Yet another excellent tea that I really like that I should want more of, but don’t buy more of. The fruity notes are very pronounced, bordering on honeydew melon or melon in general. Maybe pear. Either way, it is fruity and noticeable at the front and ends of lightly brewed sips. It also has something that reminds me of cucumber in its fresh green quality. I got more fruity flavors in shorter steeps between 2 and 3 minutes starting off, and then slowly increasing the time for the rebrews. The florals are also incredibly strong and leafy, reminding me of peony. The tea could become a little bitter if steeped to long, or if the tea got a little cold, but they were pleasant. This was the only detractor for a great tea.

What-Cha has changed my mind about First Flushes as the ones I’ve tried from this company had been excellent. They are usually too grassy and bitter for me, but the balance of these is spot on. I’m still impressed with the unusual flavor combo this had, making me think of a white tea or even an oolong rather than a black, but the liqour’s light malt and the label remind me otherwise. I’d buy more if I wasn’t such an oolong head. I’m not sure who I’d recommend this tea other than for people trying out first flush, people who want to experience difference in black teas, or those who know what they are looking for.

Flavors: Cucumber, Floral, Fruity, Malt, Melon, Smooth

I have quite enjoyed everything that I’ve tried with the name Gopaldhara on it.

Dido. One of the few teas that I liked from Teabox was from Gopaldhara.

Agree with your description. Goaldhara’s first flush tasted to me like a cross between oriental beauty and white tea. I liked it, but couldn’t justify buying more when I can just have an oolong.

Me:

I am an MSU graduate, and current alternative ed. high school social studies and history teacher. I formerly minored in anthropology, and I love Egyptian and classical history. I love to read, write, draw, paint, sculpt, fence(with a sword), practice calisthenics on rings, lift weights, workout, relax, and drink a cuppa tea…or twenty.

I’ve been drinking green and black teas ever since I was little living in Hawaii. Eastern Asian influence was prominent with my friends and where I grew up, so I’ve been exposed to some tea culture at a young age. I’ve come a long way since I began on steepster and now drink most teas gong fu, especially oolong. Any tea that is naturally creamy, fruity, or sweet without a lot of added flavoring ranks as a must have for me. I also love black teas and dark oolongs with the elusive “cocoa” note. My favorites are lighter Earl Greys, some white teas like What-Cha’s Kenyan offerings, most Hong-Cha’s, darker Darjeelings, almost anything from Nepal, Green Shan Lin Xi’s, and Greener Dong Dings. I’m in the process of trying Alishan’s. I also tend to really enjoy Yunnan Black or Red teas and white teas. I’m pickier with other teas like chamomile, green teas, and Masalas among several.

I used to give ratings, but now I only rate teas that have a strong impression on me. If I really like it, I’ll write it down.

I’ll enjoy a tea almost no matter what, even if the purpose is more medicinal, for it is my truest vice and addiction.
