Searching for the perfect Honeydew Melon White tea

Hello All,

I am on the hunt for an amazing honeydew melon white tea. I would consider an oolong or green also, but my preference would be for white. The Honeydew white I have always enjoyed has been discontinued and I don’t know what I am going to find to take it’s place. :(

I sincerely appreciate any and all ideas from my fellow tea lovers. Thank you very much!

That sounds AMAZING! sorry i have never had it before, so i cant offer any tips, but is this a flavored tea, straight, or blended?

My usual was a flavoured white tea but I am open to trying anything.

aah… /sadface im a bit of a tea purist. I will drink a tea blend, but for some reason i cant stomach 90% of the flavorings used in teas. They just taste like chemicals to me :(

I understand, I am particular about flavourings in my teas too. I much prefer natural flavoring but will try most things at least once.

While it is not Honeydew, White Ambrosia by Simpson and Vail is quite good. www.svtea.com

Which one was it?

I hope it wasn’t Lupicia’s. Though not specifically honeydew a lot of people get honeydew from it. It might be one to try if its accessible to you. http://www.lupiciausa.com/MELON_WHITE_TEA_p/12407017.htm

I haven’t tried that one, but it looks like I may have to put in a tea order to give that one a go soon! Sounds wonderful.
Thanks!

I came to recommend Lupicia’s melon white – its good!

If you enjoy melon flavoured teas their melon oolong and golden honeydew rooibos are also well loved.

Oh my, I had better start saving up for yet another tea purchase in the near future! Thank you very much for the recommendations! :)

I have that tea! I think I have like a cup or two left? I can mail you that and a couple other melon teas once I arrive home if you’d like :)

It’s not white, but I love Lupicia’s Golden Honey Dew (green rooibos). I can mail a sample if you want one.

I would indeed love to try it, but aren’t you tired of mailing things to me as of yet? ;)
Honestly, it must be said that you are quite an astoundingly generous woman and fellow tea lover. I don’t believe I can thank you enough for your kindness to me!

this tea is soooooo good!

I don’t think it’s me, most tea people are like this. I’m going to mail it separately so I don’t put your box over 13 oz.

TeaNTees said

Goodness, if all tea people are this wonderful I regret not getting sociable with my tea habit years ago! :)
Is my memory correct in thinking that my most recent box was 1.2 pounds? If you were to include a sample in that box would you need more compensation for shipping? Please let me know as I don’t think you should have to fund a sample from your own coin purse.

I just looked back through our PM conversation, it was 13 oz, so if we bump it past that it will cost quite a bit more. I don’t mind sending a sample, we send stuff around all the time.
If you want to get to know more tea people you should come hang out in chat sometime (it’s in a sticky post).

The only Honeydew White I’ve had was Honeydew Melon by Republic of Tea. I really enjoyed the taste of it, but I don’t know how it compares to Lupicia’s.

TeaNTees said

That is the one that I have always indulged in and is unfortunately being discontinued. :(

That’s too bad. It looks like it’s still available on their website if you want to stock up before it disappears!

TeaNTees said

I’m pondering that, but the only Honeydew White tea still available on their site is the bulk package of 250 tea sachets for somewhere around $60. I’m unsure if I should commit to that or just save up and try these delicious sounding Lupicia teas people have been recommending instead.

Understandable. That is a lot of one kind of tea.

Sadly, my favorite melon teas (not sure if they are necessarily honeydew) are mostly unavailable now:
Butiki – Cantaloupe and Cream
California Tea House – (forgot the name but it isn’t on the site)
52Teas – Cantaloupe Watermelon (more cantaloupe than watermelon to me)
Lupicia – Melon white – this one is still available but pricey!

Even if they aren’t exactly honeydew (not sure I ever even tried honeydew), I’m sure you would have liked these.

Thanks so much for your reply!
I always wanted to give the Cantaloupe and Cream tea from Butiki a try but alas, I don’t believe that is an option anymore. :(
I absolutely love the 52 Teas cantaloupe and watermelon tea!
I’ll have to look into the California tea house selection as I have never heard of that company.
I think that Lupucia’s melon white will be my next tea purchase when I get paid next week. :)
Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

You are very welcome – I just wish I could suggest more teas that are actually available. I think the Lupicia is a lot like the 52Teas so you should like it if you like that one, even if it is pricier.

BirdPick has a nice honeydew green. They don’t sell samples, but you can e-mail them and they will send you some to try http://www.birdpick.com/faqs/#A7
