Tea #6 of iceday sipdown

I think I got this one from Jackie

This tea is weird. I get the chocolate scent in the dry notes, but once its steeped it tastes floral like. Definetly no chocolate & no cream.

Figured I’d try this one even though i wasn’t expecting much with the coconut in it. The initial sips are quite nice but then it turns into a mildly bitter cup with a strange after taste. It might be worth checking out if you enjoy coconut but overall, no thanks from me! Thanks to Nicole for letting me try this!

Hey I made a GungFu in Gravity Gaiwan. the first infusion being 3 minutes at 85C. Therein the tastes are remarkable and only slight hibiscus oil present, a plus. The pomegranate starts out mild and then goes away almost completely. The second press through the GGW yields a golden color liquor where the tea is very much like a gunpowder I might have ordered at dim sum. Fabulous and intensely tart.

The scent of the tea was very promising, dark and nutty. After pouring and steep the coconut flavor was nice against the black tea. I may have let it steep too long as when it began to cool the coconut flavor was overwhelmed by the black tea taste.

Thanks to Momo! I received this in out Christmas swap. The smell of the dry leaves is just lovely. It kind of reminds me of Green Goddess from Tea Grotto with the hints of fruit. The flavor is just as lovely. The peach is very light but it works well with the sencha and jasmine. It’s very light and crisp with soft fruity, sweet notes. Thanks again Amanda!

I’m weeding out my tea right now and trying to drink my way through my samples and choose the favorites that I want to keep as a staple tea. I decided to go for a sample Nicole sent me. I made a pot of this tea and wanted to like it. How could a black tea with coconut go wrong? There was something off with the flavor and I couldn’t stomach it.

I don’t taste any maple…just a really really slight hint of some sort of nutty flavor. It’s good if you just think of it as a plain black tea, but I wouldn’t run out and pick this up if you love dessert teas and fun flavors. Honestly, you pay $3 for 2oz of tea, so you get what you pay for. It’s a little almondy, which is pleasant.

I was expecting way more from this tea. I was drinking my new Della Terra teas last night and this is such a fun flavor that I thought I’d be on cloud nine. It does not taste like cookies and cream, period. Upon first sip, my thought was “this tastes like rum”. I suppose that isn’t negative for everyone, but I was hoping more for cookies. It does have a chocolatey smell once brewed, like melted chocolate chips and some flowery notes.

I brewed it for 3 mintues and it’s a bit bitter for me. All of this said, I’m probably still going to drink this during the work day today because the more I think of it as a slightly random flavored black tea, the more I’m ok with it. If you’re expecting it to taste as good as Della Terra’s flavored teas…lower your expectations.

I took this one out of Traveling Tea Box A. It smelled so much like fresh blueberries, and I like green tea, so I thought it would be perfect for me! I’m not edumacated enough to know what makes it a gunpowder, but it is. Anyway, it’s blueberry-y enough, I guess. There’s a slightly bitter/astringent thing going on, though. It’s not as good as the organic blueberry jam tea from DavidsTea. Nothing I would go crazy over, but decent.

Another one I get to try from momo! thanks again! Peach & jasmine sounds like the perfect combination! And sencha is my favorite type of green tea! The steep color is a pretty light green. I may have steeped this one too long, but I like it anyway. Definitely a peach presence… not so much with the jasmine, even though I saw two flowers go into the infuser. The sencha has a vegetal taste… tastes just like green beans (which I love.. I eat them raw way more than I eat potato chips!)

well i must say , there is always a FIRST!! of tasting notes and i’m IT!! i came across this tea out of the discussion boards in request of how to get some “Linden Tea” – tommytheToad was more than open to exchange this precious commodity with some of my David’s tea and Mighty Leaf stash.

now to the actual taste…the aroma is definetely flowery. like a fresh boquet to be exact, it has a light sweet taste to it, but i’m just more than happy to drink it!! i learned that Linden tea carries a lot of health properties, and i’m graciously appreciating the trusted community of steepster in helping me connect with this lovely tea. so yes i would recommend this tea…there is nothing stark or hard or herbal about it….just a nice light taste and an aroma of walking through the garden on a mid summer’s afternoon….a dream after all :)

many thanks again to TommytheToad!! :)

Thank you Sandy Stith for this wonderful sample!

I’ve been sticking to my comfort teas for a while. Maybe out of laziness, I don’t know.

Today however seemed fitting for something different. The cool crisp air that we’ve had the past few days just seemed like a perfect match for this. We’ve had the a/c off and all of our oversized windows wide open, letting in the most beautiful breeze. Oh how I love fall.

This tea was the perfect compliment to the changing weather. It was warm and spicy (not heat spicy of course, but spices spicy lol). The cloves were so fragrant and filled my kitchen with smells of the holidays. I didn’t get a lot of the clementine, but I could taste it underneath the other flavors so it wasn’t completely absent. Over all a very delicious flavor. I can picture myself enjoying a nice big mug full on Christmas morning while the kids open their gifts…. In fact, I’m going to go buy myself some because of that very image !

I’m finding that I’m not a huge fan of earl grey tea, but for $1 per oz I had to include this in my order. I slept in today and have a long day of work ahead of me so I decided to brew some of this to get me going.

I don’t dislike this tea, but it’s nothing that really stands out to me. I added a little local honey that I picked up from the farmer’s market and it’s a fine cup. I won’t be rushing out to get more of this.

This is another generous sample from Azzrian. Thanks again!

So I’m not terribly fond of this one. It is sweet and I can see the white chocolate association if I really look for it. It does have a creamy flavor to it. I think my biggest problem is with the rooibos. I understand the medicinal label for rooibos as this might fit that descriptor. Normally rooibos tastes like a vanilla bean after you have used the vanilla goodness out of it. It also tastes like redwood trees smell, just the trees themselves. This just doesn’t live up to that. Perhaps some thing went wrong with this batch. I know this isn’t what I expected. Miss Azzrian did send me a good sized sample so I’ll ice it and see what happens then. Thanks for the chance to try a new tea Azzrian. :D

Amanda – Thank you!!!

I hope you don’t mind…I’m going to share the batch you sent me – with others :)

This has a CRAZY INTENSE Aroma…mostly Caramel and Super Sweet Rooibos prior to infusing. After infusing it smells a little more like toffee.

The flavor is pretty good! It’s certainly a caramel flavored rooibos. But it’s a little light on the creme. That’s ok with me, tho!

I guess it has more of a creamy texture than a taste/flavor, if that makes sense. It’s pretty good, tho! So glad I got to try this one!

momo

Share away! I still have way more than what I sent you!

Tea and Trees

That sounds delicious.

I like this one quite a bit. I don’t think my palate is advanced enough to pick out the white tea, though, so to me it just tastes like a fruit tisane with more body than normal.

Smells amazing both dry and steeped. A lovely looking tea. Strong pineapple and coconut finally! The coconut is definitely present after the tea vanishes from my mouth. Pineapple taste is pretty strong in the liquid. There is a slight oiliness to the mouthfeel.

Mildly sweet but I can see how this could quickly become bitter without paying attention to the steeping. I could be wrong on that, though. After all, I didn’t know this was a white since it was thrown into my embarrassingly large purchase as a freebie. I thought it was a green and I probably used a higher temp water than generally advisable for a white? But it isn’t bitter.

This is going to be a nice dessert-y type of tea to keep on hand.

Again, I hope I got the right tea. I added updated info and picture from Tropical Tea Company’s site. Though there were no berries in my blend I could definitely smell them.

I get cranberries through and through. I didn’t expect to notice chocolate – white chocolate not usually having any cacao in it – but I thought maybe a bit of sweet. I don’t get any sweet that can’t be attributed to the berries. Oddly, adding sugar makes it just a bit more sour.

Won’t be getting this one again.

Shucks! Two strike outs in a row!… Tomorrow hopefully you will get at least one outstanding tea =)

Well, when you try a lot, you’re bound to end up with some you don’t care for. :)

Lucy

Too true =)

Hm. Smells like cranberries when opening the package. Not cherries, but that’s okay – I like cranberries better! There are indeed dried cranberries in here.

I don’t taste almonds, which is disappointing. Amaretto is one of my favorite liqueurs. I see a trend, though. Simply putting almond slices in a tea doesn’t flavor it enough for me to taste it. Might be different for others, though. I do taste cranberries and what seems like a simple tea base. I added sugar as suggested. It did enhance the berry flavor but still no almond.

It’s not a bad tea, but nothing I’ll get again.

I hope this is the same tea previously reviewed. I added to the description and updated the photo…

Smells a bit off on first opening the bag but it steeps up nicely. Coconut flavor is balanced with the tea base. It won’t be a favorite but it’s not bad. I just can’t find that coconut I dream of!

Amazing smell of blueberries! Again, I’m assuming that is included in the “natural flavors” since blueberry is not listed specifically.

Smells & tastes a lot like a blueberry muffin. This is another to put on the keeper list, I think. However, as it cools I don’t care as much for it. The flavor becomes a bit more tinny if that makes any sense. A harsher tang to it as it cools. Adding a bit of sugar as they suggest does seem to help it a bit, though.

Upon reflection I’m not sure about keeping this around. It’s in their sale area right now, though and they sent 2 more ounces free with my order so they may be clearing it out. Possibly not even something I could order again even if I wanted to. Which is also okay, since 4 ounces of this will last me a looooong time. :)

I’ll admit that I bought this one primarily because of the Lemur in the name. I taste no fur in this blend, though. :)

I’m assuming that the pomegranate and vanilla flavors come from the “natural flavor” ingredient. Wherever they come from, they are pretty tasty. I do like this one quite a bit. Definitely going on the keeper list.

Sweet enough to not need anything added. I don’t notice the astringency but the pomegranate taste is nicely mellowed by the vanilla. This would be a nice tea to have in place of dessert if you are on the diet bandwagon. If not, it would be nice to have with a slice of pound cake or a bit of dark chocolate, I think.

Smells very pinapple-y!

This is a nice blend. Good depth of pineapple flavor – not too much to overwhelm the tea base but enough to taste the pineapple clearly. Plus, the price is definitely right on Tropical Tea’s products! I might keep this around. Still making up my mind.
