The aroma of lavender overpowers the aroma of the sencha with the fresh leaves, it is sad but I love the smell of lavender and am a sucker for anything lavender flavored.
The brewed tea has more of the bright green aroma of the sencha which blends well with the lavender. The color is also a really lovely light green.
The taste is somewhat evocative of pine needles and the smell of grass. It is wonderful, very clean and green! This is one of my favorite floral greens from Wegmans, I think the taste is just so unique and yummy
Still getting used to this, my first WuYi. Smokey and dry. I inquired with Wegman’s HQ and they confirmed that this is Rishi. Wegman’s doesn’t identify the producer on its bulk tea labels, but most of their teas are Ito En, also Rishi and Republic of Tea.

Another cold brew! Although this is my first time logging this tea I’ve tried it at least two other times. I wasn’t impressed with it because the lemon has a bitter taste. There’s supposed to be lemon peel in the tea, but it taste more like the pith. Fortunately, cold brewing resolved the bitterness issue, and I was left with a nice cold glass of lemony tea. I went form thinking I would never buy this tea again to adding it to my grocery shopping list. This is a great summertime tea!
Richly flavored yet light, naturally quite sweet, toward malty. Minimal, if any, new notes on the second steep, just muted flavor. This is a no-brainer for a go-to breakfast tea that will gently and smoothly bring you into the day by awakening your taste buds with a kiss.
Note: may come in bags, per Ethos much earlier review, but I purchased it from the bulk tea bins.
Got this yesterday on a wegmans run, and I was craving a chai so it worked out well.
I didn’t feel like the chai or the chocolate were quite strong enough for me, but especially not the chai. I like my chai to have a bit more of a kick. However, this would probably be good for chai lattes- particularly iced come summertime. I’ll have to try it.
Another sipdown. Sad, but necessary—cupboard real estate is at a premium around here. Did a nice long-ish steep on this sample from the wonderful Jude. It might be mislabeled, as there was no Organic Darjeeling from Wegmans in the database, but I’ll assume it’s the right thing unless I discover otherwise.
Dark amber in color, roasty chocolate aroma with caramelized squash notes and a hint of florals. Has an almost silky mouthfeel, which I didn’t expect from a Darjeeling but is really nice. I’d definitely drink this again. Too bad it doesn’t exist! ;)
Preparation
This sample was from Veronica and I can see how people who don’t favor strong chais love this tea, however I prefer strong chais. The tea had plenty of cardamom pods and cloves but not too much, and very little cinnamon. Was quite good though. I’ll drink it again but I don’t find it something to write home about.
Preparation
Used the last of my leaves for my morning cup. I ordered a tin of Tiger Assam from A&D, so I thought it would be wise to make space in my pantry.
This is a good Assam. It has the taste of fresh baked bread with lots of crust. I almost always take it with milk and sugar (like today), and I can sip it mindlessly while still enjoying. It’s not mind blowing or anything, but it is nice and steady.
A very nice, malty Assam. It brews into a lovely reddish-orange color, and I can smell something sweet (honey maybe?) and fresh baked bread. The taste is rich with a decent maltiness and a subtle sweetness that kind of floats on the tongue. It’s astringent at the end of the sip, but it’s pleasing, not overwhelming at all.
I really like this tea. It’s not the best Assam I’ve ever had, but it’s far from being the worst. Another good, steady tea.
I had a late lunch with a friend at an Indian restaurant that I’d been wanting to try for a while. The food was amazing. Seriously, one of the best meals of my life. I wanted a cup of chai when I got home just to put a cap on things.
This is a fairly simple chai, but it has a good balance between the spice blend and the tea. With a little honey and milk it was just what I wanted.
Took this with me while I ran errands today. Added milk and sweetened it with some honey. I really like this spice blend because it’s so light on the cinnamon. I’m a huge fan of the spice, but I feel like it dominates too many chais. The blend strikes a really good balance between the tea and the spices. It can get bitter very quickly, so I really have to keep an eye on the time while it’s steeping, but other than that I think this is a decent everyday chai.
Preparation
I’m throwing caution to the wind and having a caffeinated tea at almost ten o’clock at night. I’m sure I’ll hate myself later, but right now this is wonderfully delicious. Slightly sweet with a nice bit of spice. The base tea isn’t super strong, but it isn’t completely hidden by the spices either. I’m taking a break from sugar, so I skipped the honey, but I did add a touch of milk. Given how much I like sugar in my chai I’m happily surprised at how much I’m enjoying it without the extra sweetness.
Preparation
I have to restrain myself from drinking caffeinated teas at night ALL THE TIME. It sucks to have so much of my stash off limits during the time of day that I have the most time available for tea drinking!
The weather has turned cold again, so I thought a nice chai would be a good way to start the day. To make it a little more special, and to tempt my daughter to the kitchen table, I added homemade cinnamon vanilla syrup to our cups instead of honey or regular sugar. It was an absolute stroke of brilliance on my part. It took the tea to a whole new level. The chai I use is pretty light on the cinnamon, so the additional spice in the syrup didn’t mess up the balance of spices in the tea. The vanilla lended a smoothness that turned this into a new tea in the best possible way. I’ll definitely add this syrup to our chai -and probably many other teas – from now on.
Preparation
It’s really cold this morning. I was shivering by the time I walked from my bedroom to the kitchen. This may have had something to do with the fact that I didn’t put my slippers on, but still… cold. I couldn’t get the kettle on soon enough! As soon as the water was heating I reached for this tea. No internal tea debate needed. A nice hot cuppa with plenty of spice was definitely called for.
This is easily the most consumed chai in our house. There is plenty of spice but only a small amount of cinnamon which can sometimes overwhelm a chai, and the base tea is really good. Even when it gets oversteeped there’s little to no bitterness. A little milk and and a touch of honey makes it even better.
