I would recommend this tea for someone who enjoys stronger black teas. Interestingly enough I wasn’t the biggest fan of the after taste on this one. It smelled wonderful with a somewhat sweet earthy scent. The taste provided some sweetness but it seemed a bit stronger and more astringent that what I would normally drink. It’s possible I steeped it too long as well. If you’re interested in fermented teas this one is definitely worth a try.

Thank you *Sophia * for this generous sample!
This is the first Fu Tea experience I’ve had, and I must say this was truly unique. The leaves are a forest green and heavily compressed. Its almost like an herbal pu-erh. This assortment of dull green leaves consists of some rather large twigs as well. Also, I did notice the vibrant miniscule golden “flowers” which I found simply amazing. I brewed these in my gaiwan under black tea parameters. I rinsed once to allow the tea to open up. This had a very earthy and humid odor. The taste was incredibly different. It started as a fermented wood flavor, but it finished almost salty and with minerals. I was able to get multiple steepings out of it. The salty flavor became more prominent as the session went on. Once I reached about four steepings the salt flavor was replaced with a dark sweet coffee flavor. This was very interesting! I would not be drinking this everyday, but I will be sharing it with my tea friends to bring something new to the table. Thank you again Sophia for allowing me to try this out!

This is my second time drinking this wonderful tea. The first time I made it the first steep was the best and I did not rinse the tea first. This time I tried giving them a quick rinse before steeping. I’m not sure if that was the cause or if this bunch didn’t have as much golden flower fungus in it but it didn’t taste quite the same. The amazing flavors were still there but they seemed a lot less distinct and more muted. On my second steep of the same leaves I steeped it for longer and I did get a bit more spice type of a flavor but the sweetness was still missing a little bit. This time around I also detect a bit more wet wood type of a scent and flavor. All in all I still quite enjoyed this tea but it wasn’t quite as good as the first time around.

I’m not sure how to describe the amazing flavors in this tea. Has a sweet and almost spicy flavor on the first steep. The second one the spice goes down a bit but the sweetness is still very much there. The scent is absolutely amazing with this tea. I could sit here smelling it forever! Highly recommend this tea!
