Sipdown! 94/365

Curious. My last tasting note referenced a sipdown, but here we are… finishing off the last of a package… maybe someone gave me a bit more? Anyways, as chance would have it, I also ended up doing the comparison I referenced in my last tasting note about it, which is comparing this tea against Island Coconut, a blend I received as part of an Amoda subscription box.

The teas are quite similar, greens with toasted coconut flavour. This one has some astringency that I didn’t find in the other blend, but I’m not entirely sure it’s a fair comparison since this is the bottom of the bag, and I think I overleafed (I just wanted to finish it). There’s nothing special with either tea though. They’re just generic greens with coconut, which, if you’re in the mood for it, is fantastic, but if you’re not, is very boring.

Sipdown! Thanks to Raritea for a sample of this one.

This basically tastes like a standard coconut green. So fairly tasty, but not really a tea I’d go for too often. However, I think it would be great cold-brewed and sweetened. Since it tastes much like the coconut green I just got in my Amoda tea box, I think I’ll have to try it with that one soon!

Sipdown! Thanks to Raritea for a sample of this one.

I like this rooibos! It tastes very much like a blueberry muffin, light on the blueberry but with a tasty baked goods flavour and little rooibos. I haven’t had a lot of luck with blueberry-flavoured rooibos in the past, so it’s nice to have one that really does work. That said, I think I prefer the blueberry/black tea/rooibos blend from Della Terra.

ETA: Second infusion was also pretty tasty, and the infuser smelled like there was potential for a third, but I opted for a new tea instead :D

Another one from SIL – thanks!
This is cake-E, Bake-E, Crusty, Lusty, Croissant-E!
Out of ALL of that you only saw the word lusty, didn’t you?
LOL

Anyhow…this has a deep blueberry flavor in addition to it being muffin-like, which is GOOD because it’s all part of the muffin, right? YUM!

This is a fairly intensely flavored Rooibos and the Rooibos itself even taste deeper than most Rooibos’s – or should I say Rooibos-EYE? Not real sure…perhaps Rooibos is like Deer – it’s Deer – if there is one or 100 of them – is it the same for Rooibos? Or is more than one Rooibos known as Rooibos’s? LOL – teehee! Just jabbering!

This is a nice tisane, tho! Clever! I like it!

SIPDOWN! loving getting some of these off my list of easy sipdowns. I figured if i was stuck with no power, boiling water in the hallway, i might as well get some of my smaller sizes taken care of :) once again, lemoney rooibos blend. lacking in both ginger and pineapple imo.

I’m going to have to go with Rarietea on this one – lemon? yes. ginger? yes. pineapple? uh not so much. Still it was a decent cup to drink tonight so no real complaints here. Would i repurchase? likely not but only because other companies i order from more often, offer similar teas.

Tried this one at the festival again just in case…yeah i’m still not a huge fan. Hoping the other couple teas i picked up will be more enjoyable. there’s just something about this one that says NOPE….slightly artificial and not all that tasty.

sipdown! i tried this as a cold brew and um no thanks. While it was a bit better than the double berry from della terra, this also took on a weird almost floral quality to it and the cold didn’t help to bring out the guava. ah well. was good to at least try it.

This one is a little disappointing. I’d really hoped for more out of this. I steeped it in water that was a little under boiling to prevent the astringency that raritea mentioned. There is guava taste to this but it’s more in the aroma than in the taste of the tea. I almost think this might have been better as a green tea. I’ve tossed the rest into a cold brew to see how that fares tomorrow.

Thanks to Raritea and Sil for this sample!!
It’s… well it’s certainly interesting. I get where the muffin part comes in, though I don’t feel its unique. Something about this profile is annoyingly familiar! Where do I know this taste from??? It’s bakey and sweet, and even a little savoury. I feel like there is salt in there, like you would get in an actual muffin. Still, I know this taste… and it’s gonna drive me nuts. Le sighs…
Anyhow, I noticed a hint of blueberry. And by hint I mean very faint! In fact, I’m sure I wouldn’t have pinpointed it if I hadn’t seen the tasting note. It is definitely there, once you know to look for it of course.
Overall, a comforting cup, but not something I’d be willing to keep in my cupboard.

SIPDOWN!

I rather enjoyed this one, though the after taste does leave my mouth a little dry. I really like the way that the tiramisu flavour has been captured. Overall this is something i would for sure drink again, though it doesn’t need to be a permanent re-stock. :)

im a fan of this one, though i likely shouldn’t be today since lack of food today will likely lend itself to caffeine hitting me pretty hard lol. I really want to add just a bit of cream to this to really through the flavours together. I’m not getting the spiciness that kittenna did but i AM getting that espresso flavour that is blending really nicely with the black base. I think i steeped this one a little longer than 3 mins by accident and still there’s no bitterness or astringency so that’s a positive.

I think this could be one of those teas that I have in my cupboard every so often when i need a more coffee like creamy experience.

SIPDOWN! mwahahaha my cupboard goes down, kittenna’s goes up lol Just enough in the bag Rarietea and i split to have a cup for me and a cup for kittenna. Although i reaaaaallly don’t like coconut all that much in teas, we tried this one at the tea festival and it wasn’t too bad. So it made it’s way into our mini purchase since raritea looooveeeesss the coconut!

Now that i’m having it at home, it’s not tooo bad. I am certainly good with this one cup but only because i’m drinking a tea that tastes like tanning lotion smells like. delicious! but oddly weird as well :)

Kittenna

Awwww thanks! :P

ashmanra

Sil: what would you give for each of us to send tea to Kittenna? :D

ashmanra

Oh, sorry! It is Dinosara we need to be sending tea to, isn’t it? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Kittenna

Oh whew!!

Sil

LOL ashmanra

Dinosara

Don’t even think about it! :D

Split purchase with raritea from the toronto tea festival. This is supposed to be a blueberry muffin but i think it’s more muffin than blueberry. That being said, the rooibos in this makes for a pretty decent baked muffin kind of tea. Just wish it was a WEEEEEEEEE little bit more blueberry.

mmmmmmmmmm muffins! wheee!

Hmm, mix with a touch of Blueberry Creme from Della Terra? Although you prob don’t have that, and I’m not giving mine up, haha.

Sweet coconut. Very full flavour. Complements sencha green tea flavour very well. Slight fruity tone.

Second infusion is quite good with the green tea flavour being more apparent and coconut moving to the background but still present.

it’s operation sipdown time! i hope…

Kittenna

Op, another T by Daniel that I missed out on :P (I could have sworn you guys offered them all to me, but maybe you just made me sniff them all. I was pretty distracted!)

Sil

i thought we gave you this one…i remember telling raritea to pull it from my bag

Kittenna

Yep, I thought so too, but I went through the pile of teas from you guys that evening and wrote everything down, and I only had 2 teas from T by Daniel, Trina’s Tiramisu, and Wild Cherry :)

Sil

Wild cherry is china tea, not T by Daniel :) I’m sure i’ll have more to kick your way just poke me when i post a review heh

Kittenna

Yeah, as soon as I said that I was thinking that I had already seen Raritea review all five, and that wasn’t one of them. Guess I somehow ended up with only the one T by Daniel sample!

Indigobloom

I don’t recall seeing this one either. Must have been when Kittenna and I were swapping other tea!

Sil

No we passed all 5 around. Maybe we gave Sharon too many of the same tea lol

Sipdown! Thanks to Marie and Sil for giving up a cup of this one :D

I can’t even begin to explain how incredibly delicious this one smells. Sooooo divine. Like… cheesecakey, sweet, peppery, chocolatey… yum! I was trying to think of what the aroma reminded me of, and it’s actually reminiscent of Della Terra’s Chili Chocolate Truffle. However, the flavour is not the same as that tea. There’s a dark background note, kind of like coffee, with a sweetness and delicious creaminess, topped off with a bit of spice. The spice is a bit odd to be in a tiramisu blend, IMO, but oh well. I think the flavour wouldn’t be as good without it. I do think that this blend is one that smells better than it tastes, however the flavour is pretty good. I’m not the biggest fan of spiciness, so I don’t think I’d reach for this tea frequently, but I would definitely seek it out if the mood struck! I’m curious as to how this would taste sweetened…

[Uh, perhaps I should read what’s in tiramisu… espresso! Which explains the coffee note! Go me, for picking up on a flavour! Also – the black base is pretty decent here. Not really any astringency; I think what I am feeling is just the spiciness.]

Thanks for the sample, girls!

ETA: A re-steep in half the water turned out a less flavourful version of the above, with pretty much no spiciness. Reasonably tasty. I do like this blend!

This tea has a definite muffin-like note in the aroma.

The fresh muffin aroma transfers to the flavour. Fairly authentic blueberry flavour (especially near the end of the sip) in the background but the baked muffin taste overpowers it. Smooth flavour that blends well with the rooibos base.

Kittenna

Hee hee! I’m throwing this on the list to sample if either of you feels like tossing a cup my way. :)

aha! maybe I should brew some of this up after my latest blueberry disaster..

From the moment you unseal the package, you can smell that this is going to be a delicous, pastry aroma, black T infusion. It goes great with a slice of hot apple pie. Perfect for a warm night on the patio.
