The Republic of Tea

I like the aroma a lot. The almond mixes interestingly well with the sweet vanilla smell…but at the end I can’t help but feel disappointed. There’s a little flavor from each of the elements in there; a little black tea, a little vanilla, a little almond – but nothing powerful enough to make a compelling mouthful. It just comes off as a little on the bland side. Maybe more tea, 2 bags instead of one? Maybe a longer steep time? I’m not sure, I’ll have to keep working with this one.

The leaves are ground very finely and the nose has almond and lots of vanilla, so much so that I can almost taste how sweet it is. Nice golden brown liquor (before a splash of milk). The tea however, is mostly dominated by almond flavor with just some sugary vanilla tones peeking their way into the sip. It comes on strong with the almond but finishes with the touch of vanilla. Probably could have steeped longer, it’s a little weak in the knees right now and could use more power behind it. Could also be because it comes in tea bags (unfortunately I didn’t realize this when i bought it). Maybe multiple tea bags in one cup would do the trick?

I need to find a better to-go tea. One that doesn’t have almonds.

Almond-flavored tea always sounds better than it tastes for me. This particular one isn’t bad, especially when paired with the vanilla Kashi cereal I had right before, but almond tea just ain’t my thang.

Not sure why I said it tasted like white last time. This is definitely green and has an earthy flavor. Nice, but basic. This is the last of my stash and I doubt I’ll be replacing it.

Steeped 2 minutes. Similar to a white tea in its light flavoring.

Good Green Tea. Still prefer the traditional Matcha. This particular tea is bagged, which is great for traveling.

Down to my second-to-last bag of this! I’m going to have to restock. My tea cabinet can’t be without this staple.

This tea has been a staple in my cabinet for many years—I can’t even count how many canisters I’ve bought since I first tried it! It’s a nice subtle berry tea (sometimes the red berries have a “bright” taste but the blackberry really blends well with the black tea)—perfect for morning!

A good alternative to standard black tea.

Smells like gummy bears. A really interesting tea. I’m looking forward to trying this with sugar or iced.

Even with no decaf-ing, and a 3 min steep at 195F, I’m still not thrilled. Less astringent this time, but it’s just very bland for a flavored black tea.

30 second decaffeination rinse. First sip way more astringent than I expected. Added a little half & half and 1 packet of stevia, still not thrilled. I’m going to try again tomorrow morning and see how the flavor is with no decaf time, and a 3 minute steep.

Disappointingly boring. The leaves have a soothing fragrance, so I was looking forward to a nice cup. However it simply tastes like a bland black tea.

This is the tea that got me into drinking tea. It is my favorite selection in the Republic of Tea brand.
