The oolong also makes a lovely fresh appearance making the peach not too candy-like. Oh, Lupicia. Why can’t you be on the east coast? whhyyyy???
I’m really getting sick of flavored green tea but this was sent to me as a sample by Lupicia in their newsletter so of course I had to try it…
This is one of the pyramid teabags, and before I read the description I could have sworn this was a melon flavored tea. This smells vaguely of alcohol, but not in a good way, a bit like a cheap wine cooler, me thinks.
As the cup cools down, the smell is dissipating. Now I am getting a bit more peach here but this combination of flavors is not really making me happy. Lupicia has a few flavored green teas I am fond of but this doesn’t seem to be one of them…
Preparation
sometimes I get sick of flavored teas. Then I drink straight teas for a while until I get an overwhelming desire for something fruity or desserty, and then I’m all over the flavors again. Nothing like variety. :)
And I’d totally be interested in a tea called Stinky Melon Wine!
This was a free sample with my latest purchase. I also received a sample of regular Muscat, which I just drank. So, now I’m going to compare the caffeinated version to the decaffeinated version.
The dry leaf aromas are identical: sweet, sugary, grape fruit snacks. The brewed tea, however, is noticeably different. The muscat flavor is much more downplayed and less sweet in the decaf version. It’s still delicious, but not nearly as flavorful or robust.
I might actually enjoy the caffeinated version more even though I’m not a huge grape fan. There’s just something about this subtler flavoring that isn’t quite to my liking. It reminds me that this is a flavored tea, whereas the other one was more natural. If you really enjoy grape, then you’re probably going to want to go with the caffeinated version. But honestly, both are great.
They’re both well-balanced, expertly blended, and very smooth. It’s basically a toss-up, but I’m going to rate the decaf one point lower. Also I agree with what Bonnie said here; the reviews on this tea are lower than they should be. So, don’t be misled. This is a great tea!
Preparation
Wow, this tea simply smells amazing – yummy, creamy caramel candy!!! Though the caramel flavour is not terribly present in the liquor, it’s nonetheless a decent cup of black tea with mild sweetness. Very smooth, and I reckon that milk will work wonders on this tea :)
Preparation
This is usually not my cup of tea but I am having a sore throat and I’ve run out of chamomile… most of the teas I have at home are black tea so I figure that this is the best for me. It really is, I think. With ginger this herbal tea is very warming… it’s gentle and soothing to my throat. I don’t like lemon myrtle but I guess I can’t be too picky under such circumstances…
Preparation
Before I can finish my 1st Book of Tea, I have already started my Book of Tea for Ladies!! :P
I started with this tea because I bought a whole tin of this last summer but I haven’t got the chance to taste it yet. My verdict: there’s nothing like mint to me! It tastes only of grapefruit, which I don’t particularly enjoy in a cup of hot tea. Overall the fruity flavour is quite mild. Am disappointed as I was looking for something more refreshing!
Preparation
This tea is exactly what I hoped it would be. It’s my favorite Japanese Kasugai brand Muscat gummies. Only it’s liquid and not going to rot my teeth. I’ll have to invest in this oolong for health reasons. Mmhmm. Health reasons.
The base of this tea is pretty light. It seems like a light black, or a slightly roasty and autumnal oolong. The flavoring is so right. It’s floral and raisin-y and sweet and nectary. I love this. Love this sooooo much. Muscato is actually my favorite wine, and muscat grapes tie with kyoho grapes for being my favorite. All those things are expensive. This oolong is is cheap by comparison. Cheap, and delicious and so much better for me than gummies. I love gummies. haha I bet this would make an amazing cold brew.
I am so amazed at this tea right now. So. Amazed. When is Lupicia coming to the east coast????
Thank you sooooo much, Azzrian for this delicious sample! When I finally get to ordering from Lupicia, I am getting some of this!
Edit: Steep two and the oolong base is stronger now with weaker muscat flavor. It is still really tasty. This tea shows no signs of being bitter or astringent. I think I’m liking this infusion more than the first because the flavor and tea is more balanced.
Preparation
When I’m in the Bay Area (CA.) I go to their store and they have several muscat’s. I have a decaf Muscat that is very good from them! They really do muscat well!!!
This is an absolutely delicious breakfast tea! I am so glad that it was asked for in a trade because I had not even had time to open a few of my Lupicia teas yet! This is so delicious!
Or is it delicioso? LOL
Regardless, once again Lupicia delivers a solid tea!
Sweet but not too sweet, bold base but not over whelming to the flavor.
I am looking forward to this waking me up in a cozy way! :)
Preparation
I received this along with my Lupicia Tea Magazine and made it almost right away. I found it fruity and slightly sweet. It was light and refreshing as well. If I had more of this I almost certain it would taste amazing cold brewed.
Yummy stuff.

Wait hold on … delete that – I must have got the magazine because I too got this sample and LOVED it … but what the heck did I do with the magazine??? Ugggg {goes seeking!}
Just juicy as juicy can get! The aroma is stronger than the flavor but you know what … I find that of most all teas.
Its a fresh ripe juicy peach off the tree before it is processed into a million sugary corn syrup added items for the store shelves!
The rose is just a very gentle backdrop.
Just amazing. Love it!
I am going to try this chilled and maybe also with sugar both in the hot and cold brew later because yeah well I do happen to also like those sugary items on the store shelves.
:P
Out of Cupboard and into shopping list. This is a staple – my daughter and I both love it – she craves it! I am shocked it lasted this long!
Its especially good cooled down!
Grapey oolong taste – perfection!
Also its my 6 month anniversary here on Steepster! YAY! :)
My tealog informs me that my first tasting notes were written 7 months ago? So I guess I was. Bad memory! :D
Lupicia always has amazing tea.
So fresh, ripe, juicy, NATURAL, love it!
Daughter liked it straight, I actually prefer it with a little sprinkling of sugar.
Been a busy crazy day and this was just what I needed!
Ahhhhhhhh
Interesting!
It seems this has picked up some of the scent from one of my other teas… so the taste/smell are a little muddled.
That said, I can still taste some of the muscatel notes and they are pretty good! drying like a Darjeeling but juicy like a grape.
I just wish the grape note came through a little more.
Thank you for the sample Bonnie!… I could see this one becoming a favourite
Cinnamon cookie? yes please!!!
Thank you so much to Bonnie for the sample!!
I haven’t got much time to write. I am ZONKED. My apologies for the hasty review!!
There isn’t much bakiness here, but I do find a slight shortbread sortof flavour. I think it plays of the pu-erh really well, as does the cinnamon. With some of my agave and milk, this came out to be super tasty. The spice factor really pops with added agave.
Anyhow, I can’t say it’s a dessert tea since it is caffeinated, but it certainly tastes like one!!
Gah, I am so sleepy after going to the gym and then a Tea Guild of Canada meeting. We blended our own tea! SO much fun :P
one more thing. I < 3 pu-erh!
What did you blend?! This must have been what you were talking about. Sad I couldn’t have been there :(
and cookie is for me!!! :P
Kristaleyn: an apricot rooibos and a black/rose tea. The rooibos hasn’t really settled yet, I don’t think. The black was pretty good.
I wish you could have been there!
Tea Guild of Canada? Is that something that only meets in the Toronto area? (That’s where you live, right?)
@Indigobloom – sounds fabulous. Once I’m done my field work/cooking trials (sometime in June) we have got to make some more plans to meet up :D
I got this as a sample from my recent Tumblr winnings! This one is excellent.
I really have enjoyed my two teas from Lupicia and would recommend them wholeheartedly for their flavored teas. This one smells just like this SoBe I used to drink all the time. I actually hate grapefruit, but love grapefruit flavored things. Odd right?
This is super tangy, fruity, tart and just sweet enough to really pull this off. I think that Lupicia’s flavorings are pretty spot on. I really love their tea bags, so that’s really saying something. Amazing tea!
Backlogging:
Cookie comes as a surprise. I was expecting something extremely sweet from this blend. I was pleasantly surprised that someone has blended a seemingly sweet tea without all the added sugars or sweeteners! Cookie, is a tea that has a lovely dark black base, the flavor of a cookie, and reminiscent of Danish Butter Cookies. It is not sugared down or cloying like many cookie blends. Now I am not saying I do not enjoy those sweet blends, I in fact quite enjoy them, but this is a different and very welcome spin on a cookie tea! The aroma is in fact very much of a caramel cookie, however I really do not pick out any caramel in the flavor. I do get a baked goodness though which is quite pleasing. However, adding a dab of sugar in the raw did evoke more of the caramel essence. I liked it with sugar very much. Then I decided I may as well take this full tilt, finished my cup, rinsed my cup, and poured a new one. This time I added milk as suggested by Lupicia Tea. It was nice with milk although I really did not note much of a change rather than a creamy aspect which was pleasing. The flavor however remained the same. My full tilt measure was adding sugar in the raw into the cup of Cookie and milk. I had struck gold. Granted Cookie by Lupicia is a very fine tea unto itself unadulterated and perhaps I am spoiled by my expectations of this tea being like all the others, sweetened. I imagine that it is my own immature palate wanting my cookie to be sweet and I will admit while I do love Danish Butter Cookies, they are often lacking in the sweet department for me. Unfortunately for me, I was totally out of any kind of cookie to dip in this tea and I know had I had any cookies I would have loved this tea much more straight. In fact I find it refreshing that a tea company made a blend that in fact did taste of the characteristics of a cookie without all the added sugars! Kudos to Lupicia for doing something unique and doing it quite well! I am sure there are many people who would love this blend even more than I. A lot of tea lovers do not care for sweetened teas yet may enjoy something as delectable as a cookie blend! Some of the flavors this tea evokes are: Buttery, Baked Flavors, Slightly Malty, Rich, as a matter of fact it even looks like a coffee with cream in the cup when milk is added, with a deep mouthfeel.
I really love the tins Lupicia teas come in, of course they are optional, you can pay slightly less without the tin. I will of course order my refills sans tin but I really think they are quite adorable resembling a silver hockey puck! I was surprised at the size of them when I got mine in the mail. I was expecting something much smaller.
I highly recommend trying this tea. I guarantee that you will not have another cookie quite like this in a tea or otherwise!
Momo — wasn’t that the pet, uh, whatever on, The Last Airbender? Every time I see this title, I want to go hunt down old episodes :)
Never saw the show. Momo is Japanese for peach, I think…
