Beautiful. I love rose petals and black tea (also pu-erh tea, but that’s a different review) as a home concoction, and this very closely approximates what I would do on my own—except I like my mix a little rosier. It is also very close to Rose de Chine from Le Palais des Thés, which first bore my love for tasting rose and black notes simultaneously. A nominal note: it’s called “Gypsy Rose” in this “Romance Teas” sampler.
Preparation
Absolutely killer. A bit of a sourpuss, I love lemon flavored foods (desserts!) and beverages, including teas. This one had a very strong lemon note with all the magic of green tea, but without being so strong as to eclipse the citrus (probably thanks to white tea rounding out the bunch). While I can’t say I found much of a jasmine note going on here, I did find that the sachet did great in my huge mug, twice steeped.
Preparation
This tea is an amazing ice tea. We had this as an ice tea for a desert after cooking a delicious new year’s eve dinner (sushi, for all you steepsters who actually want to know). Since it was an ice tea for several people, we seeped 6 packets in hot water, which we mixed with a few table spoons of german rock cane sugar (Teavana), which gave it a nice sweet taste. We drank it fresh mixed with ice and steamed milk that night, stored the leftovers in the fridge, then drank the rest of the tea the next day with regular skim milk (too lazy to steam the milk). It was almost better the second time!
I definitely recommend this tea.
Meh. Not bad nor good. More of my Christmas gift sampler. I’m detecting a spicy note in this that I tasted in the other Zhena’s sampler. Celeryish again. My common sense tells me no one would put that in a mint tea. But it bites the sides of my tongue and lingers just like that.
Preparation
I first tried this tea maybe 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. The rose flavor was mild and sweet, and it sparked my love of rose-flavored teas. But having just bought another tin for the first time since then, I found myself pretty disappointed. The tea doesn’t live up to my memories at all. I remember it being subtle, but now the smell of the teabags and flavor of the tea reminds me of strong perfume. My roommate, who doesn’t like flowery scents, is affronted if I even open the tin in the room because the smell is so strong and lingers around. I don’t know whether my tastes have improved since I first tried this tea or if the “recipe” just changed at some point since then. I have to drink it with a lot of milk to mellow out perfume-y taste, and whereas I normally use two teabags per cup, I can only handle one of this. It might be more tolerable when combined with something like Earl Grey or a breakfast blend, though.
This is really, really yummy. Blueberry and vanilla paired thru and thru with green tea! Very nice!
I’m not sure about this. It is such a strong chamomile and the appeal of chamomile is usually its mellowness. It tastes exactly how it smells: like an herb garden. I suppose chamomile and fennel are the dominant flavors. Very spicy and it kind of burns my tongue.
EDIT: Scratch all that! I figured it out. Celery! It tastes exactly like celery.

Additional Notes:
Since the individual bag packaging has a LARGE “P” and “B” I always think it’s sayin’ PEANUT BUTTER…lol…doesn’t help my messed-up mind when the color of the wrapping is a Peanut Butter Color…hahahaha…
Peanut butter tea…hmmm…off to search archives….you don’t suppose you could use Jif as a stir-in ….. ponderponderponderponder ….
This is a very mellow blend of masala chai. The tea is smooth and malty, and the spices add a gentle warmth to the flavor. The coconut is slightly overpowering, and mutes the other flavors a tad. This tea could have more heat, as I absolutely love a nice spicy masala chai. Overall, not too bad for a bagged tea.
Preparation
During my recent cold, this was one of several pomegranate/green hybrids I tried. While I still found the aroma of roses very discernible, as well as the scent of pomegranate, I didn’t find that those notes carried into the flavor. It seemed to brew completely differently than when I first had it. Now that could be the fault of stuffy-head stupor, but this time I found it to taste more green than anything else. It was actually the least impressive of the pomegranate/green combinations I had, as well as the least impressive of the Zhena’s sampler it came with (including, in addition, Lemon Jasmine, Ambrosia White Plum, and Sense of Peace).
I also cannot taste the raspberry note in this tea. The Earl Grey combined notes come through just fine without being overpowering, but the headliner for this tea is missing. I wouldn’t buy it again, but not a bad addition to the sampler of Zhena’s Teas it came in.
