drank S'mores by Della Terra Teas

I selected this as the first tea to try out of my chocolate try me pack. It’s smooth and lovely with no bitterness, but to me the S’mores taste is really taking a back seat to the black tea. That’s not a bad thing; it’s just not what I was hoping for.

Now that I look at my dry mix, I’m starting to think I should have shaken the packet a bit more before scooping out my tea, because it looks like there’s still some obvious settling. Maybe my next attempt with this tea will be more up to my expectations. I must admit that when it comes to flavored teas, I’m partial to ones that are in-your-face. I’m sure my preferences will eventually grow beyond this, but for now I still taunt my flavored teas with: “C’mon, hit me, I dare you” “Is that all you’ve got?!”

Hmmm…perhaps talking smack to my tea is a hint that I should lay off watching ultimate fighting for a while?…nah…

I have loved everything from Della terra tea, and this is no exception! I made it as an iced tea and its a dark murky green. It’s delicious. Very tropical and sweet. Can’t wait to make more.

Discovered I am out of milk after making this. Sad to not have a milky rooibos tonight. It is still yummy on its own.

Yum yum yum yum yum. Della Terra does it again. This was one of 3 rooibos teas I got from Della Terra for Christmas. It’s a perfect spice tea for the holidays.

Sipdown! 813.

This one’s a definite like, so I’m hoping that ‘Creamy Blue’ is similar in the flavouring aspect. It’s all delicious, creamy blueberry, no weird rooibos flavour, and no astringency from the black tea.

Mmmm, a random pick from the tea I have downstairs. Delicious!

Argh, I forgot that this one had black tea in it until I was already downstairs with it with my heart set on having some before bed. Oh well. I’m pretty sleepy, so I should be ok.

Anyways, the creamy blueberry of this tea is really nice. I do wish the base was honeybush instead of rooibos, since I’m getting that teensy bit of scratchiness that I tend to with rooibos, but it’s bearable, especially with such a great flavour. I have to admit though, that I think cream flavour is a wonderful addition to nearly every fruit blend. Someone needs to come out with a whole series of fruit cream honeybush teas. Yeeaaaahhhh :D :D

Um, a bunch of your posts from like a year ago have popped to the top of my dashboard for some reason! It was a little confusing lol.

Kittenna

I was editing a few for various reasons… I hate how it does that :( :(

Dinosara

Figured that was it. Yeah I wish they wouldn’t pop back up every time you edit them.

Josie Jade

Me too! I only keep one note per tea and its so annoying if I want to change something later on!

Kittenna

They never used to behave like that until the last major update, which screwed so much stuff up that never all got fixed. I mean, it’s nice sometimes to be able to pop your note back up to the top for various reasons, but mostly I find it to be a nuisance, yet it’s unfair to be mad at people for editing their notes! I’m hoping that at least if they’re all together, people can maybe skip them a bit more quickly… probably wishful thinking.

I admit that I picked this tea up a bit on a whim. I was curious, but the one blueberry-flavoured rooibos I’ve previously tried was vile, and so there were a few bad associations with it. However, this one has creme. And excellent reviews. And then, I needed to round out a second Try Me pack…. so onto my list it went!

Immediately once I opened the packet, I knew I’d made a good decision – this tea smells like real blueberries. Real, creamy, delicious blueberries! This delicious aroma is maintained post-infusion, and has permeated my room (which is surprising, given that I have a very strongly flavoured Root Beer black tea in an adjacent cup).

The flavour, though milder than I would like, is creamy and does taste like fresh blueberries. No off flavours! The rooibos is really not an issue here at all, which is great! I would perhaps use more tea next time (2-2.5 tsp per cup instead of 1.5) to intensify the flavour, but this is pretty enjoyable as is. Another excellent evening tea, and another hit from Della Terra!

Only issue I have with blueberry teas is hey tend to get a little gross after a few months!

Kittenna

Or ones with rooibos do at least! Hoping this one lasts!

Indigobloom

def ones with rooibos. Also the Blueberry jam from Davids, that one was organic though. I imagine that means it spoiled faster

I’m finishing my sample from my Fall try me pack. The tea has a lovely maple taste, and considering how picky I am with rooibos, I was very surprised at how much I liked it. I’d even go as far as saying that I would reorder it. That’s right it’s a rooibos I’d buy again!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It’s a funny thing how rooibos can either be so extremely good or so very awful. I’ve been experimenting a little more with it lately.

canadianadia

I agree, as a rule I don’t like the woodiness of rooibos, but I don’t dislike them enough to stop trying them altogether. Thankfully sometimes there are teas like this one that reward my willingness to keep trying them. :)

Fjellrev

I’m the same way with rooibos. If it’s good enough to repurchase, that says A LOT about it. :)

This tea totally tastes like maple syrup, but for some reason it also reminds me of those Halloween toffees. The ones with the orange wrappers with the black and yellow images, I think those candies are supposed to taste like molasses though, so I might be alone with this comparison?

I’m quite picky when it comes to rooibos, so I thought I wasn’t going to like this one. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s quite tasty and the woodiness somehow works with the flavor. I have some left, but so far it looks like this one might be going onto my reorder list.

Either my expectations were too high or there is something wrong with my taste buds because I’m not getting the delicious chocolatiness that everyone else is. This smells fantastic both dry and steeped but I’m getting a sour taste when I drink it that is overwhelming everything else. If I take tiny sips and let it linger on just the tip of my tongue I can taste the cacao but the feeling of this tea is very thin and when I drink it like a normal drink I just get sour.

The last swallow had more chocolate than the rest of the drink so perhaps it all just sank to the bottom for me? But whatever it is, I don’t like this tea very much at all.

I believe the exact words out of my mouth at first sip were “Whoa momma!” This is one beauty of a blend. Complex and warming and mmm I just wanted to sink down into it forever and ever. Definitely helped me through a rough day at work!!

Mmmmmm. Just getting pretty much a caramel flavour here, but man is it delicious. Sometimes I wish that there was actually some pineapple here, and then I remember that it seems I’m not actually terribly fond of pineapple in teas, as it turns out, so best it stays this way, haha.

ETA: Nom nom nom, delicious infusion #2. Tea is really hitting the spot for me today.

Since the pineapple is faint here I find it great for mixing to make other “cake” teas. Blueberry cake, chocolate cake, chai cake…

Kittenna

Ahahaha, chai cake. Yeah, the caramelly flavour is wonderful in this tea. Probably the strongest I’ve had! I imagine it would be great mixed with anything needing that boost of sweetness. I don’t find it particularly cakey myself, but it’s quite tasty.

Indigobloom

dang now I wish I asked for this one in my sampler

Kittenna

Well, if you’ll notice on the spreadsheet, there’s a Della Terra order list, ahahahaha….

Indigobloom

lol true!

Although I chose to order this as part of one of my Try Me packs, it never seemed to grab me as a tea I wanted to try until tonight, when I decided it was high time for a bit more progress on my new teas (yeah, the ones I received while here, hahahahaha).

I cannot believe how incredibly delicious this tea smells! Like the sweet, caramelized sugar crust around the edges of a pineapple upside-down cake that I used to break off and eat (and get in trouble over). I didn’t want the rest of the cake, just that part! Anyways, this tea smells like that. Dry and brewed. It’s incredibly strong, and soooo intoxicating!

Unfortunately, the flavour doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. When the tea was still warm, there was a strong flat/cardboardy/stale note right after the initial sip, which then faded into delicious caramelized sugar flavours and perhaps a hint of fruitiness (I really taste no pineapple here, to be honest). I found the stale flavour quite disconcerting – it was almost as if I was just tasting the black base, quite weak and stale, before the flavouring hit my tongue. This phenomenon has happened to me before, and it seems to be unique to flavoured teas (so it makes me think it’s something do with flavouring in some way). Either way, the tea has now cooled, and this flatness no longer makes an appearance, it’s just delicious caramelly goodness.

I’m a bit disappointed that I can’t really pick out any pineapple here, but the strong caramelly flavours will make this a great one for the travel mug (although I only have enough for one serving left!)

interesting!! sad about the pineapple though

Kittenna

It was! Not what I expected, and I probably wouldn’t order it again (gah, I am craving Cashew Turtle SO BADLY right now), but tasty enough!

Indigobloom

do you have any cashew turtle left, or is it at home?

Kittenna

There are a few cups’ worth left, but yeah, I didn’t bring it with me. Tried to bring mostly teas that my mom would enjoy, plus a few flavoured things for me. And then of course I received both a Della Terra and the S&V order while I was here (they so far have all been too flavoured for my mom, sadly, although she didn’t try the Ginger Pear which I specifically wanted her to try, haha).

Indigobloom

There’s still time!! right? :)

This was my hot toddy of the night last night with Fireball whiskey. My nose was so stuffed up that I could only barely smell the cinnamon, whereas my poor wife (who does not enjoy cinnamon) was across the house complaining about the smell XD.

It was…okay. I think the water temp was too low (my wife always leaves it on the lowest possible setting and I never think to check it) because the tea didn’t really taste like anything and there was only a slight aftertaste of cinnamon, not the burn I craved. Of course, my tastebuds are likely screwy as well. This will remain one of my favorite teas, but I don’t think I’ll toddy it again any time soon.

Oh man oh man. So I added a little extra leaf because the last time I had this, it was weak.

That was not the case this time!! It tastes like a liquid Hot Tamale. Yuuuuuum. So good. Sweet cinnamon, I love you madly.

I love this tea. I looooove this tea. And I love this company! I asked if they had ANY of this tea left, because I drank the last of it today. They managed to find 8 oz of it and I bought them all! It’s so good, it’s my cinnamon go to. I love it! It full of cinnamony goodness and love.

I had this a day or two ago, it was my first tea upon returning from the dead, and it was the tea I was most excited about. Boy, did it live up to expectations. This is everything I’ve ever wanted in a cinnamon tea. Everything. The spicy cinnamon, the smooth vanilla…guh. This is why I have tins of Hot Lips, Cinnamon Chai Rooibos, and Cinnmon Heart in the house, because I wanted them all to taste like this tea. I need to try all of the other teas in my samplers quickly so I can order a metric ton of this beauty. This is my dream tea.

Still working on my sample-sized bag of this. It really does remind me of these amazing candy cane cookies one of my coworkers from my JCPenney retail days used to make. (Another coworker called them…“orgasmic” LOL) Not sure that I would use that term to describe this tea, but it’s pretty delish anyways!

I really enjoyed this cuppa. It’s refreshing and kinda fun too. I taste candy cane and a hint of chocolate and vanilla. Wish this was a permanent one but I’m guessing it’s seasonal? Regardless, it was fun and delish! :)

I don’t really like chamomile, but I’m polishing this one off from my touch of herb try me pack. The taste of apple is lovely crisp and sweet, and if it weren’t for the chamomile I’d like this one much more. It’s not bad, I’m glad I had the chance to try it, but it’s just not for me.

Am I really the first person to review this, or did I just get lost with my Steepster search?

This herbal blend was part of my “touch of herb try me pack”. I enjoy the fresh apple aspect of this tea, almost like biting into a crisp apple, the cinnamon taste seems fairly secondary, which is fine by me, as cinnamon is a hit and miss tea ingredient for my taste buds. As for the Chamomile aspect- Ick! I’m not at all a fan. This tea reminds me of those alpine apple cider mixes, but with less sugar and chamomile added to the mix. If I could erase the chamomile from this tea I’d reorder it, but there are so few ingredients in this tea that I would be left with only apples and cinnamon, so really, I’m asking for a bit much. In any case, as it stands, the chamomile aspect means this blend is just not for me. Hopefully some chamomile lovers will try this tea and give it a better rating though.

I’m normally not an Earl Grey fan (too much watery fruit loops, IMO). But I’m trying to be more tolerant, so I opted for this in the vanilla version. I really enjoyed this! The vanilla cut that bergamot taste and was quite pleasant. I’d buy this again.

gmathis

Earl Grey with creme is about the only way I can take it.

KeenTeaThyme

Whew – glad I’m not alone, @gmathis!

Well guess what… I made this in my brand new BREVILLE :D yay Christmas. And even better I got this as a lovely sample with my order and it seemed appropriate to drink it today.
The flavor is very tart with hibiscus. I can also catch hints of ginger, cloves, and cranberries. I think the hibiscus is a bit strong D: but I still enjoyed it :)
I hope all of my steepster buddies had a good holiday!
