Is there a tea you love that most others on here hate?

I don’t know about anyone else but I long for Organic Lemon Myrtle from David’s Tea. Some can’t wait to get rid of this in their cupboard but I just love it. Now I see it’s not up on their website. I thought this would be a great topic and also a great way to let anyone out there know I will take it (with a swap of course) if they want to get rid of it!

Anyone else have something they love that most others hate?

I have lots like that, sometimes I look through the reviews and think “What’s wrong with everyone? This tea is delicious!”.

Breakfast Smoothie – 52 Teas springs to mind, it was very hit or miss with people. I loved it though, had top marks, could drink that any time.

Same thing with Watermelon Tea – ESP Emporium.

I thought DAVIDs Kokomo Green was pretty great. Cool Cucumber seems to be pretty hit or miss for people too. I’m not sure about any others, though I’m sure there are some.

American Tea Plantation teas. The key is gong fu which I think no one did when giving these teas a poor review.

I have these teas, bought them on Amazon for the novelty factor. Never thought to gongfu them.

I’m really liking the Classic First Flush. It has a maple syrup sweetness to it, and just the most unique black tea flavor. Only 1/3 of the tin left…

I really want that First Flush. Will they put out more this year after their FF Festival?

I think I found it on the website in May last year.

I feel pretty alone in liking Teavana and Della Terra Teas. xD Feel like most people here like unflavored teas for the most part, and if they like flavored teas they mainly like DavidsTea or something xD

I am looking for sources for good flavored ones since Butiki closed. I still like Lupicia, Kusmi and Nina’s for flavored.

Anlina said

Some of my favourite flavoured teas (and least favourite) come from Teavana. I think I’ve enjoyed all the Della Terra teas I’ve had too.

Ubacat said

I haven’t tried a lot of Teavana teas. I got scared off by all the bad rap they got. Do they flavour any with natural flavours?

I love Della Terra! They’re closed for now so I can’t buy anything from them :[ I want to restock on Lemon Chiffon.

I have one up on my sale thread. It’s from December.

Uniquity said

Della Terra was the most popular new company on Steepster a few years back. There are definite cycles to the trends.

Kaylee said

I confess to being down on Teavana, but I like Della Terra! The Chiffons and Almond Biscotti are especially good.

There was a Teavana tea that I had that I really liked and most people didn’t, let’s see if I can remember the name…it was something like Lavender dreams or something…it smells and tastes like potpourri, which oddly make me really like it!

AllanK said

I still shop Teavana once in a while. They are local and the most convenient tea store for me to go to. I recently bought their Glass Perfect Tea Maker and love it.

I really like Della Terra Teas, and still have some blends.

Amanda, are you thinking Tranquil Dreams?

Katiek said

I’m another fan of Della Terra – their lemon or lime chiffons are perfect for summer, and their oatmeal raisin is a unique flavor.

Dustin said

Della Terra is closed?! Like for good? The site says under construction like they are planning on coming back.

If you miss Lemon Chiffon and Almond Biscotti, try Tea Embassy. They have the exact same teas under the names Lemon Chiffon and Almond Cookies Green. No Lime Chiffon tho. :/

Ost said

No, Dustin, they are not closed. I’m sure they would have been more vocal if they were closing. I guess they are switching management. That’s what they said on their fb page. I would be devastated if they closed for good. :(
I never see any tasting notes on their teas, and when I do people are always saying bad things about them, so I just kinda figured everyone was on the unflavored tea train XD
Nice to know that some people like their teas though…

Dustin said

Ah, cool. I bought several sample pack a few years ago to try a selection of their teas. I found I didn’t really like most of the blacks and there were only three teas they had that I couldn’t live without.

Kaylee said

Thanks for the suggestion, Dustin!

Ost, I am definitely not on the unflavored tea train :-) The only reason I don’t write tasting notes about Della Terra is that I drank it all and did not restock because my cabinet is beyond out of control. But I have to limit my caffeine intake so I am often drinking flavored herbals.

I like a lot of the Teavana fruity teas. I don’t like the prices on their “teas” that are maybe 10% tea and 90% fruit though…

teataku said

^^Yes, what OMGsrsly said. Many of Teavana’s teas aren’t bad, but they want way too much for them considering how much actual tea is in the blend.

And Amanda, it is called Lavender Dreams. I have at least half a tin of it still because my husband just adores it. He’s a big lavender fan. I’m not always, but just occasionally I want some, and that’s a good one to go to when I do. It took a while to grow on me, though, so I understand completely when most people say they didn’t like it.

I think I go both ways. There are teas that I hate that everyone else really loves (one is even in the top 10!) And there are a couple of others that I love that others aren’t too keen on, and it just makes me think, “Hey, more for me!”

Ubacat said

I have some like that too but I wouldn’t say I hate them. They just didn’t excite my taste buds.

Yeah, hate is a too strong word. I just made an ‘ick’ face whenever I drank them.

well,, most on here like/love Genmatcha, and it’s the only tea i really, really cannot stand. I love Japanese teas, but this one is an enigma to me… wrong taste, wrong apperance, everythng.
I bought 100gr. last year to have anoher go, but it ended up in the bin instead….

I don’t like genmaicha either.. And I love japanese greens.

cookies said

I’m the exact opposite. I don’t enjoy Japanese greens, but I adore genmaicha.

David’s Tea no longer has lemon myrtle?! I love that one. :( I swear by lemon myrtle when you are sick (colds and such). Does anyone know a good source for it?

On topic, I love several Adagio teas but the company overall doesn’t seem to get very high ratings.

Me too. I’m a big fan of Adagio and I really like their signature blends.

Ost said

Aha, I should just send all the Adagio teas that I get in swaps to you! They’re like my least fav company xD Their teas are so wasted on me haha!

Aww hehehe :)

Ost said

Though, I mainly end up with their normal blends and not the fandom blends. Which do you prefer? Fandom blends or the other?

I personally like their normal blends (straight and some of the flavors). Nichole which do you prefer? I’m always game for swapping some floral tea for Adagio. ;)

I know Simpson & Vail has some Lemon Myrtle but I’ve never ordered from them before. And knowing I couldn’t just place an order for one tea is not a good thing for my exploding cupboard! I’m in Canada too and the exchange rate sucks!

I’m a bigger fan of their Signature Blends. Mainly because I’m a huge nerd and there is something about drinking a tea based off of a fav fandom of yours. But I love their Mocha Nut Mate. It is a great sub for coffee.

Let me see if I have any florals. I bought a bunch from Shadowfall not too long ago. I’ll go digging when I go home tonight.

OMGsrsly said

Their lemon myrtle was just lemon myrtle with nothing else, so you might be able to get it at a health food store or some place like Mountain Rose Herbs.

There’s this: http://www.lupiciausa.com/product_p/12409504.htm

but it’s got ginger in it

I am not at all fond of Earl Grey teas, although it might just be that I have never experienced the “right” one. So far though, I’m not a fan.

EG can be tricky,… some are over the top, or flavoured to a point that it seems you are drinking liquid perfume….. I agree…
It was hit and miss for me too for a while. I now have a green darjeeling at home that is just wow…. tea has a mere hint of bergamot, very delicate, and it’s delicious…I’ve also tried a white tea flavoured as an EG. yum :)!
maybe give it another go?? It’s def worth the try! (or an Lady Grey perhaps?

TeaNTees said

@Sandra Vdplaats What is the name of the green darjeeling you mentioned? Perhaps I could give that one a go.

I really like hibiscus teas, unlike most people on Steepster. It is a really strong flavor, so it’s easy for it to overwhelm a blend, but I’ve enjoyed most of the hibiscus teas I’ve tried.

Ubacat said

Yes, that one is definitely one a lot of people don’t like (including me) but there are some that are not too bad. I like Rishi’s Hibiscus Rooibos Tea. The name is a bit misleading though. There’s lemongrass and lots of other things in there. It had a different name at one time and I was really ticked they stuck hibiscus on the name because it’s not overly hibiscus.

Hibiscus doesn’t bug me that much to be honest. I made the mistake of brewing up a cup of hibiscus flowers when I first got into tea…That was like…one of the worst things ever. XD But other than that, if it’s in something I usually don’t mind! I like it if it blends well with other flowers. Just don’t brew up a cup of hibiscus flowers alone…it’s a death sentence! XD

I agree, hibiscus definitely needs to be blended for best flavor. If I do brew hibiscus alone, I use a very small amount and add sweetener.

I like straight hibiscus. It especially tastes so good and refreshing when it’s iced.

Very floral teas, particularly rose teas, are generally unpopular on Steepster, but they are among my very favorite types of teas.

Ost said

Oo floral teas! I have liked pretty much all of the rose teas I’ve had too…I rather like floral/flowery teas. But I can’t stand lavender. D:

I really like floral teas as well. I especially like floral honeybush teas. Lavender upsets my stomach so I don’t drink it, but I don’t mind the taste.
