Tea Identification Help?
Hi, everyone!
I visited my local Asian Pacific market today, and the selection of tea was great—although most of it was hard to identify. I decided to buy a pack of different teas; this was partly due to the tins, and partly because the selection looked good (I’m a sucker for a Tieguanyin). However, I wondered if anyone knew what this tea was like, or had any experience with the company. I’m including pictures of it in hopes that someone might know more about it. It was only $7, so I’m not sure what to expect, quality-wise. Thanks for any help!

Oh hey, long ago I bought those teas, they were alright…not the best thing ever, but they were not terrible.
Good to hear! I wasn’t expecting great quality, but glad to hear they’re ok (I think I may try one of them western style before I put the Tieguanyin in my Yixing teapot).
Nattie, the tins are what ultimately convinced me to buy them; I figured that, even if they’re terrible, I’d have some great tins (much more fitting for my Tieguanyin than my current tin—which is an Australian Outback Tea tin).
There are similar ones available at my local Asian mart. It’s always fun to buy their teas but I have usually been disappointed. These teas often end up being more expensive than I bargained for. I buy them for $6 or $7, steep them once and then forget them. They are usually the lowest quality Chinese teas available. There are of course exceptions to this rule, the trick is to find them.

I have had their TGY and it is unremarkable. It made a great ingredient in a few tea infused liquors I have made. Nothing special or great really.

I think I’ll brew this TGY western style. I’m pretty new to Yixing brewing, but I imagine that using tea that’s just ok wouldn’t be too beneficial to the patina.
