27 Tasting Notes
I like this tea. I liked it the first time I tried it, and I like every cup I drink of it. I’ve only had it black, and I can’t imagine ever adding sugar or milk/cream to it. The ginger is light and lovely. I don’t get pear out of this at all. But it’s a nice tea. I drink it a couple times a month. It’s usually not my go-to (as I prefer tisanes) but it’s nice every now and then when I need a caffeine boost.
Preparation
I’ll be honest, this is the only matcha I’ve ever tried, but I do enjoy it. I finally got a bamboo whisk and it helps tremendously. Apparently the David’s Tea matcha is really good, but the price was right on this one. I like it halfway through the morning. I find I have to drink this one fairly quickly to ensure that the powder doesn’t settle. I like the flavour, very grassy and rich. I’m not sure that I would branch out into other matchas, as I like to stick to caffeine-free teas. I can’t compare it to any other matcha, but I do like it.

Steepster seems to have eaten my notes on this one (probably because they sounded so delicious). I wasn’t sure about this tea at first, to be honest, but it’s grown on me. I’ve actually only got a couple servings left before the bottom of the tin. This was one of my first David’s Tea purchases and even though it’s only been a month since I bought it, I’ve already got eight others. At this rate, I may as well just open my own shop! I’ll drink this one any way it can be made. Plain, with brown sugar (it does have to be brown sugar, though, not honey or white sugar or any other sweetener), with a bit of milk, steeped in milk as a latte…you name it, I’ve tried it, and it’s been delicious. I can see why this is touted as a customer favourite. If I’m drinking it plain, I prefer to steep it for as long as possible. Even in milk, I’ll usually let it go for at least fifteen or twenty minutes. You get a bit of a berry flavour in this one…someone in another review said “Strawberry Quik” and it definitely gets close when done as a latte. I can’t wait for my next one to arrive!

Preparation
This was one of my first purchases from David’s Tea. I do enjoy it, but I wish that I could add some milk or cream to it. I feel like that would be great. Unfortunately, it curdles. And that’s just the nature of this tea, but it’s still a bit of a bummer. The flavour is light and fruity with a bit of vanilla; I definitely taste the strawberry though I can’t really pick out the rhubarb, other than just some tartness. The aroma is very pleasant, both dry and prepared. I do like to give this one extra brewing time. If I do add sugar, I add brown sugar. I tried it once with white sugar and it wasn’t great.
Flavors: Cream, Jam, Vanilla
Preparation
Not a bad tea, but all I really taste is the mint. There’s subtle valerian and camomile, which is actually nice, because valerian especially can be quite overwhelming. I like the flavour and the aroma of this tea, but I don’t find that it relaxes me at all. I’ve tried numerous “sleepy teas” and this is probably one of the least effective. I’ll finish my tin but I wouldn’t buy it again. I always brew this one for 10-15 minutes because you need more time with some of these herbs. Really, I don’t mind the flavour, but it’s not like minty teas are hard to come by.
Preparation
I love it at night. Maybe not the best tasting but definitely relaxing. It does helps me sleep at night. It has found a permanent place in my collection.
I ordered this on a whim with an online sale, and I was not disappointed. Best with a bit of milk and some brown sugar, I think, but perfectly fine black, or just with a bit of milk. Not a lot of spice flavor but it’s very nice for a lightly spiced black tea. Not something I would seek out, and I’m not heartbroken that it’s been discontinued, though I do prefer it to the Glitter & Gold that replaced it.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves
Preparation
I received this as a sample with an online order. I’m glad I did, because it’s not the kind of tea I would normally buy. I let it steep for twenty minutes in my Timolino. I started out with the recommended time but every time I took the lid off the aroma was more and more delicious. I’m very confused with some of the other ratings of this tea, because I thought that both the aroma and flavor were spectacular. I can’t wait to grab a full tin of this. The vanilla is light but sweet, and the rooibos is lovely. I don’t have a lot of experience with rooibos, but this tea makes me want to try more. I’m hoping that I get some rooibos samples with my next order!
