I found it rather cute that I could find Timmies tea on this site and in fact I am happy I did. I think this tea is good. It’s one of those price/value deals, and TH definitely delivers. I loved this tea ever since it appeared on their menu (and that would be quite a long time ago already, none of us are getting younger) and it is definitely superior to their bagged tea.
Yea it’s not anything fancy, but its an honest cuppa and I love it. In fact I would say that as much as Timmies’ coffee is good, so is this tea. Neither are an epitome of luxury but both are true simple man beverages and sometimes simple is just what you need.
P.S.: Steep Time and Water Temp fields actually made me wonder what values TH uses. Probably something scientific and backed up by years of research and marketing.
I’ve been drinking a lot of this lately. Convenience and a lack of kettle options at work means I’ll do anything for caffeine. It’s a long walk to work from the train as well (most of my thermos’s at home leak and I’ve yet to check out Evol Ving Ness’s Canadian Tire tip)
Anyhow. The boyfriend bought me a tea awhile back, and it was awful. It tasted really off, and not in a fake sugar kinda way. The tea tag was orange pekoe, so it wasn’t earl grey – I’m allergic.
It made me feel physically ill and I had to throw it out. Made me sad as we were at a vending event, the venue was freezing… I needed the warmth!
Paired with a sun dried tomatoe/cream cheese bagel, this would have been an awesome combination! but the girl must have put Splenda in the cup because it tasted really off. I remember seeing her reach for a package, and thinking that better not be for me! well it was *sighs
I guess she heard me wrong. Too bad, it’s been awhile since I looked forward to the simplicity of a Tims tea!
I would have asked if she put anything in it. But I am also the person that has made them remake my tea more than once since I am paying good money for hot water (don’t get me started on paying that much more for a bigger cup and hot water when I am only getting one tea bag. ARGH) and a tea bag. If I want regular with milk then that’s what I expect to get. I don’t see how they can screw it up but 9 times out of 10 they do.
As an aside how was the bagel?
It’s true. They have an odd system for trying to move the line faster, calling out to find out people’s orders before they reach the front of the line… but that means people are often yelling. The girl asking for orders had a very controversial attitude as well, makes me wonder if she was messed up intentionally because I refused to scream to be heard and waited til I was at the front.
and I so agree about the price difference! I remember a day when they were all the same price. I think it was a dollar back then!
The bagel was amazing. Not sure about the cheese that was caked on but the sundried part kinda made me drool :)
I’ve had this far too often lately. Not that I have anything against Tims, for what they offer… but what I REALLY want is a looseleaf tea of my choosing, not this bagged concoction.
The last week or so, looseleaf tea has taken a back seat because of my hectic schedule and troubles with Teaopia. I miss it.
Sunshine Mate seems to taste ok with our tepid water. Maybe I can make some of that…
a little bitter yet overly sweet. Not my fave, since my black tea obsession really kicked in. Oh well, no time for filling/steeping a bag at work so this will have to do! milk and sugar help :)
is anyone else going to the Art of Tea festival in Toronto on the 18th? there is a half price coupon at buytopia: http://onespout.com/deal/view/182108
My early morning git-up-n-go juice. Hit the drive-thru and get an XL with 2 milk and 2 sugar and I am good. Nothing outstanding, but definitely good. I tend to drink it with the bag in…taking the bag out while driving can be a dangerous thing to do!
Preparation
Spent the evening with my inlaws in the land of red rose orange pekoe and Tim Hortons’ tea gift packs. Kinda felt like I was cheating on DavidsTea! With a cheap imitation >.>
But for all that, it wasn’t terrible. Not nearly as good as DavidsTea’s Baked Apple, though!
Preparation
When I was in high school, I actually worked at Tim Hortons for almost a year. I wasn’t a tea- or coffee-drinker at the time, but I would make an extra-large hot chocolate almost every shift. Two squirts of cream and a peppermint tea bag before pouring the hot chocolate made a divine drink.
To me, Tim’s peppermint will always be the addition to a rich cup of hot chocolate. On its own, as I had it today, it’s just underwhelming. Not quite enough of anything to be satisfying, but good in a pinch to deal with headache or tummy troubles.
Preparation
I wondered if Tim Hortons tea was on Steepster, and I find it a bit funny that it is.
It’s a bit busy at work tonight which means I can’t slip to the back to make the tea I bring along. But, it also means people offer to bring me things. I requested tea and this is what I got. Until recently, I drank a fair amount of this as Tim Hortons are so pervasive around campus and near work.
It’s definitely not as fun as choosing the flavour of specialty tea I want and brewing it in my pretty glass, but there is something to be said for the experience of Tim Hortons. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I can see why people are hooked on buying one every morning. I would probably not drink this tea otherwise, but there’s something about having it handed to you in that Christmasy paper cup. It feels kind of naughty and hyper-convenient. It’s like soft drinks; I don’t like them normally but out of a McDonalds cup they feel trashy and satisfying.
Anyway, this tea is fine. Not remarkable in any way but it’s fine and kind of comforting when heading to class or at work. I take it with only one milk so it’s actually kind of strong but never bitter (unless they accidentally give me coffee, which happens too often). For me it’s also part of the experience of heading home to the suburbs where there are even more Tim Hortons and it’s common practice to drive through several times per day.
I’m quite fond of this tea in the same way that, when no one is looking, I’m fond of Mcdonald’s fries. This is to say that I don’t think it’s a good tea, but I secretly find it delicious. I have it whenever I’m visiting my parents who frequently (and perhaps obsessively) drink Tim Horton’s coffee.
It doesn’t really have an ‘authentic’ Earl Grey taste, but with a little milk and sugar it tastes like Kellogg’s Froot Loops.
Preparation
I must admit, Chai tea’s are not my favorite of all but this morning I was by Timmy H’s and said WHY NOT, live dangerously! This tea tasted like.. PASSION in a cup, I don’t know why I say passion, but that was the first word that came to mind when I took a sip. Why chai’s are not my cup of tea usually, is because they usually overload them with spices that I don’t really like and it just tastes like an over exasperation of flavor that by the end of the cuppa, I get bored and fed up with. This one was different, it took one flavor and stuck with it. and it wasn’t cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom and pepper it was beyond that. They used a licorice based flavor and stuck with it the whole way through while combining it softly with nutmeg and cinnemon. I was impressed once again by timmy’s!
Licorice is an acquired taste though, I used to dislike it horribly in tea, but then I started enjoying it as candy ( black licorice ) and then when I drank it in tea, I learnt to appreceate the nice bold flavors. hahaha thanks I thought it was clever and felt my subconcious was telling my to put it somewhere in the tealog :D
A VERY OCTOBERISH TEA – This tea is unique because it has a very halloween flavor too it ( gotta try it when that time comes around ) I did drink it hot ( even though it was a million degrees outside) it was still refreshing because I’m freezing with the air conditioning inside so it evens out. The Pumpkin of this tea is like absorbed by the Rooibos and its very interesting. It has a spice to it as well ( maybe cinnemon)
I enjoyed it a lot, nothing less to expect from tim hortons, although I don’t drink coffee that often ( I did cave in to an ice capp earlier) because my mommy says it will stunt my growth and I’m still a growing boy ( 6ft 1) anyway I’m ranting.
This tea was awesome, will have again when I’m near timmy’s again! ( which might be soon because its walking distance from my house)
I’d like to thank all the steepsters/steepsterettes for the kind birthday wishes :) you rock!
Probably one of my favourite teas. I bought up three boxes of it at the end of October, but am quickly running out. Stash Pumpkin Spice Tea is good, but just not the same. I’ll make sure to stock up this year when it returns to Timmies!
Preparation
Backlogging from earlier this weekend…
So a road trip isn’t a road trip (at least in Canada) without Timmy’s. But what to do when your tummy is a little unsettled and you don’t feel up for crazy-caffeinated coffee or even their usually decent bagged chai tea? Pepermint tea!
Now I have to say, this was an experiment for me. I’ve had a couple bad experiences with peppermint tea in the past causing tummy-upset but I know that it’s actually supposed to be good for your stomach so I decided to give it another go.
This is the second time recently that I’ve given a “don’t like it” tea another try, and as with Earl Gray I think I’m going to have to take peppermint tea off the banned list. This cup was tasty, soothing, and being trapped in a car for hours I liked that I didn’t have to worry about over-steeping it or caffeine content. I got a little bit of cream added to mine and I think the peppermint flavour (which I found just a little bit weak) may have come out stronger had I gone without. I liked the peppermint notes in this tea more then previous peppermints though as it seemed sweeter and rounder (more like a peppermint candy) rather then a very sharp, “natural” peppermint flavour.
Preparation
(whines) When am I ever gonna get better? OK, I’m done. But seriously, I’m on day four (I think) of this cold and today is the worst. I couldn’t even go to Prayer + Share this morning so that makes me even more depressed… I’ve got a couple bags lying around and while it’s not my preference, it’s a quick and easy way for me to make tea. Put this in my coffee (6oz) w/ 1tsp sugar free hazelnut syrup. A touch on the sweet side but pretty darn good. The only thing I can’t figure out is why the heck they’d put chamomile or licorice root in it??? I gave it a pretty low score, but if you like rooibos/herbal blends and/or pumpkin spice, I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.
Preparation
Not bad for chai that cost $1.63. I can distinctly taste a trace of anise in the tea that’s interesting, but not too licorice-y. None of the spices are particularly intense or prominent.
