Little Terri's Long Awaited Ultimate Sipdown Extravaganza!!!
How much tea do you drink?
I only go through 10-25 grams a day, since I usually steep out tea till its done. And usually portion out 5 gram portions for my small gaiwan and yixing, Ill go through a bit more if I have guests or something.
Should I include herbals?
So far today I’ve steeped 1/4 cup of nettles to a Qt of water, which I’ll sip on all day to help control my allergies. (It works too!)
4 G of black tea, steeped 3 min and resteeped 5.
Next I plan to go through 15G or so of Shu Puerh, and that will be gongfu style, probably for the rest of the day.
Yesterday was similar, only sipping oolongs as my tea of the day, instead of shu. So I guess this is a typical pattern for me, black tea in the morning (sometimes gongfu, sometimes long brew), followed by some kind of oolong, puerh, or other. Maybe some herbal tea in the evening. I’d say 15 – 30 grams?
Hello March!! I didn’t make as big of a dent in my tea collection as I had hoped in February, but Progress, not perfection, right? I started Feb with 205 teas, I’m starting March with 192.
Here’s the crazy breakdown:

March Update
I’m ending at about 3440g but i’m still at about 97 teas. The nice thing is that while i’ve been terrible at my puerh drinking, i HAVE been getting through my older teas and i’m nearly on track again with my “age” goal (as in teas in my cupboard are at most 8 months old).
I managed to drink up 2 puerh this month, both sheng. I have a long way to go, but progress, not perfection, right? I still refuse to weigh all my tea…lol…I just can’t get myself to do that. Maybe next year :)
weight has really helped me focus on drinking things. I’m still sucking at getting any puerh sipped up, but hey at least i’m getting my older teas out of my cupboard.
I’m really focusing in on the odd bits… anything that is not black tea, lol. Of course, I’m starting each day with black tea, but then moving on to something else. I really want to drink up everything. The nice thing is, there really isn’t anything in my collection that I don’t like, except maybe the verdant Cornfields tuocha, lol. But there are lots of things I like MORE than the others, if you know what I mean :)
I ended March with 183, added 3 black teas yesterday, so my starting total for April is 186.

This doesn’t include herbs growing in my garden, or medicinal herbs that I drink regularly, like Nettles and Elderberry. I think my main goal for this month is to work my way through my remaining 2 heicha, and the various smaller puerh samples, tuochas, and the novel teas I have around here. It would be nice to end the month at 150 :)

April Update
Ending the month at 48 teas and 3000g. Now comes the harder part since more than half my cupboard weight is puerh and of the 48 teas, only 20 of them are not puerh. On the plus side, i’ve actually had a few sessions this month so that’s at least progress!
That’s a start, right?
I’m sitting down to do my end of the month/begining of the month updates, and I have way more sheng than anything else. How the hell did that happen? Oh yeah, tea clubs. I dropped out of all of them at least a year ago, but still haven’t sampled everything.
Beginning of May Update: My tea count resulted in 1 tea more than my End of April numbers, not sure how that happened, but I’ll go with it. So here it is

It looks like I finally found the discrepancy between my steepster total and my tea Doc total, and that is the above listed French Export Shu, which I apparently drank at some point, but never removed from my list. In my quest to finally sample all of my puer from Life in Teacup, I went on a search and it was nowhere to be found in my pu boxes up on the 3rd floor, therefore I must have drank it!
