another from variatea (thanks to memily as well). I had this one tonight and i have to say, while it’s not my favourite, that’s largely due to the distinctly peach taste this one has. I’ve been off of peach for a while now, though it used to be one of my favourite flavours…happens every 5 years or so lol. Still though, a nice cup…for when peach is back in my life haha

The website recommended having this iced and so I did. The result? A tea that tastes like a fruity Popsicle. The peach is strong but complimented by a bit of orange citrus flavor. It is a bit like watered down juice (a flavor one might expect from a Popsicle). It is nice though not something I need to have around in. Any sort of quantity. Still, I could see this being pleasant in the summertime so thank you Memily for sharing

Yixing teapot. Tea poured into ceramic balancing pot when brewed.

Washed at boiling.

1st infusion (2 mins at 90C)
Beautiful meadow-like aroma but tasted overbrewed. Sharp tannins on the finish.

2nd infusion (3 mins at 90C)
Flattened out the tannins but also erased the flavour. Hints of vegetal notes with an underlay of nuttiness.

3rd infusion (10 mins at 75C)
I think this was coloured water.

I’m sorry, I wanted to like this but I can’t get the brew right and I’ve certainly had better oolongs.

Flavors: Nutty, Vegetal

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 2 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 8 OZ / 250 ML

Hmm.

Trying to decide how I feel about this one.

First try is cold brewed. The nose is almost all coconut, but that sunscreen-y kinda coconut. Awkward approach.

The flavour still has that sunscreen-y essence to it, but also enough tangy berry/citrus. The green isn’t too present, but that’s a plus for me.

I’ll sit my rating here for now and see what the future brings for us, Green Tang.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

So this is definitely a BEAUTIFUL portable tea carrier, yes. But it only carries a small amount of tea! I guess it’s not much more than my timolino. But carrying around such a bulky thing when I can clearly (zing) see how much liquid is in there and it’s not a lot is a bit of a bummer. BUT seeing the tea in there is really pretty! But also straining leaves out if you need to is kinda annoying. Buuuuuuuuut it’s awesome for cold press.

I’m so torn. I think it’s everything I want? Or it would be if it held a bit more liquid. I’m just getting into this when I run out of tea.

EDIT: and with my second steeping ever, a jolt to the bottle has smashed the internal glass. Ouch. Changing my rating. Bit heartbroken!

And with the last glass from the 2L jug, Sunny’s all out! I can’t believe I’m under 50. I’m a girl on a mission. Nothing can stop me. I can’t even stop myself.

Sunny was great, definitely best iced or cold brewed, sweet and fruity and super enjoyable. But I’m hesitant to order from More Tea again, because I got three blends from them (as well as the beautiful but delicate glass tea bottle) and Sunny was the only one I liked—the other two blends were blerg. More Tea don’t sell samples so without being able to try before I buy, I don’t think I’ll be back. They didn’t even respond to my mail asking about samples. Sigh.

With summer being so close and the days getting warmer, I made up a big 2L jug of this to cold brew a couple of days ago, and in one afternoon have almost completely polished it off! Yum. Yes. Fruity happy summer vibes.

Hah… In my feed, this note is between two notes in which people complain about it being freezing cold. :P

Ah, you get a black flavoured blend and you’ll probably be onto a winner with me. Yup.

I left this in the fridge since 3pm yesterday, so we’re talking accidentally around 28hrs of steeping time, but due to the wonderment of cold brewing it isn’t bitter at all. It’s delicious. Not a great deal of the flavour coming through but just enough to be subtle, refreshing and delicious. Just what I needed after a power-ride up the hill to home!

Fine for green jasmine tea, which I’m not fussed on. Bad choice of samples for me, More Tea! Hahaha. Oh well, at least it’s sipped down now.

Oh… hm. This isn’t what I was hoping it would be—the description made it sound a lot more flavourful, all I’m getting is lemongrass, cinnamon and cardamom. Which isn’t turning me on. Hm. Let me try a shorter steeping time next time, this one went for around 8mins.

drank Oolong Iron Goddess by More Tea

I’ve made a grave mistake this morning. Weekend work means early(ier) shifts than I’m used to, which means mornings are more of a struggle, which means I left my deliciously aeropress’d keep cup of coffee on my kitchen bench this morning.

Despair. Woe. Yes, I’m a filthy coffee drinker in the mornings. You might say I’m bidrinkual. Here’s how it works, I NEED coffee in the morning, I LOVE tea at all times.

I picked the OG from the teas I’m carrying around with me because I remembered it said stuff about being ENERGISING and I was like I NEED THIS because as much as I love morning coffee I will not lower myself to drink instant crap. Ahhh I’m so miserable hahaha. So OG it is today. My first steep was for 2mins and I’m just getting a cup of green tea. Damnit. Damnit. This is not what I want right now. ENERGISE ME

Time for my second tea from the April Mr Earl box, and this one’s an oolong! Hooray! How can I like oolongs so much yet be unfazed by most greens? I’m a little baffled.

ANYWAY

this is very nice. First steep water was probably a bit cold because I did it in a mug at work instead of my timolino (too hot, risks of tinniness) and the water cooled super quickly in the mug. Second steep was from hot water stored in the timolino for double the time. Third steep for around 12mins. All good. Good times. Yes nice. Not blowing my mind but very nice.

Preparation
170 °F / 76 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
Courtney

Do you prefer green or roasted oolongs?

Memily

Haha I’m too much of a detail novice to even know the answer to this. I don’t know. I’ve just noticed that I like oolongs! Is it blindingly obvious what’s green vs what’s roasted?

Courtney

Haha, well in my somewhat limited experience with oolongs, thus far green oolongs brew up to a very light colour – similar to green tea, and roasted oolongs brew up darker, closer to a black tea. :)

Memily

Oh, I’m honestly not sure if I’ve even tried any roasted oolongs! But now I’m very curious.

Courtney

Hehe. I prefer them the roasted thus far, but I also prefer black tea over green. :)

teashirtsau

Generally the roasted ones are from China (eg Tie Kuan Yin) while the green ones tend to be Taiwanese. I prefer green myself.
