2201 tasting notes

I am trying to do some sample stashbusting for the rest of this week! Lets see how many samples I can get through before I move.

I had a sample of this before, but another sample pouch of this came to me via Infusin_Susan, I believe. I really liked this one before and am interested to see how it comes off now, since my tastes have changed quite a bit from the last time I tried this.

I have to say that whereas once was quite a fan of this, now it’s decent but not great. I don’t know what to point out except that I don’t think I am really that much of a lavender fan. That said the lavender in this is light and not soapy, which helps its cause a lot. I think it is partly the base that I no longer care for so much; it has a particular flavor that I am just not digging. But it is still a drinkable cup and I am enjoying it.

I read your post with interest, since this was one of the first loose Earl Grey teas I have tried as part of a sample pack, and I enjoyed it a lot then. Since then, I have sampled many more Earl Greys and have a new favorite. Have you figured out what your favorite is?

Dinosara

I have searched through many Earls looking for my favorite! Right now it’s Lupicia’s Earl Grey. I also quite like Dammann Freres’ Earl Grey avec fleurs, though it is a slightly lighter bergamot than I usually go for. When I want a lot of bergamot I will go for Todd & Holland’s Double Bergamot, but the Lupicia one is so well balanced.

Thanks. Lupicia’s Earl Grey is on my shopping list.

Bio

I am tea obsessed, with the stash to match. I tend to really enjoy green oolongs, Chinese blacks, and flavored teas with high quality bases, especially florals, bergamot-based teas, and chocolate teas.

In my free time I am a birder, baker, and music/movie/tv addict.

Here are my rating categories, FYI:
100-90: Mind-blowingly good, just right for my palate, and teas that just take me to a happy place.
89-86: I really really like these teas and will keep most of them in the permanent collection, but they’re not quite as spectacular as the top category
85-80: Pretty tasty teas that I enjoy well enough, but definitely won’t rebuy when I run out.
79-70: Teas that I would probably drink again, but only if there were no preferrable options.
69-50: Teas that I don’t really enjoy all that much and wouldn’t drink another cup of.
49 and below: Mega yuck. This tea is just disgusting to me.
Unrated: Usually I feel unqualified to rate these teas because they are types of teas that I tend to not like in general. Sometimes user error or tea brewed under poor conditions.
