This tea iced with a bit of agave, summer in a cup. Nothing explains it better! It’s perfectly fruit and sweet, not overpowering but still maintains a strong flavour. This may be my new favourite tea for the summer time!

drank Movie Night by DAVIDsTEA
6 tasting notes

Another delicious tea from DAVIDsTEA that will become a regular in my tea cupboard. I picked this one up today along with 100g of Chocolate Cake and once again I’m more than pleased with my purchases.

I just finished my first cup of Movie Night and I’m already ready for another! First off it smells wonderful, like lightly caramelised popcorn with a sweet hint of apple. I very lightly sweetened mine with honey and it brought out the flavours wonderfully. You can definitely taste the popcorn and the apple pieces add a subtle layer of flavour that really completes the flavour perfectly.

If I had any critique to offer at all, I would say that I didn’t really taste the green tea in this much, so if you’re looking for the green tea flavour to come through, you might be disappointed with this tea.

All in all, I would highly recommend this very tasty tea!

Bought some of this because I needed some more black teas to wake me up my early morning exams. I bought it because I love DAVIDs Chocolate teas on a whole (especially chocolate rocket and love tea #7) so thought why not?
In terms of black tea, I didn’t really taste the black tea (which I prefer). The chocolate flavour was good, tasted like cake actually does! It didn’t really have the richness I was hoping for though, and that made the flavour overall lacking for me.
Still yummy, no magic though!

drank Kiwi's Big Adventure by DAVIDsTEA

A new favourite. This is the first tea that I have come across that I really enjoy hot and cold. From the dry notes, I got a very lovely sweet fragrance. When steeped, the same thing comes out…yippie! I thought this tea would be weak in flavour, but heck no, it’s loaded with sweetness for 2 steeps! I felt like I was drinking a fruit juice! The ingredients used were pure genius, they were able to get an very noticeable kiwi flavour! I love kiwi’s.

Mine didn’t have a ton of flavour, but because of the kiwi(?) it had a different fruity flavour to other flavoured greens from DavidsTea. Refreshingly different, if nothing else :)

Oh my, I am in love! The woman at DT said that this reminded her of coffee, which I do miss but my stomach can no longer handle. But, the coffee comment had me wondering. Will it be acidic? Will it be tea pretending to be coffee and therefore fake?

But, it was not at all. It sure looks like coffee when it is brewing. But, other than that, it is pure tea. The taste is strong and lovely, but it has very little after-taste (well, as long as you steep it not too long). I think the coffee comment was about the full-bodied aspect of it – it does not taste watery at all. The tea goes down extremely smoothly. It is perfect for the morning, or for one of those long rainy days when energy seems to be fleeting.

The best part about it, is that my husband, who does not understand the big deal about the teas, does not understand why I have a drawer of 20 different kinds, and looks at me with a somewhat glazed, patient expression when I talk about them, LOVES this tea! Score one point for the tea lovers!!!!

I have yet to get into all of DavidsTea’s straight teas. I feel like this one would maybe be a good starting point? Did you drink it plain (i.e. w/o milk or sugar)?

Indestructible

I had it with milk and sugar, as I do all black teas. Apparently they do drink it that way in Kenya. Good luck!

Indigobloom

I just had a conversation with Mum this morning about how this reminds me so much of coffee!! it’s where I turn when I miss it :)

I stopped by my local DAVIDs and got this one to go iced. It was very refreshing and the kiwi was yummy but it wasn’t my favorite blend. It was a little bitter almost…
I can’t really compare to other green teas that I’ve tried iced because it was the first one that I’ve tried. Probably won’t get it again but it was a nice refreshing drink on a nice sunny afternoon.

drank Birthday Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Yum! The dry tea smells so sweet. Close your eyes and you’d be convinced you were about to bite into a delicious birthday cake, complete with tons of vanilla icing. This one, just like the Ice Cream Cake, has sprinkles in it. It’s important to note that this tea is extremely fine. The first time I made it I used my pincer, which let out about half my tea. Needless to say, straining the tea afterwards wasn’t the most pleasant experience.

Just as I’m about to take a sip, I notice the nice, light smell of vanilla. Maybe even maple? This one, although it has sprinkles and ice cream bits just like the Ice Cream Cake, doesn’t have a layer of residue on the top of the tea. The tea tastes great; I feel like there are hints of maple and caramel. I was expecting more icing, but I’m tasting a lot of cake batter. Definitely not a bad thing since birthday cake batter is always delicious. This tea is creamy as well, but not as sweet as the Ice Cream Cake.

After my great experience with adding milk to Ice Cream Cake, I know I need to try this one with milk too… And again, it’s a nice touch. The tea’s creamier, which goes well with the taste of cake batter. Unfortunately, I think I might have added too much milk as it’s distracting from some of the flavours I initially noted and enjoyed.

This tea smells like a birthday cake and tastes like a birthday cake with maple syrup poured over it. I’ve had some bad experiences with rooibos in the past, but this has definitely changed my opinion of it!

I really liked this one. I am a huge fan of green teas and this one was really good. It tasted like real green tea should, not very bitter and oceanic. I think this will be my regular green tea because the price is decent, and the taste is great (:

I’ve been craving pu’erh all day, which is odd for me.

But I suppose it’s due to Bonnie and all you lovely people on my dash reviewing pu’erhs that’s made me crave it.

Considering that I haven’t really found it to be to my liking, I don’t have much. But I do have a little sample tin of this one from where I ordered a sampler pack. And you know what? I really like it this time.

It brews a beautiful dark red, caramelly color. And then the scent – very earthy and dark, like walking barefoot through a dark forest, the dirt and leaves under your feet, scent of pines in the air, a lake up ahead. It’s all age and rocks and time.

Oh, and butter and peppermint and sugar snap peas.

I’m a pu’erh convert! More reasons to buy tea… ahha.

Good for you! My 11 year old grandson loves puerh with a little sugar (I use splenda) so caramely earthy good in the morning!

I’m hooked now! Do you have any recommendations?

I’m a pu-erh novice – I’ve tried a little, but not very much. This is the first one I’ve ever liked, though. I wouldn’t have ordered if it didn’t come in a sampler pack I ordered, but I’m glad it did.

I do get a lot of the fishy smell that other people are getting, but I don’t get it in the taste, which I’m glad for. (Although maybe I am and just don’t know it – I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t eat fish!) And it’s not fishy like a fish market would be… more like taking a walk in the woods near an ocean? There’s definitely an earthiness that comes out, especially on subsequent steeps.
But the liquor, true to its name, is definitely a beautiful golden-red color. It tastes very earthy, especially as it steeps more and more times (I’m brewing this gong-fu before class in the morning – I knew I wouldn’t have time to finish a mug, but I could do a few smaller cups!)
It’s very earthy. I don’t know if I’ll order it again, but it’s not a sample I’m running to get rid of.

I find the aroma of the brewed infusion to be slightly offensive- tangy and sour. This does not, however, transfer into the flavour. I find the flavour to be dilute peppermint tasting with a mix of medicinal herb taste in the background.

Got a sample of this thanks to Krystaleyn its very nice. The top was a little scummy due to all the flavoring oils and such but thats not a big deal and pretty typical of a lot of flavored teas, for some reason I notice it even more in Rooibos so maybe it is a rooibos thing too, I dunno. But whatever, it is nice, flavorful, spicy but not too spicy, sweet but not too sweet. I kept looking for some nasty after taste but found none so plus 1 there. I will re-steep as long as I can quit eating all the coconut, apples, and such out of the mesh basket. This is probably not going to be on my “to order” list but I would not turn it down if offered to me by a friend, like this was. :)
Its good.

drank The Earl of Lemon by DAVIDsTEA

Smell: just like an earl grey
Colour: a nice yellow
1st steep: Surprisingly mellow taste, with the white tea taste peeking through. I definitely get the earl grey taste but much more mellow and slightly sweeter with the little creamy touch from the yogurt.
2nd steep: 90degrees, 4min—still citrusy, but less earl grey tasting. It is still sweet with a hint of creaminess
I will certainly re-buy this one

This was tasty. I’m almost tempted to buy a tin. but not quite enough. I have so many juice teas already… I do not need another. but the cinnamon. Oh how I love cinnamon!! when it’s in a dessert. Not so much as a spicy candy. bleh.
It’s very rich, this one. And like I said, the cinnamon… mmmm. it just adds something special here. and maybe the banana as well. I like banana in my teas, apparently. Though I’ve never considered that option til today. It seems I like it enough to forgive the evil doings of hibby! ha!
You know what… maybe I’ll add a dash of cinnamon to some of my other fruity teas. Maybe then I won’t have to add yet another tea to my cupboard!! Not sure what to do about adding banana. Plantain chips probably would not do the trick!

Daisy Chubb

heeey good idea! a dash of cinnamon.. mm! Let us know how it turns out – I would try it but… this is pretty much my only juice tea right now, which is probably why I’m so obsessed with it at the moment haha!

Indigobloom

Oh I plan on trying it out soon! I can’t wait. It’d be amazing if it worked to hide the hibby! eeeeevil sour hibby

Daniel Scott

How big are the banana pieces? Is it possible to pick them out?

Indigobloom

Hmm, they aren’t that big. I’m sure I could pick them out, but being so small it’s hard to differentiate what’s what. Dried banana is pretty dense so I could go by that

Kittenna

Daniel Scott – if you’re allergic, I probably wouldn’t go with this tea. The banana chunks aren’t like in Banana Oolong (i.e., blatantly obvious), if I recall correctly.

Daniel Scott

Okay, thanks Krystaleyn!

Really, it’s a shame; it’s a good cause. But I’ve gotten some people into tea-drinking recently, so perhaps it could be a gift for someone at some point.

Indigobloom

yeah I think it’d make a great gift, esp if they aren’t big on caffeine!

Creamy sweet brewed tea aroma.
Good flavour on the sip. I think there’s some contamination on this mug here with some teas that I have been drinking previously. Flavour seems a bit dilute. I would maybe try infusing at a lower temperature for a bit shorter amount of time.

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml

Sweet creamy aroma.
Vanilla pudding-like sweetness. Creamy flavour. Slight sweet-sticky tangy-ness. Faint floral note.

Second infusion at 5 minutes using 248 ml of water. Pudding sweetness still present. Creaminess and floral notes are fainter than from the first infusion. I’m detecting a note that reminds me of lupini beans leading into the immediate aftertaste.

Very floral taste on each sip. Creamy and sweet. There is a smooth sweetness throughout. Very nice balance of flavours. I left the leaves in while I drank the tea and it was good the whole way through.

This tea was good for 2 more infusions after the first.

I am experimenting with water temperatures with this tea. When infused at 90 degrees Celsius, the bitter undertones are muted. I still get a flavour reminiscent of grapefruit on the lingering aftertaste. The creaminess is able to come to the forefront of the flavour and the mild floral taste is most present at the end of the sip. Very sweet at the end of the sip and on the lingering aftertaste.

Using 2 scoops of dry leaf for ~2 cups of water at 90 degrees Celsius for 4 minutes . Flavour is thin on the beginning of the sip but blooms into a milky floral taste. Aftertaste is thin, toasted and sweet- reminds me of a toasted marshmallow.

drank Ice Cream Cake by DAVIDsTEA

Something about the way this dry tea smells throws me off a little. It’s sweet, but there’s a hint of something that almost smells like alcohol. I’m not entirely certain what it’s from, it might be the stevia. But I have to say, the dry tea looks like an ice cream cake, complete with sprinkles and all.

Once steeped, the smell dies down to a light, sweet vanilla scent. Although I think the sprinkles and freeze-dried ice cream are an innovative addition, they leave a residue on the surface of the tea. Not a big deal to me, but it might turn some people off.

This tea really does taste like liquid ice cream. Obviously not as sweet, but the major flavours are all there. I would compare it most closely to Neapolitan ice cream! The tea is very creamy, as promised. And although I never drink milk in my tea, I’ll add some to see what the effect is. It seems appropriate, given that it’s an ice cream tea… Note: I am lactose intolerant, so I am taking a huge risk here.

Oh my. With milk, this tea is even better, phenomenal even. Creamier, but still just as sweet. I feel like I just took a big bite out of a delicious dessert. Awesome.

Although the dry smell and the way the steeped tea looks are unwelcome surprises, the taste is creamy, rich and just sweet enough for my taste buds. With milk, it’s a goldmine of deliciousness.

I had this last night as well as tonight because my stomach has been acting up a little and I thought this might help to settle it a little. It worked last night, but hasn’t worked tonight so far, so here’s hoping!
I am still working on sipdowns because some of these teas are getting super old. I doubt mint goes bad though.

Truthfully, only picked this one up because I need to TRYALLTHETEAS. It smells like Three Wishes Tea. I think I’m not as big of a fan of rose petals in tea as I thought I was.

Dry tea is perfumey, like rose petals. That’s about it.

The steeped tea smells perfumey, but bearably so. Likewise, that is how it tastes. I was scant on the leaf to avoid feeling like I drank a bottle of perfume, and I think I succeeded. This isn’t bad. For the third time, can’t taste the green tea.

It’s not bad, but I think this will be going into the swap pile. Not my favourite.
