odd in my throat. Oh sniffles, do go away!

drank Coconut Oolong by DAVIDsTEA

If you like coconut, this tea is for you. If you like oolongs, this tea’s second steep is for you. As an oolong, it’s second steep is always the best, and this tea is no different. I like DT’s Coconut Oolong so much, I’ve been known to steep the same tea up to 4 times!

My favourite way to make Coconut Oolong is sweetened with Canadian Maple syrup while steeping, use sweetened vanilla almond milk, and top with whipped cream! Makes a magnificent after dinner dessert, or an afternoon treat.

This has got to be one of my favourites from David’s Tea. As an iced latte with soy milk it’s a great ice cream substitute without the calories. The sweetness mixed with chocolatey goodness is phenomenal. When I’ not sure what kind of tea I’m in the mood for, this is my go to tea. I purchase it 100g at a time and it runs out fast!

drank Mint Julep by DAVIDsTEA

I can not believe how much I have come to love this tea after the rocky start it and I had… I think I you learn so much as you drink different types of tea and learn what ingredients taste like. When I first tasted this tea, I didn’t really understand what this particular combination of ingredients would taste like. I saw mint and citrus and my mind omitted the peel and all I could think was great- mojito! End result, not mojito… That being said, this is such a wonderful black tea. It can brew for ages and not get bitter. There are definite hints of coconut and citrus peel to help make the mint a little more unique. It is great hot, it is good cooling down, sometimes it even merits a cold steep.

I am not the biggest spearmint fan in the world, but this is a really nice version of spearmint tea. This is another staple I love to carry around in my tea traveller!

Tried this again today. Definitely more of a fan now that I know what to expect for flavour. I also tossed in about a quarter scoop of lemon myrtle- which worked amazingly well to bring out the lemon in the mint blend. I think I will be cold steeping it like this more often!

Hmm, what do I say about this tea?? Do I love it? Do I like it? I am not really sure with my first foray. I cold brewed a Timolino of it and took it to work today. To be fair, my other Timolino held Guava Cadabra (a tough to beat favourite of mine). Each sip I took I was more unsure, my initial no turned quickly into a maybe and became closer and closer to a definite yes. The mint was definitely there, but I felt that the dominant flavour note might actually be the coconut. I think this is a mature flavoured iced tea and maybe not as sure as sell as the fruity tisanes I generally gravitate towards. I can not deny that this tea was super refreshing though and a nice change. I think this is definitely a tea I could come to love. Is it nuts that I am tempted to throw a bit of lemon in there too, though?

drank Lime Gelato by DAVIDsTEA

Earlier this summer I found myself in a brick and mortar David’s, which was a ridiculously awesome shopping experience. I ordered this as a Tea Pop as I was getting ready to check out. After looking over the receipt later, I found out they didn’t charge me for it!

Fast forward a few months, and I stumbled across this tea while looking for something I haven’t tried yet. From memory, I could have sworn it was an herbal. I didn’t really notice much green tea at all in the bag, so maybe that’s why my memory failed me. The smell reminds me of key lime pie (making it a bit similar to Lime Chiffon in that regard).

The suggested steeping temperature is 200F, which seems way too high for green tea. I went with 180F, which is my standard temperature for greens. The result was sooooo tasty. I absolutely adore this tea. If there were a graham component to the flavor, I would swear it was key lime pie in a cup. I honestly didn’t taste much of the green base, so it loses a few points for that.

Well done, David’s.
