What-Cha end of year sale - Ends tommorow!

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good Christmas.

I would like to offer everyone 15% off all teas at What-Cha with the coupon code BOXING15. It is valid for the rest of 2014.

As always, free international shipping is available on all orders above $40/£25/€32 in value and all UK orders get free shipping.

New teas are constantly being added to the store (including hand-made Georgian Black Teas!) and you can find them all listed here – http://what-cha.com/categories/new-teas.html

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions, queries or are in need of any recommendations.

You can find the What-Cha website at http://what-cha.com/

Thanks,
Alistair

Should the Black Friday teas have arrived by now?

What-Cha said

My apologies for the tea not arriving yet, I believe the delays are as a result of it being held up by customs.

It typically takes 5-15 days to arrive but when it is intercepted by customs, it can add an additional month unto the delivery time. Hopefully it is just being held up by customs and that it will appear some time in January.

I’ve recently added the option of paying for tracking on the website, where I’ve simply passed along the cost (flat fee of £5 on top of the postage). In order to make it more affordable, I’ve just subsidised the cost by £1 to reduce the tracking price to £4.

So…my plan was to spend any of my Christmas money on things other than tea (since that is where all my birthday money went)

I am pretty sure my resolve just might break with this sale!!

Want to try a group order, Amanda? I was looking last night and there are some I’d grab if I didn’t have to pay for shipping or could split it. :)

That just might be doable, if I end up breaking down and ordering I will let you know…currently my ‘ideal’ shopping cart is at $60…it is so hard, I have to decide whether or not to get a bunch of new teas or my favorites!

What are your favorites Amanda? I have never gotten anything from them and I want to know what’s good. I am definitely getting some of their Georgian tea because I have a coworker who is from Georgia (the country, not the state.)

Welll I am going through this insane plan of trying all their teas, as a weekly blog feature thingy…they keep making it harder by adding new teas!! But so far I have enjoyed all of the ones I have tried. My favorites have been Kenyan Silver Needle, Kenyan Premium White, Yellow Darjeeling, Darjeeling 1st Flush 2014 Gopaldhara SFTGFOP1 Black Tea, Korea Dong Cheon Daejak 2013 Sparrow’s Tongue ‘Jakseol’ Green Tea and Fujian Qi Lan Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea

hehe, so many teas! (also, fun fact, I am from the state originally :P )

Ooh! The Korean Teas really caught my eye. I was looking at the Gopaldhara as well. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the order, Amanda.

I’ll send it out Tuesday as I’m expecting a few new teas to arrive which I would like to add in.

Wooo!!!! Exciting!! :D Your new teas look amazing, I am always so excited to try them, hehe, but it does make it hard to achieve my goal of trying all your teas! But on the other hand that means What-Cha Wednesdays will continue FOREVER!

Yeah I do love adding new teas, as I think it is a great way to keep upping the total overall average quality, by dropping the less special teas and replacing them with even more exciting teas. I like to think of it as ‘Tea Darwinism’.

I also love the idea of eventually offering at least one tea from every tea producing country in the world, with an end goal of creating a ‘Discover the World’ sampler set.

Hehe, that is an awesome term, I like it!

Also, very admirable goal…it coincides with my goal to try tea from every tea producing region in the world. Ok really I want to just try all the teas, but even at the insane amount that I drink it won’t happen in my life (unless I attain immortality by drinking so much tea?) so my main goal is to try each of the teas on my 30+ page spreadsheet which currently just lists all the teas, tea plantations, and regions…that I have found so far.

I really need to get back to researching that, it has the names of tea, type of tea, the translation and calligraphy (if applicable) year of first production, country/region of origin, and season of harvest. Nooooo I am not at all obsessive and possibly collecting information to write a book one day :P

Also…and I am saying this ‘off the record’ just as a consumer and not as a tea blogger, you are totally one of my favorite tea shops, possibly my favorite ever. Wishing you a hugely successful upcoming year ;)

I can’t think of a goal more worthy than wanting to try every tea! 30+ page spreadsheet of teas sounds great, what’s the most obscure region you have on the list?

I would love to read your book should you write one.

Thanks for the positive words, very encouraging to hear.

All the best for next year :)

Hmm, most obscure region…I think some of the South American plantations, everyone forgets that they produce tea and I love that!

If I do ever manage to get my thoughts together to write a book I would be honored to have you read it. Hopefully it goes better than my last attempt at writing a book (it was on mineralogy and gemstones) and I kept wanting to make it such an expansive, all encompassing work…and ended up bogging myself down in years of research and accumulating data, and my book really never amounted to anything…oops!

I’ve heard of plantations in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia and Guatemala but have found it very hard to come across.

At least you have the prior experience to draw upon should you proceed with the book and I think tea would be easier to write about than mineralogy.
