hmmmm today this is NOT a good cup of tea. not sure what happened but i am so not feeling this today. I kept looking into my cup trying to figure out where my beloved 49 went…

another cup this morning, mostly i wanted to be able to compare the assam from bellocq against one of my “staples” It’s nice to not only be able to revisit a favourite but not try to compare against a memory :) I am still a fan of this…there’s something wonderful about how smooth this tea is. Someday maybe a tea will replace it,but so far, it remains a staple :)

Terri HarpLady

I still have some of this one, it really is nice!

TastyBrew

My (step)father in law just made a trip to the downtown pdx shop and picked me up some more of this. He doesn’t even like tea, but worked at Tazo with Steve so he always hooks me up. :-)

Sil

oh that’s awesome!

i also had this tea today. friends came over tonight so now i’m scrambling to get ready for tomorrow. it feels like friday today. This was still delicious as i remember :)

Terri HarpLady

I think I’m getting closer to a sipdown on this one :)

there’s a certain freedom that comes from having cleaned up your cupboard and made it under 200 without ordering anymore. I totally took a break today from worrying about old teas or sipdowns. I will still try to get my one in when i get home tonight, but this morning’s teas were all about enjoying teas. I picked this one, since it’s out of the box of teas i’m not allowed to open until there is more room in my cupboard. It’s been a while since i’ve had this one and man it is STILL delicious. I am loving it!

Terri HarpLady

Yup! I drank this one on the weekend, & it’s still got it!

TeaLady441

I keep thinking I’ll have to order this some time. The sample was so good!

Sil

Cavo – we can do a joint order sometimes via Sharon :)

Morning tea today…so delicious! I’ve been hoarding the bag i split with terri but since i had a small sample from her that came in the travelling tea bag, i splurged by drinking from that sample. I still really enjoy this assam!

Oh man….this week was crazy. So i treated myself yesterday to a couple of teas that i love dearly but have been saving and holding off on until i could sipdown my stash a little more. Terri and i jointly purchased more of this one and i am SO GLAD that i did. it will for sure be one of my staples in my cupboard until i someday find another tea to replace it…which isn’t likely.

Terri HarpLady

Another tea to replace it? Yeah, right! :)

Sil

it could happen…..doubtful…

Sil

i figure even if i find a tea that’s smiliar or close, it won’t replace…it will just join it haha

Terri HarpLady

That’s the spirit!

SIPDOWN! Yeah that’s right. No hoarding! So i had this today while getting ready for work, something i normally don’t indulge in. Lookingforward to June when i can pick up more of this as it’s a really nice assam. Of course that depends on whether or not I can get my cupboard to amanageable state by June as well. I’ve got something waiting for me at the post office today AND if my tea mule is at work today, that’s my three orders from May that have arrived. Not to mention the tea with Raritea and Kittenna lol Ah well…at least i’m sort of hovering at the 200 mark (227 to be exact at the moment). We have a release weekend on saturday so i’m sure i’ll be drinking plenty of tea from 9pm until 3am. yeah that’s right… party at my place! woot woot!

Anyway, i digress…if you like assams, this tea is for sure worth picking up and trying :) Thanks again terri!

Damn you Terri! No orders until June! WANT! MOAR! NAO!

Holy hannibel, i had this in the morning and let me tell you, i have a single normal person cup’s worth left and it might just be hoarded. Because i am trying to commit to no tea orders until June. It’s going to be hard because i have been thinking about this tea most of today. This is a great assam! mmmmm i have no words beyond “now accepting donations to get me through the month of may” lol I kid! but seriously? This has me wanting to try many more Steven smith teas since this was my first taste of their teas.

Nicole

Augh! Not another tea vendor!

Sil

Nicole..yes…i know the sororiteasisters have mentioned steven smith before, or at least one of them has but this was my first time trying one. And this is a delicious assam! and reasonably priced imo 5.50 for 2oz?

Nicole

I looked at the site. Bookmarked for payday…

Sil

jealous! lol i now have to wait until june. must resist all tea sales. must go a whole month without ordering lol

TastyBrew

He has a shop here in Portland and i’m planning on making a run there pretty soon to grab a variety of flavors and then send some samples to Terri. I’ll put you on the list too Sil if you want. I have several bagged varieties already since they sell those in the grocery store here, but I want to hit the shop since there are several they don’t sell at the grocery store.

Sil

whimper you need to find teas in my cupboard you want lol I can’t even explain why this particular tea makes me so happy. Lol

Terri HarpLady

Yay TastyBrew! Definitely check out my cupboard too, I want to send you a fun-box! :D
Sil – it makes you happy because it is awesome!

Sil

Tasty….beware the fun boxes from Terri!

Hallieod

Seconding *Nicole*’s Augh! That website looks SO tempting, but it’s another that doesn’t
spell out its international shipping policies, so double augh. But your review…!!

Sil

Hallie – if I make a purchase (in June) remind me and I can send you some to try :)

Hallieod

Thanks! Or if I cave before June, I’ll send you a care package to keep you going. :)

Sil

You may also be able to poke someone who has this and see if they’d b killing to do a mini swap with you in case international shipping is a bust. I can’t even remember what it was when I was looking at it.

Hallieod

Hah, don’t think I need this tea enough to do any killing to get it. :)

Terri HarpLady

LOL! Hallie, I’d be glad to share…

Terri HarpLady

And you won’t have to ‘kill’ me to get me to do it :)

TastyBrew

I can share too. I’m a pushover, literally, if you just push me over I’ll share some. No killing necessary.

Hallieod

I’m so relieved, Terri & TastyBrew – I just find that killing doesn’t put one in the best frame of mind for enjoying a fine tea, y’know? :P

Seriously, thank you both! I got an amazingly quick response from Alex at Smith Teas and am going to play with the cart to see what shipping is like. If it’s too bad, I’ll see what I might have to offer in return for this Assam-of-Happiness!

Sil

Ugh auto correct killing = willing and that was totally a poke at Terri and tastybrew since I know they’re awesome for things like that :)

Hallieod

They were totally awesome, especially as neither of them knew me at all! But Alex was very helpful and I [blushes] placed an order. Small, really!

Sil

Awesome! Can’t wait to see your reviews :)

Terri HarpLady

Yeah! Makes me want to fall off the wagon & order something! :D

TeaLady441

Lol – I love the comments. :)

Also, I guess I’d better bookmark this tea for later…

TastyBrew

I’ll be hitting the shop soon, any special requests? Speak now or forever hold your peace… Or at least until next time I go. Or the next. Or the one after that.

Sil

no need for special purchases for me but would love to try “bonbon” (herbal) or no. 9 (black) if those happen to be ones you’re picking up. though i suspect that in june i may just try picking up the variety packs. TOO MANY CHOICES!

Terri HarpLady

All of those black teas look interesting to me :)
Of course, I’ll be willing to try anything! So far I’ve had #49 & #55. The Chai sounds interesting!

Hallieod

Aaah, I’m so weak! (Also so far behind in tasting notes it’s not funny.) But the force of tea-pushing is strong in you, Sil!

Many kind people have sent me sample, but I can’t remember exactly who sent this sachet of Kandy. Whoever you are, thank you! This brewed up nice and strong, with bright floral notes and astringency. It reminds me of the sun tea my mom used to make. I bet it’d kick ass with a little honey and lemon.

Good cup, would drink again—though I would probably not order it for myself.

Nice and citrusy. Lots of chamomile, of course, but there is some other stuff going on here. a nice blend for relaxing.

A very balanced Earl Grey. Soothing, elegant, ideal for sipping and enjoying slowly while relaxing. Almost no bitterness and very light on the bergamot.

Thanks for the sample, Sara!

This one came in a nice sachet and was a decent cup of tea. Slightly astringent, brown in color with mild flavors of the breakfast tray: buttered toast and a tiny bouquet of wildflowers. I wouldn’t buy it, just because there are so many other darjeelings out there I love more (I miss the big floral, big orange-squash flavors), but it hits the spot well enough.

I liked that the steeping instructions on the box literally says to play some opera in the background. I played “the Diva dance” from the fifth element because that totally counts.

I like it. dark tea without the bitterness, nor an overwhelming taste of bergamot like so many earl grey teas have. very smooth and easy to drink. love it. will definitely try with some honey next time.
I steeped it to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit and steeped for 3 minutes rather than the 5 minutes recommended on the box and it tasted perfect for me. I would definitely drink this tea again. :)

Having another cup of this today … so nice. I am really glad that I decided to pick this tea up the last time I was at Steven Smith’s tea shop. It is sweet, grape-y with notes of currant, savory herbs and a touch of deep oaky flavor … very nice… relaxing to sip

I really like this.

I got this tea during my last visit to Steven Smith’s tea shop, I know that these teas that he scents in aging barrels are of limited quantity, so I grabbed one.

I’m glad I did … this is remarkable. It tastes like Ceylon tea, but, the flavors of the wine are also present, it’s beautifully subtle, but at the same time, so very wine-like. It’s really beautiful.

I was planning on writing a full-length review on this one today for the SororiTea Sisters blog, but I think I need to spend more time with it before I do that.

Morning Light for this Sunday morning. I love how convenient tea bags are and this is an excellent sachet tea bag. Makes it easy for me to enjoy tea at church. Sad to see this sample gone. Thank you again, LiberTEAS for sharing.

Glad you liked this one!

This is an amazing malty and rich black tea. I love how smooth it is. It’s also very convenient because it’s in a sachet. I took it to my small group gathering this evening and steeped it 3 times. All three were absolutely delicious. Gonna try for a 4th in the morning :) Thank you so much for sharing this LiberTEAS!

Been a really busy morning and early afternoon so far, this is my first cup of tea! I chose it because I wanted something fast and easy … and since this is a sacheted tea, it is definitely easy. While that is the one “con” as far as this tea goes (Obviously, I’d rather it be loose leaf), because it’s one of those silky sachets and not a paper tea bag, I don’t taste paper (a plus!) … and really, this is so good. I love it.
